Get ready for the People’s Climate March! 4/29

Calling on the Resistance….

In the past few weeks, Trump has declared all-out war on our environment, and our democracy. With your help, we’re ready to fight back more than ever. Next up, we’re participating in the People’s Climate March in Washington, DC, on April 29 — which Greenpeace is proud to partner.

Let us know you’re with us! RSVP today.

On April 29th, we will march with our partners, our allies, and our families. We will march for clean air and clean water. We will march for clean energy jobs and climate justice. We will march for our communities and the people we love.

We will march in the spirit of the unprecedented Women’s Marches and other powerful rallies that shook the globe in the hours and days following the inauguration of Donald Trump and the 115th Congress. And we will march to demonstrate our resistance to Trump and Congress’ attacks on our climate, our communities, and our jobs. Commit now to joining us in DC or at one of the other days of action across the country!

I look forward to resisting alongside you in the weeks ahead!

For our climate and communities,

Adrienne Lowry
National Mobilization Organizer, Greenpeace USA

P.S. Whether you plan to march in DC or participate in your own community with acts of resistance, you’ll want to download our #RESIST toolkit, with printable signs and posters so you can make a stand wherever you are. Check it out here!

March for the climate with Earthjustice

Join Earthjustice for the Peoples Climate March for Jobs, Justice and the Climate

Every time President Trump and Congress attack our environment with bluster and ineptitude, we fight back with litigation and people power. Each unfit appointee and attack on fundamental environmental protections has been countered with thousands of phone calls and letters from Earthjustice supporters like you. When Trump signed an executive order opening tens of thousands of acres of public lands to the coal industry, Earthjustice attorneys went to court.

The overwhelming majority of Americans believe in stronger environmental protections—and resistance to assaults on these protections has transformed community members into dedicated activists.

On April 29, the 100th day of Trump’s presidency, Earthjustice will join hundreds of thousands in the nation’s capital for the Peoples Climate March—the environmental community’s strongest act of resistance yet. Will you join us?

From town halls to the streets of Washington, D.C., we have seen the difference people power can make. Together we’ve made tremendous progress toward fulfilling the promise of our communities as safe, healthy places to live and work, and toward safeguarding our irreplaceable natural world. Now it’s time to fight back against the onslaught of attempts to roll back those years of progress.

Download and print your own Earthjustice signs for the Peoples Climate March here.

If you can’t make it to the capital, we still need you in the streets. Join others in your own community at one of the hundreds of sister marches from Savannah, Georgia to Fairbanks, Alaska.

People across the country will march in support of communities facing off against big polluters and creating innovative solutions for a more sustainable future. Join us in Washington, D.C., or at one of the 250 sister marches around the country.

Thank you for helping us win—in and out of the courtroom.

Annie Leonard, Greenpeace … Save the date 1/9/2017

greenpeaceThat’s why on January 9 we’re taking part in a Day Against Denial to fight back against Trump’s nomination of Rex Tillerson and the rest of his proposed climate denial cabinet. Are you in? You can join people across the country to:

  • Hold rallies and have direct conversations with your Senator and their staff to pass along the message that you do not accept Trump’s dangerous nominations.
  • Call your Senator at 1-855-636-8150 to tell them that you oppose Rex Tillerson and Trump’s reckless climate denying cabinet picks.
  • Sign the petition telling your Senator to block Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson’s confirmation as Secretary of State.

I won’t pretend the fight ahead is going to be easy. We have to be fierce and tireless in our resistance. But thanks to you, our movement is bigger — and our action is bolder — than ever. We’re seeing unprecedented levels of grassroots participation and volunteer-led work throughout the country. Our historic progress last year should remind us all what is possible when we stand together, united and determined, no matter what. Seeing your commitment and courage gives me the confidence to say that together, our movement can defeat Trump’s agenda of hate, greed, and corruption. He can’t, and won’t, trump us. Thank you for being a part of this community.

For a green and peaceful future,

Annie Leonard

P.S. We have the power to protect our rights, our people and communities, and the future of the planet. We just have to keep rising up and speaking out — and never backing down. It’s not too late to join us with your critical support. Please consider making a membership donation to Greenpeace in the New Year to help us fight back.

Leonardo DiCaprio and director Fisher Stevens will release Before the Flood

October 30, 2016

You’re not going to want to miss this.

You’re not going to want to miss this.

On October 30th, Leonardo DiCaprio and director Fisher Stevens will release Before the Flood, perhaps the most important documentary on climate change in a generation.

I had the opportunity to sit with DiCaprio during the COP21 climate summit in Paris late last year to explain the urgent connections between climate change and the global deforestation crisis. Specifically, we discussed RAN’s work to protect the amazing Leuser Ecosystem in Indonesia — spurring DiCaprio and his team to visit the Leuser and bring back some amazing and harrowing footage.

You can see part of my conversation with DiCaprio in the film. Before the Flood airs globally October 30th on the National Geographic Channel in 171 countries in 45 languages. (The film will eventually be available free online for all to see — stay tuned for the details!)

So please save the date and spread the word. Together we can maximize the impact of this hard hitting activist cinema.
