–The Democratic Party must Unite in Solidarity … Vote Dems  Nov 2nd–

Please understand that the President’s message the Democratic Party’s message is being held hostage by “The Media” clearly they are right of center !!!

Sunday buzz….It clearly is fall today …it feels like it but I am resisting the need to turn the heat on and have great thick socks on instead. The weather is mild compared to what my east coast and Caribbean folks are experiencing so the complaint is not that important. I will say how odd to have my ability to get my email subject to the damage tropical Nicole did and wow it did some that caused folks to come in for repair ….oh well.  Dems need to Unite in Solidarity

The last few weeks, months and years we have heard “the media” put out information about the usual then when it comes to all things political or the issues at hand it becomes more clear to me what side of the issues these reporters, hosts, commentators are. It is just my personal take but these opinions when given are suspect because reality is most stations and their owners are quite right of center. If you a political junkie and watch enough or listen to enough so-called progressive radio it is obvious they try to provide spots so that those of us are left of center get our bits and pieces of go get’em blah blah blah but the fact is right of center has more money and that added to  what Justice Roberts did has made it very difficult to get the Democratic Message out there. I found the Democratic Channel on YouTube and that helped to get the information needed that had no commercials, no person attacks by the station or their employee and instead of reading it you can hear what the politician said verbatim which is what we all should do; listen to what the politician says instead of heresy by talking heads. I cannot say how amusing offensive and troubling it is that someone gets paid to tell me I do not know what to think or feel about not only my political party but the issues and who may or may not be the right people to trust. That is offensive and it also makes me wonder are these people acting because sometimes the comments made are beyond anything anyone in their right mind should even say. I get it controversy sells but what we have going on before the November elections is rhetoric and vitriol on steroids from people on the right getting 75% of the airtime on cable and or the airwaves.

This leads to the 10-2-10 rally, which btw was such a great event. I watched it online and while I feel that any and all numbers being commented on by the “Media” they must include those of us who were on the #ONENATION website as well as face book and the unions; who also provided a plug-in, it is important that we all be counted as participants. However, while the “media” coverage was a disappointment the folks handling the rally in person on cnn and msnbc let alone mainstream television were not so surprising. If someone was lucky enough to be interviewed and do not get me wrong some did feel and say they felt the rally was in direct affront to the tea party rally. While others tried to get their message out the comments by most “reporters” was not about how diverse the audience, not how about the Republican tea party is against everything that remotely stands for #onenation and they(we) all came together at the National Mall. I saw no guns and or nasty racial or signs with words of hate of anyone in a Protected Class on them …It was a rally of Inclusion, it was a rally of people from diverse backgrounds who may not get angry, who may not be getting polled but who will be getting out the vote on November 2nd.

In the end, it has been strange to listen to the coverage of the 10-2-10 rally. It should make folks aware of again…what side of the aisle “The Media” is on, so this is a red flag for what we will all be subject to over the next few weeks because of the November elections. The mid-terms use to be a no big deal but in this election year, the importance of who gets in Congress is the difference between continuing the progress needed if we are truly getting out of the ditch the last guy left. It will be about whether it will be your family member out of work, social security, forced to give up their rights as a woman, become reasonably suspicious and carry papers or put in a gender box and without rights completely. The choice is obvious to me because my family is #onenation and what that means is a family who practices inclusion, believes in a person’s right to choose, a right to love and marry who you want and what makes me upset is that implication by folks on the right that being brown black or mixed like my family also means we are all criminals.  It is beyond offensive that anyone has to say that not all people of colour are gang members, or killers or you fill in the negative behavior but to take it further who says or believes that all white people are racist because i absolutely do not believe that either. The big difference at the 10-2-10 rally was people of varying races were standing side by side without the BS that glenn beck has been stirring up. The fact is reasonable adults can stand, work, rally and possibly agree to disagree without the nasty rhetoric and behave in a close environment. That needs to be acknowledged as an experience that was in direct conflict of the beliefs of those on the right who think engaging in legal racial profiling is necessary in order to control folks.  This attitude goes against how most Americans feel but SB1070 which includes the stupid birther law; ares vehicle to control dark folks from being apart of the political process. I would like you to ask yourselves how reasonable is that?

