10th Amendment and the Anti-Commandeering Act

I tried to use the information from what used to be an impartial site, but it was riffed with an astounding amount negative opinions about Sanctuary Cities not facts about them or their history. This source no longer seems based or refers to the constitution usconstitution.net

Commandeering Act

The Commandeering Act, as part of the anti-commandeering doctrine, is a legal principle that prevents the fed govt from compelling states or their officials to enact or enforce federal laws or regulatory programs against their will.

This doctrine is rooted in the 10th Amendment, which reserves powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution to the states or the people. The Supreme Court has applied this doctrine in several landmark cases, such as New York v. United States (1992), which ruled that the federal government could not compel states to regulate according to a federal plan. The doctrine serves as a fundamental aspect of American federalism, upholding the division of power between federal and state authorities and ensuring that states retain a degree of autonomy.
