From the Field Updates …a message from Jon Vogel

17 Days Until the Election

I can’t thank you enough — because of you Democrats are surging in these final weeks.

With your help, we reached our goal of $500,000 for rapid response and wired urgent support to our campaigns for television ads for next week and to send even more on-the-ground support.

While shadowy outside GOP front groups continue to barrage our candidates with attack ads, we have planned for the final two weeks, a $40 million wave of television ads for Democratic campaigns nationwide and to continue our $20 million voter contact program.

So far, our efforts are paying off and we are seeing poll numbers move, BUT we can take nothing for granted. The margin of victory on many of these races are small and this is the time to go all in.

For the final two weeks, my strategists and I see about a $300,000 gap for what we need before Tuesday’s two weeks out deadline. Can you help us again with another generous gift? Your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar.

Some other updates from the field:

Another Bad Week for the GOP

GOPMisfires.com

This week, Republican candidates have been consumed by one media firestorm after another:

  • First, there was news that police are investigating one of their most highly-touted candidates for an alleged sexual assault of a potential campaign volunteer.
  • Then, photos surfaced of one of their tea party candidates dressed as a Nazi in World War II reenactments.
  • Lastly, NBC News reported that GOP candidate Allen West has ties to an infamous motorcycle gang and crime syndicate, the Outlaws. The Department of Justice has said the Outlaws are a gang known for making and distributing meth, committing homicide, and prostitution. The Outlaws have a history of denigrating women and considering women property – actually branding women like cattle.

What’s worse? These are just a couple of the Republican extremists running in battleground races. Early voting has already started in many states so we have to act fast to expose the troubling records of the Republicans’ radical “Young Gun” candidates before Tuesday’s TV ad buy deadline.

Check out our GOPMisfires.com website and help us expose these Republicans’ radical records.

Early Voting and Voter Outreach Continues

Your dollars have enabled Democrats in hard-fought races to fight back with ads and launch their state-of-the-art voter contact efforts. But it’s too close for comfort with so many like these running in battleground races.

There is no margin for error and every dollar you give has an impact. We have already been on the air with over $17 million in television ads and it’s working. Our poll numbers in key districts are moving!

Early voting has started and so has our voter outreach programs. Phone banks are 7 days a week here at headquarters and voter outreach programs continue over in 75 districts across the country. It costs $28 to outfit a grassroots canvasser with the proper supplies — consider sponsoring 1 or even 2 canvassers today. Contribute today >>

Together, we can be the difference between victory and defeat for Democrats and keeping these and many other right-wing extremists out of Congress. But we must raise $300,000 before Tuesday’s deadline to wire money to the field to fund next week’s campaign activities.

Just days left: Contribute before Tuesday’s two weeks out deadline so we can raise the $300,000 we need to fund next week’s activities for Democrats in too-close-to-call races.

Onward to Victory,

TGIF …&some News …Mrs.Obama’s speech while in Wisconsin

Congress is still on break…sigh ..so much work to do, so many bills to get through… only if we had more(truer) Democrats on the floor of both Chambers of Congress. Vote Dems on Nov.2nd

***Today started out like another day of nasty weather just like the rest of the country and while the weather does affect, maybe set the mood for the day it is on a very rare occasion that the weather makes a person or group of people act out in ways that are not just extreme, obscene and or pack like but their actions and their words have influenced some ugly behavior from their followers. The words and comments being made by rightwing radio hosts, protesters and cableheads but mostly Republican Tea Party candidates continue to race bait, promote violence, lean to the extreme as promises of repealing, replacing and eliminating looms over the middle class if the Republican Tea Party gains control. I have to say contrary to what progressives are saying on the airwaves the  land  of the middle class is not ruled or inhabited only by white folks like keith o and ed Shultz would have us all believe. I appreciate the advocacy they do and the variety of guests but it is getting tiring to hear that “those people” in need, the poor blah blah blah they talk about are black or Latino …I am not naïve but being poor is not about colour Keith and or Ed Shultz, there a lot of poor white people in need too as well as there being non-whites who are or should be included in your so-called Middle Class monologue yo.  The words coming from the right definitely upsets me but I gotta say tuning into so-called progressive stations playing the class war game as well is making me tune out almost completely.

The great speech while in Wisconsin by Mrs. O is below

We have two weeks before we all vote and though people like Palin love trying to engage in the art of fear mongering it would be great if the public finally gets it and turns off the nasty vitriol.  Words still matter, words hurt as we have seen over the last few weeks and this seems to have been lost on a whole lot of people on the right. The blood pressure of Americans seems to have been pushed up by rhetoric that is just full of miss-information.  After watching the latest round of debates the need to fact-check not only the news but right-wingers and their candidates because the do as we say not as we do is in full effect and while we all expect truthfulness this 2010 group of Republicans have decided to lie…luckily for folks who care can log into YouTube and plug in any candidate and hear their views their real opinions because it got caught on tape.