The Sunday coverage started for me with cnn’s Holmes, who decided to bring in david webb; a tea party organizer and while he is black I fear his words of hate about his fellow man truly offended me as he rattled off the various groups represented at the rally out on the National Mall. I am going to try accept that no matter how the “media” covers the 10-2-10 rally I know why it was important that it happened and for it to get national play. The fact is we will continue to hear from folks on the right who get more airplay then those of us left of center because they are more controversial. They not only practice Exclusion they epitomize a sad reminder that race, hate and discrimination of all kinds is an issue that will be alive and well us unless we truly become #onenation and fight for equality. Our Votes for the Democratic Party in November will  help continue the change that 53% voted for in 2008 the change we wanted we voted for means we have to get involved force push forward the change that includes ALL Americans not just a few it means everyone.

FYI the BS that happened even before President Obama took office is the reason things are still awful…the votes of No by the Republican Tea party has continued the slow move toward progress. It took at least 8 years of spending by the last guy, Wall Street and folks like AIG to cause an almost complete economical collapse. I do not understand why people do not get the obvious. The Republican party that caused the economical recession if in power again will strip everyone of their current programs your family friends and neighbors have used or paid into for years. They will not only get less government help but those who saw themselves as middle class or above will know they are not because the privatization of any social service program will mean no caps on cost increases given at any moment during the year you are a customer. The best example I have is if you have rent control then you are okay but if you do not “they” can increase your rent whenever their revenue is subject to being slashed, cut or folks just are not interested in living in their buildings or housing as much so the cost is then passed on to the current customers. This would be bad and that is what privatization is. It gives Corporations a right to control the costs; the services rendered the product you get. The alternative to what the Democratic Party is offering will increase the chaos, increase the numbers using the emergency rooms for medical services. The reports of how the public trusts Republicans to fix the financial situation more than Democrats is truly offensive and my question is have people lost their minds. I watched as the reports came out about how the 2Wars waged and the 2Bush tax giveaways to the rich were done WITHOUT PAYGO and this kind of behavior continues as Republicans stall block or make Democrats in the Senate scale down bills needed to get our country back on track. The blame is the Republican Tea Party and their agenda to ruin the Obama administration whether that means throwing their own constituents under the bus…When will they finally understand this.

Vote Dems if you agree to:   NO Privatization … NO Cuts medicare, medicaid, soc security, Nurses, Firefighters, Police and Teachers …That is what the Republican Tea Party wants!!!

TGIF …&some News

Today is not just the first day of October; my dad if alive would be celebrating his 94th birthday fishing; needless to say i probably would be there with him and later it would be fresh seafood and a flan for desert. RIP dad. The leaves here in the 206 are changing colour even more than last month and while the weather is always a mixed bag with a chance of rain the folks who know say the 206 will be in the high 70’s by the end of the day… ahhh the dog days of summer are still here tho waning away.

I feel the need to breathe deep in reaching up to the sky then slowly release your breath through your nose and repeat when needed.

It’s Friday and President Obama’s schedule will be busy as changes to his administration, fundraising for democratic candidates continue. This is a day of shake-ups and announcements in the White House what with Rahm leaving, Elena Kagan‘s Supreme Court’s investiture ceremony is on Friday, Thad Allen transfers his authority off to another while the folks in Congress run to their own states to campaign like it’s their last. The President has been out there on the campaign trail trying to educate, inform and get folks left of center to understand what is at stake if we do not get off our arse and vote. I do not know about other states but most people here vote by mail, which works out for me because you can peruse the pamphlet take you time to understand the issues, props, or initiatives and then vote it private and send it right back, you can even check to see if your vote was counted online. It is a great system.

It is also the day before the One Nation Rally the 10-2-10 event and at first glance it was  exciting. The idea that so many people wanted to take the time to organize an event that would not just show solidarity for those of us who are left of center. The event would also be a moment to show our support, and express what has been done so far by the Obama administration and  what still needs to get done if the changes we all voted for can become a realization was and still is an amazing feat. However, the last few weeks have made me slightly apprehensive. I am appreciative that progressives, liberals others have been willing and able to not just come together but invest money in the rally but is this a rally of support or will folks get on stage and suddenly talk bad about our President in ways that will sabotage the November election. The mid-term elections usually are not a big deal because normally the changes only affect folks in their own states; this is going to affect everyone because the issues are on a Federal level the changes will affect everyone. It is important that we all need to understand why the stakes are so high. In 2008 53% voted to change the status quo now those votes are now at risk and while changing the status quo should be the issue that holds this Democratic Party together the fact is some of the more left of center did not get their way and are now in the News almost on a daily basis. I get it and I understand freedom of speech, I just do not want to hear so much of the negative on national TV because it could give the Republican Tea Party an edge it could mean votes though if it meant losing votes that easily then they clearly were not left of center at all. So, keep it real keep it fresh and keep the negative under control.

