How do right-wing Republican governors explain their failed promise to deliver jobs?
Do they blame the weather? Do they take responsibility for lousy policy like cutting taxes on the wealthy, slashing spending and laying off teachers? Do they blame Obama for forcing them to refuse millions to expand Medicaid?
No, they blame their failure on a conspiracy. You heard that right.
Nathan Deal, governor of Georgia says there must be a conspiracy to fix the numbers.
“In a year in which Republican governors are leading some of the states that are making the most progress, that they almost, without exception, are classified as having a bump in their unemployment rates. Maybe there is some influence here that we don’t know about.”
Magical thinking or just plain lying – maybe this works. Many voters don’t have time to sort through the bull.
One thing is clear: These right-wing zealots won’t change their policies, even when they fail. They will find something or someone to blame. Whatever happens in November, we’re going to have to fight ideologues determined to lay waste to everything from funding schools to food stamps to Social Security.
Your commitment, your energy and your faith make all the difference.
Thank you,
