Immigration law or something else …

UNDER THE RADAR

ThinkProgress.org

IMMIGRATION — THOUSANDS PROTEST DRACONIAN ARIZONA LAW: On Friday, Arizona governor Jan Brewer (R) signed into law a draconian immigration bill that aims to “identify, prosecute and deport” undocumented immigrants. The law gives local police officers the power to detain anyone suspected of being in the U.S. illegally — a measure that many have concluded will “exacerbate racial profiling” and violate Americans’ civil rights. Before Brewer signed the legislation into law, President Obama said it “threatens basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans as well as the trust between police and their communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe.” Around 2,500 protesters marched to the Arizona state Capitol yesterday in opposition to the new measure. Speaking at the rally, Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-AZ) “urged the Obama administration not to cooperate when illegal immigrants are picked up by local police if a tough new state immigration law survives legal challenges.” “We’re going to overturn this unjust and racist law, and then we’re going to overturn the power structure that created this unjust, racist law,” Grijalva said. Sunday was the third day of peaceful protests against the bill. While the new immigration law has rallying advocates for immigrant rights, it has split conservatives across the nation. On Fox News Sunday yesterday, Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol celebrated the new law, saying he doesn’t “think it violates anyone’s civil rights.” While many conservatives like Kristol have offered support, a number have also denounced it. “There’s no such thing” as “American-looking,” Mike Huckabee said. Charles Krauthammer noted that it “could lead to a lot of civil rights abuses” and Fox News’ Judge Andrew Napolitano said that by signing the bill, Brewer is bankrupting the state because of “all the lawsuits that will happen — for all the people that are wrongfully stopped.”

Immigration …people act like this is a new problem that only erupted under President Obama’s administration; undocumented people have come to US with the quiet understanding for years and did the work that many US citizens refused to do.  Where were all these people 10,20 30,40 or more years ago to stop the status quo? undocumented workers have kept America’s economy going at some level and now are paying the price for something started by big companies needing  labor workers at very low wage if at all.

The decision of Arizona Gov Brewer, which, was announced today is truly a sad and misguided action by the very people we vote into public office to represent all of the people; except the Arizona Gov’t. It’s a law that will be subjective and  negatively impact all of We the People… this could jump from state to state … get involved call Gov.Jan Brewer 602 542-4331. People in Public Office should not be in charge of promoting racial profiling and or violating civil rights.  The White House comment line # 202-456-1111 let them know this law violates our civil rights; we need good strong immigration reform not paper or accent checks; anything remotely associated with racial profiling is just unacceptable. The new law would begin in 90 days. Arizona’s Hispanic population is 30% this does not include other people of colour;

It’s Friday, TGIF  again… in a need to be still and feel calm …breathe in slowly deeply with me then slowly release your breath and inner anger slowly … we might need to do this a few times today … because the big issue…

The big worry on my mind today is the possibility that a State that definitely lives up to its label of being one of the Seven Wonders of the World is now a place that has people in authority practicing exclusion and gotta say it, it’s craziness… what do you call people who are supposedly put into public service to work for all of the people who clearly are not.  The Arizona government has shown they are willing to not only express their bigotry but practice it as well by passing…quietly … a birther law and now this state is on its way to legalizing racial profiling to search find raid and arrest the undocumented by any means necessary and does not solve undocumented immigration

The issue of  immigration and whether Gov. Jan Brewer’s comment of doing what’s right for Arizona means she will do what is best in the interest of not only her State but for everyone which she obviously missed and failed as an elected official.  The decision she made will not only have a heavy impact on undocumented people but for those who look reasonably suspicious … which, is definitely racial profiling and it’s just wrong and hopefully will be challenged not only by the people in Arizona but from all of us who feel the rights of the many could possibly at risk or lost who are natural citizens but might look other

So, the financial reform conflict between the Democratic and Republican Political Parties have been portrayed as the next big fight though if responsible smart and lucid; the Republicans would find it in their best interest not to be the Political Party of no in a moment when most Americans helped Wall Street and the Banks get back on track then have them turn their backs on Main Street …

It is strange to know that all 41Republicans are willing to slow down progress, block progress for All Americans; though it will help shine a light on who We the People should be voting for in not only the November elections but for 2012 as well; who in their right mind would vote no just because a Bill that has all the requirements to reform financial institutions that did dirty to people and shoved our economy into the ditch with bad behavior just shy of illegal just because it was written by the governing party?

The Political Party of No should be challenged on the floor of both the House and Senate so those who wrongly believe Republicans are for the people can see it for themselves as well hear it being said by the very people willing to say we care much more about ourselves then Americans or the need to regulate big Banks, AIG types and Wall Street.  While it is important that Congress should be legislating together because Americans do want bipartisanship if possible, but not if it means sacrificing the peoples business and again Republicans have clearly decided to be on the wrong side of reform.

Word that all 41 GOP Senators oppose financial reform is not a surprise; hoping it shines a big light on the deception, dirty partisan behavior from McConnell; it is disappointing that Susan Collins has decided to use a completely bogus reason to vote against the financial reform that shoved our economy into a ditch by saying that financial reform should be done with bipartisanship… WHAT!

Now, it’s obvious that even a good bill means nothing to Senator Susan Collins or the rest of the Republicans.

