whistful Wednesday &some News …

The question or frequent requests coming in from folks that normally vote left of center before the November elections  is why can’t President Obama be angry maybe they want that angry black man that so many on the airwaves reference to. I guess folks; mainly men of all races btw want him to move more left of center. In my opinion, changing the calm and cool ways to serving up anger at this moment would be a bad thing. The Democratic party does not have enough true Democrats in place in the Senate and if we did, not only could President Obama be more angry when needed it would be appropriate …being Black or bi-racial is just who he is so that part is not debatable but thankfully he is not McCain/Palin or Clinton.

I am proud to have a President who keeps it cool as he can, who can serve it up when needed and as he stated himself …he can politic as good as the rest of them. Has President Obama been playing it too safe? Not in my opinion, the problem is the rule of 60 and not having true democrats in Congress. Though some are saying he is playing it too safe even after 20 months of hard work getting Congress to pass legislation that no other President has been able to do years has not been easy but the achievements are many: Lily Ledbetter, HCR Reform, and Financial Reform. The legislation placed in front of lawmakers on the Hill since the President was elected and Republicans have been voting No to were put on the floor of Congress to help the middle class and that included HR1586.

My question to those against HR1586 would be; is what your neighborhood would look like without Teachers, EMT’s, Police, Firefighters, and the unemployed had not gotten the help they needed? The Bill to help government jobs HR1586 was repeatedly voted down by Republicans with Bachmann, Boehner and others who called HR1586 a bailout. It is with great pride that HR1586 was passed and should open the eyes of Republican constituents because the Republican Party of NO affected all us not just the Democratic Party people. Think about what would happen to your children if HR1586 had not passed because chaos would be just one way to describe it.

It is upsetting to hear from folks more left of center than me but to hear how they truly believe President Obama is not tough enough from my own people tells me that some are not listening, watching or staying informed and that could hurt the rest of them and us as well. I paid attention during the 2008 campaign had no hesitations about supporting him and it was not because he was bi-racial by any means. The choice was clear his background was superb, as a person who has done community organizer it made me understand where his heart was and he voted against the War in Iraq. I took the time to do my own research to find out if in fact he had skeletons in his closet were the rumors true and lastly was he fit. That became apparent when Bush and Paulsen announced that our economy was heading definitely into a recession and possibly a depression the solution is to give up billions or trillions of dollars without us telling you what we are going to do with it because the sky is falling. The sky was falling but out of all the candidates President Obama was very calm very knowledgeable, willing and able to do the research in order to not only be able to make Americans understand but work on a plan that can be implemented. The facts are that not one candidate responded well to the collapse or near collapse of our economy and with comments like our economy is fundamentally sound from McCain the choice was obvious. It is obvious that that claim was so not true and offensive beyond the pale for me because McCain treated Americans as if we were stupid and could not handle the truth. In the end, Americans were smart enough to see whom the best possible choice was now those people who voted President Obama need to rise up and vote more true Democrats in Congress and that will solve more of what has this country in the hole of life.

Yes, we still have Americans who will not trust the President for reasons that seem odd stupid and extreme to me but we live in America. Yes, people have the right to have those beliefs about this President as long as they do not use their somewhat ugly rhetoric to hurt anyone or themselves physically or with violence and for me that is my concern when t comes to folks on the right and their lack of what America has always been known for. Anytime he seems to lets me know that it is time for his Supporters to rise up … tell them to go for it…

Let your state representative know we voted him in to make changes…

Step over republicans and conservatives if needed… stop the slow down of important changes needed NOW!

President Obama is fighting numerous battles against a congress of men and women thinking only of their futures and the 2010 elections “We the People”   need to rise up and stand with him. I do not understand how people think the President can move in and make Congress what he wants. This is not true people, he may be the President of the United States, but we need to make a conscious effort to tell our Representatives to go for it and stop being obstacles to the changes we voted and hoped to be implemented as soon as possible. It is up to voters to be as informed as possible on how Congress works will increase support for not just our President but for the Democratic Party. We as Democrats belong to a Political Party with a huge tent of various attitudes and though we talk Conservadems, are what the political crowd calls Blue Dogs. These folks are a quiet force that we need to call as we move a long in and the effort to get the middle class back on track. That can only happen if we get out the vote in November people.

