One vote short on unemployment

VoteVets.org

Mr. Portman of Ohio: No.

Mr. Kirk of Illinois: No.

We needed one of those two Senators in particular, and thought there was a chance of earning their support. But with their “no” votes, any hope for the 21,000 veterans who lost their unemployment benefits last December evaporated into yet another Tea Party-led filibuster in the Senate.

For those veterans, and the 3,000 more who join their ranks with each passing month, VoteVets commits to continue the fight to extend unemployment insurance for all the job seeking Americans who need this important bridge to their next paycheck.

So far over 25,000 veterans, military family members, and VoteVets supporters have called on Congress to extend unemployment benefits. Add your name to theirs.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has committed to keep bringing this issue to a vote until it passes.

Next time it happens, we’re going to be there with hundreds of personal stories from veterans who lost their benefits, and 30,000 supporters who stand ready to take action on their behalf.

Thanks for being a part of that fight.