With all the rhetoric … the good, bad and the really ugly by people who distrust government, mad that Republicans are not in power anymore, are anti-Obama and or are racists.   It’s my contention that the Media and the guests they invite into the fray are by far the number one vehicle of people feeling this so-called palpable tension being felt all over the country.  The rhetoric is admittedly from the right and left stirring up trouble.  The problem is not freedom of speech it’s when talking heads or public servants such as Michelle Bachmann- lose sight of their responsibility when on the airwaves get emotional and start saying things that upset and rile their audiences up; that includes all of Fox news as well as some people on the left who feel our President has betrayed them or consider the President to be Wall Street controlled. All talkingheads on the airwaves need to be reminded continually … Words Matter and some of those words have unintended consequences.

April 19th has become a day in which people remember as a warning of what can happen when a person desperate or a group of people use desperation to behave extreme use violent rhetoric openly and wage war against our government and its people.

We the People mourn all those victims in Oklahoma as well as other victims of  terrorism.

Today, we must remember the past and pledge to all do our best to see the signs hear the rhetoric and report any suspicious behavior by people who resemble the men and women who practice hate, exclusion in its most extreme way includes violence.

In good news … it’s nice to know that financial reform will be dealt with before the end of the month and clearly Wall Street will finally get it’s due,  and it’s not a permanent bailout like the Republicans are trying to get the public to believe; it’s dishonest and the American people are much smarter than they think. All Americans must ask ourselves why would Republicans say one thing and do another?  Republicans need to pick …  are they on the side of big Banks or are they for the people even Justice Roberts has helped big money big greed corps with infinite amounts of money get into the game of politics by making corporations equal to individuals … which makes no sense.

Is it me or does the obvious disrespect for the effort of bipartisan on the part of  the Democrats offer Republicans is way beyond  offensive. Republicans keep saying no to reforming all aspects of the government but not because the government is broken and needs to be fixed but because they are not the governing party in charge and all those statements of taking their country back definitely have to be because the President is a person of colour.

I know that there are smart people out there who might be misguided misinformed by the right and need to hear the truth see it for yourself by listening to c-span live stream listen to the rhetoric on tv by Republicans who refuse to be bipartisan and fix our economy.

In the eight years that the house of Bush was in office he managed to get us into 2Wars give tax cuts…huge tax cuts to the rich and while informed of financial problems the Bush administration apparently did nothing.  And as reported; the only Republican that has waved an alarm is ron paul and the man is definitely not even accepted into his own party.   The Political Party of No remains on the side of Wall Street and greed or why would Mitch Mcconnell or Cornyn visit major Financial Fund consultants and ask for not only money but talking points to fool the public.    Apparently, the public are fools; to believe that the current administration is at fault is beyond me; again, change takes time and for those to feel the President betrayed them is absurd

Again, people are  either stupid, have forgotten  or didn’t believe we were close to having our whole economy system derailed by folks who dabbled in financial products that were set to fail.  The last minute announcement by the house of Bush right before the new President was going to be voted into place should not only remind people who was in charge and did nothing; ask yourself at what point in the months prior to the Presidential vote did the house of Bush know the economy was moving toward a depression.

Commission Questions Armys Oversight of Service Contracts

Today

Defense contracts are estimated to total $80 billion over the past five years in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Wartime contracting commission will investigate what Co-Chairman Shays calls, “a serious gap in reviewing contracts between $100 million and $1 billion in value.” The commission is concerned that the Army lacks adequate resources for planning, managing, and overseeing services contracts that are critical to the success of military operations. Currently, those contracts account for nearly two-thirds of contracts in Southwest Asia, and are mostly managed by the U.S. Army.

The Congress Easter break is over so… let the games begin because we all know that Congress is working for the people right?

Today, the President will host several foreign leaders in efforts to put lasting force behind nuclear control.

The other things that will be on the minds of most Americans and the list is long; The reasons behind the confederate celebration and what else is Gov McDonnell planning for Tenn; as a person of colour, it’s hard for for me to feel anything positive from the actions of an elected official to embrace a time when Blacks were treated as things not people.  It is confusing to think anyone let alone people voted into office would belittle the most important reason for the war… Slavery.  It’s offensive and maybe everyone needs to ask themselves if we should be voting people like this in office?

The anticipation of the up and coming constant Republican debate tactics, stalling tactics blocking and misinterpretation from Republicans with  more discussion on who will Obama push to replace Justice Stevens or the warning they lodged at the President about trying to appoint anyone other than what they want or expect and what they plan to do; which, as we all know is to work for the People right.

The idea that Republicans will continue to disrespect the office of President, warning him not to live up to what 53% voted him into office to do … governing.  We the People cannot afford to vote politicians who put Political Party over doing the Peoples business; though Republicans would have the public believe it is in our best interest.  It is not in the best interest of any American to side on the party of no; people need to make the effort to listen to what things are now being done that Republicans did not even consider doing … We need and must move into the 21st Century if we plan to get back on track, be the number one in the Nation.  The November elections are important and democrats must be out in droves to vote Democrats into office for each and every State ; stay informed and vote to keep democrats in to complete the fixes our economy needs so badly because they definitely were avoided by the house of Bush.

Other News …

Bob McDonnell has or will subject ex-criminals to a test that is suppose to test and or disprove they get the right to vote back by forcing each one to write an essay…in a predominantly African American State can i just say how offended i am and hope that All people in Tenn will use their right to Vote and get Bob McDonnell out of there and his AG too.  I gotta say that the moves this man is making should scare all Americans; is it possible that Gov McDonnell has an ugly agenda? promoting fear hate and possibly violence has unintended consequences