At least 53% voted for change and at this moment, we need to continue the support moving into the 21st Century! The consequences of our positive support of all things moving Americans back on track will be a big 2012 win for OBAMA. ” We the People”  need to step up – tell Congress to Reform health-care is good for families, dadt good for families and the military, immigration reform is good for families, , deal with the energy bill and implement better education choices… all good for families

…equality is not just good for Americans it is good for families.

Yesterday, we heard reports that Boehner said that if he had to vote only for giving the Middle Class the tax cuts he would and then maybe a few hours later Cantor and Mitch McConnell both stated No way;  they would filibuster the tax cuts unless the Bush tax cuts were extended. Will someone please tell what do folks need to hear to understand that Republicans are not acting in the best interest of their own constituents let alone the Democratic Party!

Today, the President will give a stay in school speech that still has some school districts avoiding the speech and or parents who are just not willing to accept Obama as our President of the United States and for me it comes as a surprise and is definitely offensive. It clearly is wrong how this man …President Obama helped Teachers keep their jobs …he pressed folks to vote for HR1586. I remember the days when such speeches from the President were definitely mandatory…no question no whispers and certainly no group of people linked to school districts put up walls -is this element of discrimination acceptable?

I do not know if the reports that he would not filibuster are true, if he meant he wanted the bush tax cuts temporarily as reported or that he was willing to give up the millionaire tax cuts to help the middle class. I do know just hearing them whine about big government, how the upper 3% creates the jobs and letting the bush tax cuts would be a job killer is almost embarrassing. It is obvious to most Americans …I hope, that Bush gave 2huge tax cuts to the wealthy a long with waging 2Wars and neither one was paid for but the expect the Democratic Party to stick with paygo when it comes to their fellow Americans… Uh what is that about because they want special treatment when it comes to the Bush tax cuts for them? The facts are that everyone will get a tax cut… the rich will get a tax cut on their first 250thousand people. It is beyond offensive that Americans still want a group in office willing to vote against the People they represent? It is not sane behavior. Primaries matter because the change 53% of us voted for will be determined by who gains control. Those more left of center need to vote like this is a national event. The media has already written off the Democratic Party the question is why? My take is that most if not all reporters, host and commentators are getting paid by major corporate players and their futures may change once folks get it…The changes we need means getting more seats in Congress in November.

How often do we all hear how the GOP will be picking up a significant amount of seats in Congress?  The Democratic Party needs to get out in front of any primary election, plan for transportation and do whatever helps to GOTV, which goes without saying but then it was sort of disappointing to hear that money shared by Democrats is not always available for every State and is just the way it is but folks on the local level probably need to get more involved on a year around basis. The reports are that Democrats get involved in major elections but it’s a new day, now everyone should get involved at every level to keep Democrats in office and back on track to getting our broken down system back on track.  We all know what happened and who shoved us toward an enormous ditch; they bet and spent, spent, spent money without enforcing regulations.  While it’s possible a lot of people saw the problem no one did a thing until it was too late and passed it on to the next Administration.

So, what’s my point to Primaries matter? This is not the time to move away from Democratic ideology, move away from getting things done unlike Republicans; it’s not the time to give up. We have to demand action from Congress.  We need to move into the 21st Century; while Republicans fight to keep us from progressing into a country that has health care for all, climate change because we care about our earth, our children.  We need to demand regulations and financial reform for a failed financial system that they took advantage of. Congress needs to make a good faith effort to reform the way people come into the US … immigration is not going away and the Arizona laws definitely are a catalyst for change.

Monday mashup &some News

The President will be in WVA to talk about the economy.

