Advancing equality means fighting abhorrent views like these every single day.

The Texas Republican Party says “Homosexuality tears at the fabric of society.” The Family Research Council says repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” will increase sexual assault in the military and “undermine the religious liberties” of military chaplains.

Advancing equality means fighting abhorrent views like these every single day.

To go toe-to-toe with them – to run the full-scale campaigns it takes to win – we rely on the regular support of HRC Partners. That’s why we’re setting a new goal of 200 new monthly donors.

As the manager of the Partners program, I wanted to make it as easy as possible for you to get started. To meet that new goal we’re extending the deadline by just one more day – and, we’re even discounting our offer of a FREE HRC water bottle to the first 50 people to pledge $10 or more monthly.

I’m resending Wednesday’s message, in case you missed it. Please join us in the fight for equality. Thank you!

Only hours left.

HRC Water Bottle

‘Til midnight only – get a free, stylish water bottle when you pledge at least $20 $10 a month!

You can help bring change to millions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people for the same price as a tank of gas or a few cups of coffee.

I’m talking about an end to workplace discrimination and the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” I’m talking about marriage equality.

By midnight tonight, HRC needs 100 people like you to take their support to the next level with a monthly gift.

Why give monthly?

  • It’s easy on your budget, and it goes a long way. Most of us don’t think twice about keeping the lights on or the car insured – aren’t fundamental rights just as essential?
  • The enemy is relentless. Relentless, shameless and animated by hatred. The Texas GOP recently declared that gay people shouldn’t have custody of children and that performing a same-sex marriage should be punishable by jail time. It takes steady resources to go up against groups like this every day – to fight back with national grassroots pressure, direct lobbying, public education programs, election organizing, and hard-hitting media campaigns.
  • Monthly giving is the right wing’s bread and butter. We need to match our opponents – gift for gift, dollar for dollar.

Now’s not the time to relent – we can’t afford to give one inch back to the radical right. Take the next step with us, and help us ensure we don’t.

Warmly,

Joe Solmonese

The hungry billion simply can’t wait. Tell Obama to act now.

Sign the Petition

Last month, President Obama joined world leaders for the annual G20 summit to address some of the world’s most pressing problems, including global hunger.

What did our leaders accomplish?

Not enough.

Despite promises to dramatically reduce hunger, world leaders took no new steps to address the one billion people who go to bed hungry every night.

This inaction cannot be allowed to continue. The hungry billion simply can’t wait.

Sign our petition to President Obama urging him to build on his leadership on hunger, to keep his promises, and to become a true hunger hero >

This September, the president has a unique opportunity to show his commitment to ending hunger when he speaks at the United Nations summit to review progress on the Millennium Development Goals. Ten years ago world leaders promised to halve hunger by 2015. With only 5 years left to go there are more people hungry than ever before.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. Funding sustainable agriculture and nutrition programs could literally halve the number of people who go hungry every night.

Brazil is proof that this is possible. In just six years, they cut child hunger by 73%.

When President Obama steps up to the podium at the UN, we want him to call on the world community to end the hunger scandal and to take specific action to cut hunger in half by the 2015 deadline. Sign our petition today >

In partnership with the leading anti-poverty organization ActionAid, we are calling on President Obama to support a global rescue package for the hungry, and to specifically target women farmers and sustainable agriculture as a means to end global hunger forever.

Together, we’re launching a petition asking President Obama to take these steps. Our goal is to help ActionAid deliver at least 20,000 signatures before the UN summit in September.

Thanks for taking action,

By now you’ve heard about the Texas Republican Party’s outrageous platform, which says gays shouldn’t have custody of children and same-sex marriage should be punishable with jail time. Over 65,000 people have signed our petition asking RNC Chairman Michael Steele to reject this hateful rhetoric – but it’s been 22 days and still no answer. Let’s see if we can hit 75,000 – spread the word on Facebook or Twitter now!

SUPPORT
The right wing will do whatever it can to stop our fight for fairness at every turn. HRC’s monthly donors know what it takes to keep the fight going – whether it’s advocating for the basic rights of same-sex couples from New York to Hawaii, countering the activities of extreme groups like the National Organization for Marriage, or electing pro-equality lawmakers. Give us the strength we need to pursue this campaign on all fronts by becoming an HRC Partner today.

Organizing for America

The Senate just passed Wall Street reform. The bill will become law the moment President Obama signs it.

This reform represents the boldest financial regulations since the aftermath of the Great Depression — and the strongest consumer protections in history.

Every door you knocked in Iowa, every phone call you made in Ohio, every dollar you dug deep to give — it’s all for this. The Recovery Act, health reform, and now Wall Street reform, on top of everything else. In a year and a half, this administration has made bigger, bolder progress than any president’s in decades.

We have a president who fights for all of us, every day. We have you, the best organizers this country has ever seen, who flooded Congress with calls and letters, had millions of conversations with friends and neighbors, went toe-to-toe with the country’s most powerful special interests — and won.

And we have members of Congress who bravely stood with the President, even as right-wing groups have pledged $200 million to defeat them in November’s elections.

First, take a moment to celebrate. This is an achievement that will make American lives better and protect our economy for generations to come, and it absolutely wouldn’t have happened without you.

Then, take a moment to thank the members of Congress who stood with us and supported these landmark reforms. In the coming days, they’ll be taking a lot of heat for defying Wall Street — and they need to know they have our gratitude.

Organizing for America supporters are signing a note of thanks to Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and all of the allies in Congress who stood up for reform.

Will you add your name?

http://my.barackobama.com/WSRVictory

We’ll deliver these signatures to leaders in Congress who supported reform, after the President signs this into law.

Thanks for all you did to get us here. I’m so grateful to be making history with you, and I know the President is as well.

Video: Mr. Karder goes to Washington …Repower America

What keeps me fighting is the folks we’re fighting for.

And one story that’s stuck with me is Michael Karder’s. He’s struggling to bring manufacturing jobs back to Akron, Ohio building wind turbines — because he knows clean energy is the future of our economy.

This video is exactly why I’m in this movement — and you should see it.

Watch Michael Karder’s story and help him fight for our clean energy future.

Michael’s voice and the voices of others like him are so powerful that next week we’re planning to bring hundreds of Americans — Gulf Coast residents, veterans and clean energy manufacturers — to Washington, D.C. to remind our Senators why they need to be champions for clean energy and climate.

But their voices will be even more powerful if we join ours with theirs.

You can stand with these real American voices for clean energy by signing our letter to the Senate demanding strong climate and clean energy legislation, and our grassroots advocates will deliver it during their meetings in the Senate.

We already have 67,000 signatures — ask your friends and family to sign on and support people like Michael.

It’s bewildering that despite catastrophic disasters and undeniable public outrage, so many Senators are still struggling to find their backbone on comprehensive climate and clean energy legislation.

Next week, we’re going to remind them why we need action in a powerful way, and you can be a part of it.

Watch Michael’s story and ask your friends and family to add their names before we deliver it to the Senate