Definitely excited to see the 10-2-10 event on national television I will also be waiting to count the numbers of barbs thrown at our President while watching. I am hoping that the backstabbing, subliminal messages kept at a low level. Is that too much to ask for?

thorny Thursday &some News

Today is the last day of September and while the summer heat should make it to the 206 by the end of the day, it is quite nice outside, contrary to what others are experiencing on the east coast and the Caribbean.

I was looking through my email and subscriptions, came across the Mike Wolff editorial, and gotta say it’s too early to be getting this heated but the words, the implications and what really upset me was a need of his to generalize. I am a big believer in not making general statements or having general attitudes about anyone or thing. I thought that seemed like common sense, yet a guy who makes more money than i will ever see in my entire life decided to go there about President Obama… like so many cable pundits who label themselves as liberals and or progressives who seem to be on the attack in a moment when we need our party, as big as it is united as one group to get more true democrats on the floor of Congress instead of engaging in Political Party sabotage. I am only one person hopefully there are more people feeling some left of center are grooming the viewer for a move to support someone else in 2012, but that is just my take on what I have been hearing on cable and the airwaves. My point is that there just aren’t a lot of folks getting air time to say yes left of center folks have their opinion but they do not represent me. The growing numbers of pundits who call themselves progressives have begun to use their platforms to stir up trouble. I have no power to change the attitudes out there but I will not sit back and accept the BS that Wolff and other media types like him are engaging in. I get it Mike Wolff stepped out there and took a risk to make his opinion known, so did Arianna Huffington, ed Shultz, bill Maher as well as Michael Moore. The comments have been called supportive criticisms to push the President …well the question is push him where out of office because what I hear is not what I would call constructive criticism from these people. I hear what they didn’t get from him, what he hasn’t done for them and what they did for him and will do to him… in some cases I feel some have used folks to take responsibility for the distaste and have decided to hold their votes until at least the President contacts them. I wonder where these people got the idea to decide to sit out the 2010 mid-term elections let alone get on TV and announce their intention to have a tantrum in order to get their way like Sen. Landrieu. The list of those left of center making comments that the viewer unfortunately has been groomed to trust is endless but as a regular citizen and a democrat that truly supports this President. I have a problem with Congress and the rule of 60.  The conversation out there among some left of center pundits is I will be honest is starting to worry me. I understand freedom of speech but it also comes with a responsibility to include some truth and I just did not feel this editorial lived up to that but again that is just my opinion. Millions of people will see his article but those regular folks who disagree can only return barbs and comments in a limited fashion which are then screened and maybe someone who is reading the article will see the comment but in the meanwhile mike Wolff can sit back and take it all in without really having to take questions or defend his position. The article was not just offensive to me but seemed close to race baiting, out of touch and on the edge of discrimination.

Anyway, my response is below

Ok, I will take the bait …because that is what you are up to Mr. Wolff… We all have opinions, it sadly is misused and abused by many folks don’t you agree? As one of millions of Black folks who disagree with your diatribe …the problem with generalities is that they not only are self serving but they move into discriminatory behavior…not all black people are pleased with what the President is doing hopefully you understand we also have free will to decide for ourselves just like everyone else …your article is offensive at best silly and if nothing else you will succeed in getting a bunch of people probably mostly white folks who will agree with your thinking. You are upset about the way things are so  you  talk about President Obama not being able to deliver because he is Black…you are a Pundit and have money to place your opinion on a platform so everyone can see it …some of us don’t have the money or luxury to say what we want and have billions of people see it and think just because it is in print said by somebody with money  decide that in fact it has to be true… I say BS

worrisome Wednesday …&some News

Folks we are just five weeks from a pivotal moment in the process of moving into the 21st Century.