Congress is back in Session for about a month and while there is so much on the table it is going to be very interesting to see what the Senate will consider as important to work on and what they will set aside before going on to campaign for the November elections.

The Senate convenes at 2:30pmET will debate and vote confirmation of a circuit judge for Tennessee then the Democratic Party will continue its efforts to help the Middle and Lower class create jobs with HR5297 …the Jobs Bill/small biz jobs bill.

Don’t let conservadem Members of Congress vote against the people !!! Ask Them will they pay for the continuation of the Bush tax cuts for the Wealthy?

This last weekend was full of News, anniversaries and celebrations. We finally decided to watch Spike Lees movie when the levees broke,” after avoiding it for a couple of weeks this weekend seemed like an appropriate time to view and confirm the time-line of events, see the interviews of the people who lived, live, work there and those that came to help but who have all felt the slap of reality.  I know and admit that people of all races, ages, class, religion and educational background felt the wrath of Katrina.  The ugly overwhelming fact remains that the huge percentage of the people were African Americans who not only felt the wrath of Katrina but were and now almost 10years later are still shut down told to shut up and are locked out of the loop of progress.

Though we really did not have to watch Spikes movie to know that the injustices that occurred in Katrina have yet to be resolved that the flooding viewed by some as just a storm compared to the BP disaster which is not only an outrageous comment but was made by a Public Servant who is suppose to be someone who works for all the people all Americans. The officials of the Gulf Coast in my opinion made obvious choices against the people. We may never know who first saw the potential use of such a disaster to get rid of project housing, social services for the poor and hope they decided not to come back. It is with great sadness to know anyone would be treated this way and to be honest this is how folks in Haiti were treated but come on the United States too! The possibilities of profits became the deal breaker for rebuilding housing on the Gulf Coast. The dollar signs in the eyes of officials every time they were interviewed was beyond offensive and when they showed the devastation each year the plan to rebuild started to sound like separating dark people from their land was definitely the final result. plain and simple

If you watch Spikes movie and everyone should because it serves as reminder, a documentation on how discrimination is handled not just in this 21st Century but on the down low. I was offended, surprised and outraged at how many groups had to come in to make local and or state Gulf Coast officials do the right thing. It would be stupid to say there has been no progress but that is a subjective comment when you find out that over 80% of the folks that have not come back are people of colour, disabled, and older definitely displaced folks with having had to leave homes built a hundred years ago. They were neighborhoods and yes communities located near beautiful land now empty of what was middle class,  moderate, low income and some were project housing now unavailable or priced to keep folks out. If you look at the film you see how a group of people had a secret development plan of building resorts type housing but at the cost of lives,  liberty, the pursuit of happiness and rights of those who used to live there.

Again, the various affected areas had what i believe as Republican Politicians with resorts on the brain instead of doing the right thing. There were folks like Gove Jindal who closed down and shut out social services. In my opinion it was a kind of  ethnic cleansing done on the down low in the name of previous plans to knock down project housing anyway. The movie in my opinion shows the viewer how viable these housing apartment buildings were but were demolished anyway and what followed was a green light to stop offering social services. It is discrimination by local government entities done without much notice by reporters. I watched the News and as the days months passed by, there was less and less News about the actual reasons or truth for why LA has given up rebuilding and now seem to be waiting out victims of Katrina. The idea that people with families ties of a hundred years plus could not come back unless they are willing to pay the new sum value of the land and area which now had a value of 3 times as much as it did is disturbing news to anyone with a lick of common sense.  The interviews of people who were paying 300-450 dollars for apartments are now listed at 800dollars are not only outrageous it is an issue of civil rights, housing and human rights legalities.

The movie, “When the levees broke,” by Spike Lee should be a reminder of what discrimination in the 21st Century looks like.  I was shocked at what happened without much TV coverage. I was upset that while so many people were yelling, screaming for help they were ignored and amazed at how and why folks engaged in complicit relationships were able to keep the truth away from the country. It is obvious that some relationships have come apart to an extent some people were more comfortable talking to Spike lee other relationships seem to be intact and a little dirty for me but even a child can see the truth has yet to be addressed.

