This year, we saw the JayInslee.com community play a critical role in some of our biggest successes.
As the year winds down, my team and I are gearing up. The next legislative session is a little more than a month away, so we don’t have much down time as we prepare for another round of budget negotiations and fight for our key priorities: good jobs, excellent schools, and quality health care. And that means we need you to gear up, too. This Friday at midnight, we have to close down fundraising for our ongoing political operations — the same operations that helped us fight and win our key budget priorities this year — until the legislative session ends next spring. So I’m asking for your help to raise the additional $25,000 we need to keep going strong and send the message that we’re ready for anything as we head into the legislative session. Will you contribute $5 now to help us raise an urgent $25,000 before Friday’s midnight deadline? This year, we saw just how difficult our job can be. But we also saw the JayInslee.com community play a critical role in some of our biggest successes. With your help, we made an unprecedented investment in the future of our education system. We protected vital services for our seniors. We expanded Medicaid and changed the lives of hundreds of thousands of Washingtonians. We put in place Results Washington, a data-driven effort to measure and constantly improve the performance of state government every day. And our work getting the Washington Health Plan Finder up, running, and helping Washingtonians find excellent health care coverage has been the envy of the nation. I’m proud that we’ve had such success in just our first year. But none of that came easy, and our work will only get tougher as we strive to protect what we’ve accomplished while continuing to move Washington forward. That’s why your support now is so important. Just like when I ran for governor — just like when we fought for the successes of this last year — the grassroots community we’ve built is a powerful force that can carry us forward and help build a working Washington. We need your help today — before our early end-of-year deadline — to keep our community strong and make sure we can keep working together for the future we all want for the state of Washington. On November 7, Lawmakers returned to Olympia for an urgent special session of the legislature that I’ve called to secure the future of Washington’s aerospace industry and create jobs. I’ve been working with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to craft a jobs package that will guarantee the production of the Boeing 777X aircraft and their revolutionary carbon fiber wing in Washington state. This legislative package is a big deal. In just the last year, the 777 project alone created $20 billion in economic activity and supported 56,000 jobs in the state of Washington. This jobs package will help us build on that success and grow our entire state economy for the future. Here are a few key items I’m asking the legislature to pass without delay:
Every Washingtonian has a stake in the work we’re doing. We need to get this done now. If we can do this quickly, we can be certain that Washington’s aerospace future — and the jobs that come with it — will be even brighter than its past. Thanks for your help. Maria has worked with community colleges to develop job retraining programs and helped Boeing win an Air Force contract that could mean up to 11,000 Washington jobs. And that’s why, from the start, she has made sure the deck isn’t stacked against Washington.

Click here to take action.Back in April, the general counsel of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB)—the federal agency tasked with protecting workers’ rights—took a routine step: enforcing a law that’s been on the books for more than 70 years.In America, no company is above the law.And on some things, the law is clear. For example, a company cannot retaliate against workers for exercising their legal rights by moving their jobs.When Boeing moved aircraft production away from its Washington State facility after workers exercised their legal right to strike, the board did its job: it investigated. And after examining the facts, the NLRB’s general counsel charged that Boeing illegally retaliated against its workers.
Rather than let the NLRB do its job, House Republicans are trying to let Boeing off the hook before their trial even finishes. They’ve already tried to interfere with the NLRB’s investigation and even threatened the agency’s general counsel. Now, they’re trying to pass a bill that both lets Boeing off the hook for alleged violations of workers’ rights and makes sweeping changes to the National Labor Relations Act that would result in serious, harmful changes to jobs and workers’ rights throughout the country. Urge your representative to stop the partisan attacks on workers’ rights and create jobs for America. Congress should be finding ways to work with the president to create jobs. But partisanship, led by tea party Republicans, has so dominated our national debate that many of our elected leaders are willing to ruin our economy to grab headlines and attention. Instead of taking up bills that create jobs, House Republicans are once again pursuing a destructive political agenda. Of the many casualties, workers’ rights have climbed to the top of the list.