20 months have gone by and change has been slow

I have been listening, reading and hearing comments about Obama having taken a great first step toward change but hasn’t gone far enough to sedate or fulfill the promises he made to the young voters or progressive groups during his campaign but the reality is that most if not all the folks with those attitudes are not being truthful about what this President actually campaigned on. Yes, he is far more liberal than the Republican party maybe even the other options we had but then again any law or legislation needed to solve the issues at hand have been in major conflict with the rules in both Chambers in Congress. That conflict has been an issue that has blocked stalled or scaled back the real progress needed to get our economy back on track. Negative comments are becoming bold, louder and more frequent …

change takes time … it takes cooperating with Congress and since that is not happening …the change we need will take those who supported this President to Call your member of Congress then call the others to tell them that we may have a huge tent but damn we are also a Political Party that is sabotaging ourselves with all the nonsense ….not getting done the things that will get people back to work, help and get the middle class back where they should be because the rich are way ahead of all of us. The issues facing Americans are non-partisan but the Republican Tea Party is making a political game of our lives …people are suffering

**Environmentalist… like Phil Radford, exec director/Greenpeace USA stated among other things,” Obama is missing in action” as it relates to global warming …in an article written by Bryan Walsh from Time Magazine… instead of pointing fingers get together and ask for a meet up with all the major folks needed globally again again  until folks get it but don’t blame the President we need a movement that will impact the entire country as well as overseas then maybe people will want to make our lives livable and sustainable not to mention create new green jobs right here in the USA and prove that progress is a patriotic thing to do.

**Gay/Lesbian leaders… are starting to make comments about Obama not going far enough on don’t ask/don’t tell but today he announced he will enact federal benefits for same sex couples …moving too slow?  too little too late? come on… People of colour  know what being impatient means maybe getting organized to vote true supporters in November is what will get this finalized.

**Health-care liberals… are impatient and talking about how they put Obama in office and threatening a change in 2012 … this is attitude is unacceptable. The conflict on the floor meant compromise so we got some of what we want; what liberals and independents need to do is organize around what we have in common and get more true democrats in both Chambers of Congress instead of trying to take each other down just because the end result just was not far enough …HCR was the most sweeping effort ever

**Wall Street … flexed their muscles to show Obama who really is in charge of the market … bad behavior needs to be Regulated and now we not only have Liz Warren but a new Financial reform laws and this is in direct response to what Wall Street did to Americans and a great achievement of President Obama’s

change will happen, President can’t do it all himself, we need to call, write and march to let Congress know what We the People voted for

The change we believe in is definitely one that we must all take part in.

toxic Thursday &some News

Today the President is in NYC at the UN and will address the General Assembly.

The Political Party of No… Republicans decided to roll out their Pledge to America as well today. The so-called Pledge to America has nothing substantial; only a lot of promises to repeal replace and eliminate social services we have all come to depend on because we pay into it.

The  great News today is that HCR begins for millions of Americans. Though it seems most are skeptical about what exactly will reform do for them the difference will be immediate for those with kids in college who already have insurance. They can now safely cover them while away at college. It makes you feel calm to know that if god forbid something happens to your child they will be covered and they have the ability to get medical help without the high costs. The fact that we only have a few more weeks left until the up coming mid-term elections it is with hope and faith that those people who have been watching listening will Vote for the Democratic Party instead the other side of the aisle. The choice i admit is clear for me; as a woman, mom of a young male person of colour the things that the right have in mind for the Protected Classes seem less than civilized. Anything Republicans say or plan will not be good for families …they take aim at freedom of religion, they are against a woman’s right to choose, don’t believe that gays should have the right to marry adopt or be in the military openly. The list of we don’t approve of by Republicans is long, that is why we the people need to be aware of what we the people will lose.

The rise of  the tea party movement…the implications and the people who are responsible for their actions makes me fear for my safety as well as other people of colour, well come to think about it the fear might be for all those considered a Protected Class. If allowed to gain control the Republican Tea Party will strip away the things we all have held dear up until this moment in our lives and the change I voted for in 2008. Again,  the November elections have a direct impact on our 2012 elections and those who say they want to sit this 2010 out to protest are stupid at best reckless and unaware of what they will be dragging the rest of us into when we have to decide who will be President in 2012. The choice for me is obvious because the work I voted for in 2008 has yet to get done. I knew that the effort would be hard but no one had any idea that Republicans would go to such an effort to ruin the fair election that 53% voted President Obama into office and expected him to govern but Republicans have put up road blocks not only to the change we need but for the Political Party voted to govern for four years.