The decisions made since the Katrina disaster have been by Republicans and the BP oil disaster decisions are being made by Republicans. When will people right of center get it. We are in trouble due to this Political Party and what better way to show the problems … watch “When the levees broke” and see separate and now  becoming more and more unequal in this 21st Century.

TGIF &some News …

Today the President will hold a News conference that will inform all Americans of the state of our economy and answer questions …

I am a proud American who supports President Obama

My rant today is the Media and their seemingly play to pit the public against the President of the United States of America.

The Media Spin on the Quran burning in my opinion is clearly the medias responsibility. It did not have to become a global issue and played a major role in placing security risks to our Military.

The BS comments coming from the Media is that they are not the gatekeepers to the information getting out. That is total BS -anyone with common sense would know that the media can and have handled these kinds of people behind the scenes without compromising the get. The competition seems to be more important these days. In this case, of Quran burning…the get was clearly more important than the people that could get hurt from the actions of this pastor and his followers. What a BS thing for any so-called reporter to say on national tv. Reporters …anyone reporting News has a responsibility and @msnbc and others should know this and act accordingly instead putting the BS out there and seeing what sticks… it is disturbing that a reporter on @msnbc would have the nerve to say they are not responsible? The media needs to take some responsibility in all of this nonsense… he would not have gotten any global PR had they had kept it on a national security level but the media did not –

It is odd to have only a few hours go by and so much has happened to so many people. A natural gas explosion in California which literally  has wiped out a neighborhood is disturbing since reports are that people smelled natural gas for a least 3 weeks, reported it but the question is what was done to fix it. The blast has at least three fatalities and quite a few people in the hospital. We all pray for all the people involved. A judge has determined that DADT is unconstitutional and is waiting for the Obama Admin to respond. The Saints won their football opener and the White House has tapped Goolsbee as the Presidents head economist.

The whole Quran burning story is very upsetting. The Media is still giving credence, a platform to this so-called pastor terry jones who is now spewing venom at the Imam stating that he was lied to …blah blah blah, and other copycats are out there trying to cause problems. I have a problem with how the media has handled this thing, how comfortable these so-called host and or commentators have blamed President Obama for either saying anything or not saying enough. I have an issue with the  donny doitch types who get on air and say what i feel are stupid things. It is obvious that Petraeus was asked a question we do not know if the information given to Petraeus was inflated but it got his attention and this  info moved up the ladder. It is my contention that this pastor had planned to hold the burning and the Islamic community center hostage. It is my hope that his plan will be stopped and is now found to be a crazy sob.

The report of any shootings based on what this pastor did causing one person to be killed is definitely seems to be his fault.

wacky Wednesday &some News

President Obama is in Ohio and will give a detailed speech today

The change 53% voted for has been stopped, blocked, scaled back and slowed down by the Republican Political Party.

It is up to those who do lean left of center…even our fellow independents to keep the people leaning right of center informed. It is important to challenge the crap coming out that clearly are lies, on the edge or overtly reflect a nasty rhetoric often spewing fear hate and discrimination. On 10-2-10 will March on DC to show unity as a Nation who believes in our Constitution in every way. It is a march that welcomes everyone that believes in the People, the 14th Amendment and equality for All people regardless of the race, creed, religious or gender preference. It is a moment needed to let those who practice exclusion to hear those who believe in helping our fellow man.

