BLM: Stop drilling near Chaco Canyon!

The Bureau of Land Management is holding yet another lease sale of even more land close to Chaco Canyon for potential oil and gas drilling. The proposed plan targets indigenous communities’ resources and sacred sites, threatens a World Heritage Site, and endangers the health and safety of the Chaco Canyon community.
We need to pressure the Bureau of Land Management to protect this unique region, the surrounding communities and their natural and cultural resources.

Chaco Culture National Historical Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the ancestral home to many tribal nations of the Southwest. The greater Chaco area is a community suffering greatly from the impacts of the oil and gas industry.1

The BLM’s proposed plan will further target indigenous communities’ resources and sacred sites, pose a safety and health threat to the people who live on the surrounding land, and alter the quality and nature of this pristine landscape forever

This is unbelievable — western governments are dumping millions of tonnes of plastic waste on developing countries instead of recycling it!

Right now, in a bid to tackle this scandal, a summit in Geneva is deciding whether to stop the export of plastic to countries that can’t process it.

There’s a huge support for the idea, but big business and powerful governments like the Trump administration are trying to block it. Champions say a massive show of public support could make the difference, and will take our voices into the room on Saturday — so let’s speak out urgently with a single clear message: stop dumping plastic in paradise!