So, when you vote in November remember how that vote will impact Congress and the legislation needed for All Americans and the work that still needs to get done with President Obama. The choice is obvious. I cannot believe how anyone could promote or vote for a person to be the President of the free world who clearly  feels they could only represent a select few, a specific people. My only conclusion is:  that it could be and would be truly an un-American thing to do… We the People should always be aware of that when voting for the President of the USA , because they represent all Americans not a few, some or a select group. The fact is that a person who believes and practices exclusion, discrimination, sexism, racism …. should never be allowed or considered to be the leader of the free world

When I  hear or try to understand the people in the Republican Tea Party movement; all I get is anger, fear mongering and hate. I have not heard anyone from the movement be specific about what big government means to them or why they hate it and when they try to explain the only information they seem to throw out at us… that government is too big but no one has yet to say what would they do to change our situation, they only give promises but without true explanations with implications they probably will eliminate any and all social service programs that most folks actually pay into all their lives.

I watched marches with nasty words about the President, signs with nasty pictures of the President, as well as people dressed in costumes that represented a time when both women and minorities were not treated well, i saw mostly white faces angry about the country being taken over by a Black man who quite possibly could be a socialist. These ideas were implied, promoted and provoked by Sarah Palin several times during the 2008 campaign for President. The right and or extreme right are definitely upset they are not in charge, they also feel a personal threat over the fact that our population in the United States is growing in numbers for minorities.  The notion that Republicans want to bring in more people into their base definitely is not an invitation to minorities, even with Michael steele as RNC chair it is obvious his party, who gives purity tests is a party of exclusion, only accepts a select few and if you pay attention to the words of Republicans they do not believe in compassion for others. We could really use a little social-ism right about now.

I still do not understand what Republicans stand for, they scare me personally, how can a group of people promote exclusion when it’s obvious we have the elite, the middle  and lower class, who are of varying people, they want the government out of their lives but feel they have a right to tell women what they can do with their bodies, no one is perfect but the C’street group should not have members that are serving in Public Office, if for nothing else than for the Separation of Church and State, which, obviously they are not adhering to. Just ask the people of Uganda, maybe in other countries as well. I would call for an investigation into just what are Public Servants doing in Uganda promoting religious exclusion and or something even more sinister.

Most conservative and or tea party members want to get rid of Medicare, Medicare, Social Security, which are all entitlements; my question is:  how would most of their parents or grandparents live if not for these programs? I just don’t understand.  i believe my first encounter of a movement, which, had no party name that i knew of were the words that came out of the mouth of Sarah Palin at her VP speeches, she mocked then Senator Obama, chastised people for believing in change that would come from a man that pals around with terrorists, which was a outright lie, implied that he was not born in America, that he was a socialist. My first thought was she and others running for Public Service should not be so reckless because she was only talking to a certain group,  relaying her message to only a select few and calling on them to vote for her, then i realized that this was her purpose. I was offended, i still am.

Now, the voices of or from tea party members are said to be from a wide range of people. I have to be honest, the tent of democrats is a lot larger and when people say there are extremes on the left as well? What kind of extreme are they talking about? Socialism? for me the last ten or so years of the bush White house has been life on the sidelines, working and not getting wage increases, that was during the Bush years, even then corporations were flexing their muscles, no increases but you can keep your health care…if you don’t have this that or the other.  I don’t think tea party folks truly understand what they want, if it’s what Republicans stand for then, at least for me, we are in great trouble.

The Bush administrations gave 2tax cuts to the wealthy and did not pay for it, he committed to 2 wars and these were not paid for. The spending this man did drain the government surplus, which was left to him by a democratic President, not perfect himself, but he did leave a surplus. Bush had 2terms and i still cannot think of anything positive this man did, I’m not in the top 2% so i definitely didn’t enjoy the wealth, the wars did not make sense to me ,9/11 still makes no sense to me, my personal opinion is that this event was used to go into war; there had been some negative interaction with bush1 and saddam; it’s just my own feelings but the embarrassment was not forgotten, an incident with Iraq and bush2 with or without the twin tower incident and 3000 dead would have happened one way or another, again, it’s my opinion, no facts. Today, we have a President who has changed the way the world sees us, he has extended a hand of peace, a willingness to talk. Not my way or no way as our previous one did; this is a good thing but that would be eliminated if republicans and or their fringe element called tea baggers get into office.

A man named Tancredo, who comes from a family of immigrants made comments about our President that were without a doubt offensive, first thought was these words of hate are lethal, words hurt, they are offensive when used in such a way as Tancredo did; but what really scared me was that he received applause from the crowd of what? Other racists?, people who want exclusion? If the following people are teabag supporters, like  Thom Tancredo, Sarah palin, scott brown, roger ailes, glenn beck, dick armey  it’s obvious we all need to watch out, the American people should be speaking up and out.