The cliché, “When the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few” is an important statement right about now because big corporations made big bets against the people for other folks who were definitely rich or getting richer but ran out of luck; the government in our case had to step in and up to help All Americans because free trade was not going to correct the bets because the casino shut itself down. The economic collapse that happened was an opportunity to change the failed way things were done in order to move into the 21st Century

I have been listening, reading and hearing comments about President Obama having taken great first steps toward change but hasn’t gone far enough to sedate or fulfill the promises he made to special interest groups during his campaign. First, what special interest groups is the Media talking about that is upset because libs are definitely apart of the Democratic Party. The negative comments are becoming bold, louder and more frequent but they are coming from the right, the more extreme of our society the group of people being stirred to cause physical damage. We can blame the Media for the selective misinformation they all give viewers. It is now quite obvious that ratings are so important that reports leave out parts of a story instead of giving all angles or even having a guest to rebut the opinions of the host, commentators.

Change takes time… It takes a Congress with courage to create and pass laws that should be for the greater good that covers all Americans.

**Environmentalist… like Phil Radford, exec director/Greenpeace USA  stated among other things,” Obama is missing in action” as it relates to global warming …in an article written by Bryan Walsh from Time Magazine. I am willing to say that Congress is a partner that President Obama has had to fight with since coming into office and those who have been paying attention it was not just with Republicans it was, has and still is with democrats. This President and his administration needs support to move the US into the 21st Century to a Green economy… It takes courage to admit we need to do what is right for our children and generations to come by keeping and or voting more democrats into office in November people.

**Immigration/SB1070 …Do you “look” undocumented? This week, the Arizona state legislature approved an anti-immigrant bill that essentially gives police the right to profile people based on race. It will also give natives the right to sue local law enforcement if, in their opinion, not enough is being done to hunt down undocumented immigrants.

Reasonable Suspicion, what does that mean?

Any legislation forth coming needs to be comprehensive immigration reform. The public needs to accept the complicit relationship of the past and correct it and move into the 21st Century; this can only happen if we vote more Dems into office -November is a national election as far as i am concerned. What happens in November will impact the  future of All Americans

read the article by Prernal Lal…stay informed

**Gay/Lesbian leaders… are starting to make comments about Obama not going far enough on don’t ask/don’t tell but today he announced he will enact federal benefits for same sex couples …moving too slow?  too little too late? come on, People of colour know what being impatient means. This is yet another issue that will be stopped in its tracks if we do not vote more Dems into office people. If do not get Dems out to Vote in November the progress made thus far; even if some feel it is not enough, just think what will happen if Republicans gain control and do what they have threatened all along. We all know republicans feel they have the corner on what “family values” are and push this as apart of their agenda if they gain control. The governing they plan will definitely not include same sex marriage contrary to what most Democrats feel should be an issue of equality.

**Health-care  -liberals… are impatient and talking about how they put Obama in office and threatening a change in 2012 … this is unacceptable for me because the new law covers those with children up to 26 which is college age and will save money for so many parents; it is not a welfare program. It stops discrimination against women and allows those who have debilitating deceases the right to see a doctor without their insurance companies saying you are not worthy of being helped. Health Care Reform is in itself is a Jobs Bill and who would not be for a new law that gives more access to health care while creating more jobs to the public. It will and that is something more members of the Democratic Party in Congress should be letting the public know.

**Wall Street … flexed their muscles to show Obama who really is in charge of the market … bad behavior needs to be regulated with a big R and ten months the Obama Admin and Congress passed legislation to regulate Wall Street that should continue to be adjust to hold those who still place bets against the people of the United States.

The fact is change will happen. The President can’t do it all himself, we need to call, write and March 10-2-10 to let Congress know what We the People voted for a change we can believe in but some folks left of center just do not understand that this change will take time, support and pushing our Congress to get the job done.

The notion that the President is to blame for the scaled back legislation that was passed in the Senate is ridiculous. It is a combination of the 60rule, filibuster and the lack of Political will of the Democratic Party to push the envelope. I think conservadems need to be shoved into a box but the real solution to the inability to get substantial bills through that will not only help ALL Americans and our economy is simply getting out and voting for the Mid-term elections.

This is a moment that is just as important as the 2008 elections people because without more Dems in Congress the change we all want will continue to be scaled back by Republicans.
