More than 35 years ago, the National Women’s Law Center helped make the Pregnancy Discrimination Act the law of the land. Now, it’s up to all of us to protect what we started.
This spring, the Supreme Court will rule on a case in which a woman was forced out of her job because she was pregnant. NWLC is standing strong with her — but we can’t do it alone.

Employers have to treat pregnant workers the same way they treat workers with other medical needs. That’s the law — and it’s also the fair thing to do.
But unfortunately, we still have a lot to do to make sure pregnant women are treated fairly. And we’re leading the way to pass the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, which would make it absolutely unmistakable that employers must accommodate pregnant workers like Peggy.
This is going to be a challenging year — and we’re counting on you more than ever. Please make a year-end gift of $10 or more by December 31 and your gift will be doubled, up to a total of $140,000, thanks to a matching gift.
Thank you, as always, for everything you do for women and their families.
Sincerely,
Emily J. Martin
Vice President and General Counsel
