The Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced the recall for Mrs Kirkham’s Mild and Creamy Lancashire, Mrs Kirkham’s Tasty Lancashire, Mrs Kirkham’s Mature Lancashire and Mrs. Kirkham’s Smoked Lancashire on Christmas Eve.

November 19, 2023 — American Snuff Company (ASC) is voluntarily recalling certain lots of Kodiak Premium Wintergreen Longcut Tobacco manufactured at ASCs facility in Clarksville, TN, and distributed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin, and West Virginia. ASC has notified the U.S. Food and Drug Administration of the voluntary recall and is working with the Agency on this matter. ASC initiated the recall of Kodiak Premium Wintergreen Longcut Tobacco after having identified the potential for certain lots of the product to contain foreign metal objects which may or may not be visible to the consumer. The recall was as the result of identifying an issue with manufacturing equipment during routine inspection that caused metal-to-metal abrasion; this abrasion could have caused metal shavings to come into contact with tobacco during the manufacturing process.

** Quaker Oats recalled dozens of granola bars and cereal products across the U.S. on Friday, (December 15) due to the possibility of a salmonella contamination.
According to the US Food and Drug Administration, salmonella is defined as “an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.”Symptoms among healthy individuals include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. If the bacteria finds its way into the bloodstream, infected individuals can also experience endocarditis and arthritis.
Quaker Oats released a statement regarding the recall, recommending that customers dispose of contaminated products immediately.
“The Quaker Oats Company announced the recall of specific granola bars and granola cereals because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The products impacted are sold in outlets throughout the United States. Consumers should check their pantries for any of the products listed below and dispose of them.”
Possible contaminated products sold across Michigan include Chewy, Big Chewy, and Chewy Dipps granola bars, Puffed Granola, Protein Granola, and Ultimate Flavor Snack Care Packages to name a few.

** STATESVILLE, NC – December 21, 2023 – Blue Ridge Beef is recalling all lot numbers and used by dates between N24 1124 to N24 1224 of their 2 lb log of Kitten Grind UPC 8 54298 00101 6; 2lb log of Kitten Mix UPC 8 54298 00143 6 and their 2lb log of Puppy Mix UPC 8 54298 00169 6 due to contamination of Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

Baxter has identified that after one or more downstream occlusion alarms occur on the Novum IQ syringe pump, the pump may display an “Infusion Complete” alarm despite fluid remaining in the syringe. This could lead to an underdose and/or interruption of therapy. The difference between the remaining volume to be infused displayed on the pump and the volume left in the syringe is dependent on the number of occlusion alarms encountered during an infusion and the size of the syringe being used.

Wilcox Ice Cream made the decision to recall all of their ice cream, yogurt, ice cream bars, and Leonardo’s brand gelato that were manufactured on 9/15/23 after one lot of their Super Premium Mint Chip from that day tested positive for potential contamination of Listeria monocytogenes. The Vermont Department of Agriculture alerted them of the issue on November 14, 2023
** Bix Produce Issues Safety Alert on Cut Cantaloupe Products Due to Potential Salmonella Contamination
Little Canada, MN., Nov. 27, 2023 – Bix Produce of Little Canada, MN., is issuing a voluntary recall of Grab N’ Go containers of cut cantaloupe and mixed fruit cups due to the potential for Salmonella contamination in the products. These cantaloupe products were derived from cantaloupes that are involved in the recent Malachita cantaloupe recall.
- Consumers, restaurants, retailers, and wholesalers should not eat, sell, or serve recalled cantaloupe or recalled products containing cantaloupe.
- Consumers who may have frozen cantaloupe or cantaloupe products for later use should check their freezers and throw away any recalled products.
If you cannot tell if your cantaloupe is part of the recall, do not eat or use it. Throw it away

** Another fruit company recalls cantaloupe products possibly linked to deadly outbreak

Cut Fruit Express Inc. of Inver Grove Heights, MN, is recalling Caribou Coffee Fruit Mix CHPG 6.5-ounce, and Cut Fruit Express Brand of 6.5-ounce, 15-ounce, 16-ounce and 32-ounce packages of fruit mix that contain cantaloupe and food service packages of 5-pound trays, 10-pound bags and 25-pound pails, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.
Caribou Coffee Fruit Mix CHPG 6.5-ounce was distributed from Caribou Stores at the MSP Airport Caribou locations in the MSP Airport, Minnesota. The product comes in a clear plastic package. The use-by date was Nov. 4. The remainder of the recalled “Fresh Cut Fruit Mix containing Cantaloupes” under Cut Fruit Express and food service packaging was distributed through in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois via retail and food service delivery. The use-by dates were Nov. 4 through Nov. 6.
The retail product comes in with use-by dates of Nov. 4 through Nov. 6 on the top label and food service product comes with a date label of Nov. 3 on the bag, tray or a label with use-by date on the pail. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem with our products.
