Stand with Peggy Young and all Pregnant Workers

Stand With Peggy Young and All Pregnant Workers
The Supreme Court
Dear friend,
This Wednesday, we’re rallying at the U.S. Supreme Court! In Young v. UPS the high court will decide whether a company policy that failed to provide “light duty” to pregnant workers, even though it provided light duty to other groups of workers, violates the Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA). This summer, ABB filed an amicus brief in support of the petitioner, Peggy Young, explaining the devastating economic impact that such policies have on women and their families. For example, ABB client Lyndi Trischler from Florence, Kentucky lost critical income and benefits when she was pushed out of her job due to another discriminatory policy.
No pregnant woman should ever be forced to choose between her job and a healthy pregnancy.
That’s why A Better Balance is co-sponsoring a rally with hundreds of participants on the steps of the Supreme Court. We will be there to support Peggy with signs, speakers and the stories of other workers just like Peggy forced off the job when they needed economic security the most. ABB’s Elizabeth Gedmark will be the MC for this exciting event!