The changes the Obama admin and Congress have been able to put in place despite the Political Party of no will affect all our lives, our children and our jobs. The new HCR laws  will transform the lives of people who previously were denied coverage due to an illness, people who have kids just about to turn 22, usually get dropped will now be able to stay on your insurance until age 26 and as for being a woman… def a pre-existing condition has been dealt with and while some of us didn’t have these new laws in place when we needed them it is with great pride that others will not be subjected to insurance and or health care discrimination; hopefully, all the changes will happen in a positive way; create healthier people and jobs in the future.

Anyone with a mom, sister, daughter or wife should celebrate because the new law of the land will increase her ability to live longer.

I’m writing to ask you for money

Organizing for America
I’m Yohannes — OFA‘s political director. Everyone calls me “Yo.”

I’m writing to ask you for money. Here’s why: There are dozens of close races I’m watching in about 40 states.

The dynamics of each are shifting by the day. We just learned that one right-wing group is pumping $261,000 into just one Ohio congressional race to defeat the Democrat in office. At the same time, the Republican running for Senate in Delaware said something wacky during a nationally televised debate. And several of our House candidates are surging.

A bunch of these races will be super tight on election night.

That’s why we need to go all in in lots of places, so all of the close ones go our way. Can you donate $25 to make it possible?

Your donations power everything we do.

Money you give buys snacks for volunteers — you’ll be feeding someone who just spent six hours working their tail off, knocking on doors.

It pays for a radio ad in a key city that tells folks how to vote early. Or a rental van to bring seniors to the polls. Or door-hangers that folks will be hanging at six in the morning so busy parents get an extra reminder as they leave for work.

Give it a shot. You’ll be investing in a movement of millions of us who — even when it’s really, really hard — are fighting to bring change to this country. And it feels great.

Chip in $25 or more now:

It’s dirty trick #1 in the Rove playbook

Only 19 Days Left Until The Election When you’ve got dirty laundry, don’t apologize for it. Instead, just throw it at your opponent.

That’s exactly what the Republican attack squad is trying to pull off.

They’re claiming that my fellow House Democrats who consistently stand up for good paying American jobs are actually the ones to blame for jobs getting shipped overseas. Worse yet, they’re relying on millions of dollars from pro-outsourcing special interests to launch their attacks. Shameless.

We can’t let their lies take hold because we failed to act. The DCCC has got rapid response ads ready to fight back with the truth, but we simply must raise $117,337 more by tomorrow’s ad buy deadline to get them on the air.

Contribute $5, $10 or more to House Democrats’ October Rapid Response Fund before tonight’s Midnight Tomorrow and your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar by a group of committed Democrats. Your generous support is urgently needed to help our Democratic candidates fight back against Republican attacks.

It won’t surprise you that the Pulitzer Prize winning Politifact called the Republicans’ baseless attacks “FALSE.” It would be comical if the stakes of this election weren’t so high.

With early voting already under way, sitting on our hands is not an option. We all know what happens when you let smears like this go unchallenged. None of us can afford to look back on Election Day wishing we did more to fight back. And we certainly can’t let the Republicans and their front groups dominate the airwaves in the final days of this Election.

A gift of $10 will go a long way to getting ads on the air before tomorrow’s midnight deadline hits.

Thank you for standing with us.

Palin for Congress? a message from Paul Begala

Only 20 Days Left Until The Election

Make no mistake about it, Sarah Palin is basically running for Congress this year.

Her name might not appear on any ballot but Palin-endorsed Republican clones are running and many of them are in too-close-to-call races, which makes things a little too close for comfort!

The latest outrage is that the US Chamber of Commerce — a multimillion-dollar corporate lobbying machine — broadcast the HOME PHONE NUMBER of one of our Democratic candidates. The candidate’s daughters couldn’t use the phone anymore because of what her spokesperson called, “harassment and abuse.”

How’s that for family values?

Meanwhile, Ms. Palin is raising money and motivating her base. She probably thinks she can see a Republican majority from her front porch.

You can turn Ms. Palin’s vision into a Wasilla mirage. The DCCC’s October Rapid Response Fund ads are already making a difference and their impressive get out the voter efforts have mobilized thousands of volunteers. But my friends at the DCCC need your urgent support to hit their goal of $500,000 before Friday’s deadline to wire urgently-needed money to Democratic campaigns.

Contribute $5, $10 or more to the October Rapid Response Fund before Friday’s midnight deadline. Your generous support is urgently needed to help Democrats defeat Sarah Palin-backed candidates in make-or-break districts.

This is no longer your father’s Republican Party. I’ve been through a lot of elections, but I have never seen a group of Republican candidates as far-right as this group of Palin’s recruits.

The DCCC is just $242,226 away from their Rapid Response goal for this Friday’s Midnight Deadline. They have Rapid Response ads ready to go up in every battleground district where a Palin protege is running so Democrats can hit back hard against their Palin-esque tall tales.

Contribute $5, $10 or more to the October Rapid Response Fund before Friday’s midnight deadline. Your generous support is urgently needed to help Democrats defeat Sarah Palin-backed candidates in make-or-break districts.

Every dollar you give can be the difference between victory for one of these Palin Republicans or their defeat.
