Mass KillingThe Zong massacre was a mass killing of more than 130 enslaved Africans by the crew of the British slave ship Zong on and in the days following 29 November 1781. The William Gregson slave-trading syndicate, based in Liverpool, owned the ship and sailed her in the Atlantic slave trade. As was common business practice, they had taken out insurance on the lives of the enslaved people as cargo. According to the crew, when the ship ran low on drinking water following navigational mistakes, the crew threw enslaved people overboard.
So, this was the second time I have been suspended since Elon Musk was in the midst of a Twitter takeover, and while it is a crazy coincidence, this woman of colour has been on Twitter since 2009 and wonders, WTF? Who misinterpreted my Tweet and why! The question is, what’s different in the aftermath of trump, insurrections, and the privileged? When secret/classified documents, held by former officials at their homes, and other locations seem okay, while some of us have fewer civil rights?
I admit to my obvious passion for politics. My distaste for so-called politicians is obvious, but Twitter Support taking the word of anyone is odd enough, being branded as a terrorist and or engaging in racist behavior is insane and everyone should consider the source of the complaint. The decision to deem a harmless tweet as a Twitter violation is beyond offensive and IMO violates our first amendment rights let alone Twitter as a whole. The fact is, people on Twitter are actually free to call folks names, and groups like BLM are maligned on a daily basis by most conservatives and politicians alike least we talk about immigrants, and again, what makes this different?
I don’t know a better reason to be on Twitter than to banter amongst each other, some folks say things that get amazing responses that could be considered good bad, and or ugly. My decision to respond to Governor Abbott was a statement or question if “Operation Lone Star” was … aka, operation wetback. Now, It is quite obvious that I should have formed it into a question. Again, the Tweet seemed harmless IMO, I did not expect an explanation or response, certainly not an email stating that I violated Twitter rules. I do believe voters in Texas deserve to know what intent did Gov Abbott have when he created Operation lone star.
Yes, some say/said it wasn’t far from Eisenhower’s, “Operation Wetback” which literally was a real get rid of immigrants program implemented by none other than Dwight Eisenhower. It wasn’t a term I created, but using the term, not mine btw, and offended Abbott? So, my aka, operation wetback, was taken and reported as if he was an immigrant or the program name, again, an actual one, was offensive. History often offends but come on, what upset Gov Abbott, was it because the operation was based on the Eisenhower Operation?

I had no clue what the offending tweet was. They believed my tweet was in violation of Twitter rules and proceeded to list them. However, I did not feel my tweet qualify my account for suspension. At that moment, on 9/29 My appeal was denied and because the violation was granted without asking for an explanation, I wrote to them on 10/1 to explain what was meant by the tweet. I was under the impression the first amendment was for everyone. I am still confused about our first amendment rights on Twitter. Furthermore, I have never tried or wanted to be a threat on any level.
It is very disappointing that a politician can seemingly misinterpret, and or misuse a tweet to force Twitter support to believe their reasons to suspend folks before an explanation is given before locking someone out.
Nativegrl77 sigh ugh
So, I am definitely stunned after reading my email from WordPress. I don’t use the other SM platforms for reasons that seemed obvious, but a lot of people had their accounts hacked so … nah
So, it’s now June 2023. I don’t know about other Twitter users, but my account is being suppressed… why do I use that word? I post comments and responses which now go into a gray area until either it’s being monitored or I stop tweeting for a few hours only to check on them, and really haven’t posted or were sent to drafts as “failed to send” So, wtf ! Checking my account over and over and every other Tweet has been posted except …well, now it’s 3 posts of support for Biden and some words of voting support including a baby shaking his fists… that is on GIF saying YESSSSSS, no obscenities, no acronyms, nothing, and now one out of 3 has been held back by Twitter for weeks and absolutely no response to my inquiry to @TwitterSupport… I’m one of the millions that use Twitter, let alone being a person of colour, so in the words of most online, WTF is going on? Are there Twitter lawyers that know our rights or someone to explain the bs.. Maybe someone wants to help me challenge the Twitter… pictures etc. and I’m still trying to get these 3 posted…
In the meantime, the goal to usurp WP or at least limit them to having their clients copy&paste has been accomplished.. This action reminds me of SCOTUS
From April 30, 2023 you will no longer be able to share your WordPress.com posts automatically to Twitter using Jetpack Social.
Twitter decided, on short notice, to dramatically change the terms and pricing of the Twitter API. We have attempted to work with Twitter in good faith to negotiate new terms, but we have not been able to reach an agreement. As a result, we will need to remove the functionality.
You can still auto-share your posts to Tumblr, Facebook, and LinkedIn. And you are able to share your posts on Twitter manually by pasting the post link into the body of your tweet. In the near future, we are adding the ability to auto-share to Instagram and Mastodon, and we are continuing to release new features in Jetpack Social.
Thank you for your understanding of this situation. Please feel free to connect with support if you need any help.
Thanks, The WordPress.com team
So, yes, I copied and pasted this email for everyone to see because the idea of someone demanding his First Amendment rights, it brings up a lot of questions and doing this last minute is beyond offensive, and while we can’t say all the obscene things here, but quite frankly after the whole Murdoch Thang… The only thing I feel like saying is… this guy isn’t even from here and goes so far as to end the easy-breezy way of blogging from WordPress to Twitter… after, what, 10yrs. Is the goal to control the First Amendment?
This is America and while Twitter is a Social Media platform, the concept of Free Speech just got trashed…. I read this back and yes it is dramatic but considering all the time savings JetPack Social offered copy&paste is sad… lol
