Stop the big oil giveaway fueling our enemies.

Since General Clark‘s email, over 16,000 people have signed our letter to the Environmental Protection Agency calling on them to protect the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).

The RFS is an important tool in reducing our dependence on foreign oil, and it’s critical that you add your name before we submit the signatures in January. You can do that here:

http://www.savetherfs.org/

Thanks for standing with the veterans, military family members, and VoteVets supporters who have already taken action on this important issue.

Right now, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is considering gutting one of the most important policies put in place to limit the amount of fossil fuels we burn and lower our dependence on foreign oil.

It’s called the Renewable Fuel Standard and it ensures a minimum number of renewable fuels are used for transportation in the United States.

As veterans, military family members, and VoteVets supporters, we have a unique understanding about the cost of our dependence on foreign oil. It’s not just measured in the price at the pump, or a changing climate, but also in the lives lost and changed through deployments to protect the flow of oil in the Middle East.

VoteVets is participating in the Environmental Protection Agency’s public comment period on this issue. It ends in a few weeks, and we’d love it if you added your name to ours before we submit. You can do that here:

http://www.savetherfs.org/

This is an important issue and a very real chance for you to make a difference. The EPA traditionally takes these comments very seriously, but our voices are at risk of being drowned out by big oil interests running astroturf campaigns.

That’s why your petition signature is so important. I hope you’ll add your name to mine today.

All the best,

General (Ret.) Wesley Clark

Arlington Cemetery is 35,000 wreaths short

VoteVets.org

Every year during the holiday season, volunteers lay wreaths atop the tombstones honoring the fallen heroes laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.

They’re traditionally funded by individual donations, but this year they are about 35,000 wreaths short.

VoteVets would like to help them close that shortfall.

Each wreath costs about $15 to make before they’re driven down to Virginia and placed in front of a headstone.

Can you contribute $15 today to pay for a single wreath, and we will write a check to Wreaths Across America from the VoteVets community?

http://action.votevets.org/wreaths

There’s a story of sacrifice and sadness beneath every headstone at Arlington. During this time of year, we’d like to remind the families that their loved ones will never be forgotten.

All the best,

VoteVets.org is supporting Seth Moulton

VoteVets.org

As a U.S. Marine, Seth Moulton served four tours in Iraq over five years — leading an infantry platoon that was one of the first to enter Baghdad.

Now he’s running in a toss-up race for a first term in Congress, and VoteVets is proud to stand with him.

Seth has an important campaign finance deadline this month and your contribution of $10 will give him the resources he needs to win.

http://action.votevets.org/seth-moulton

Seth is running as the progressive candidate in a Democratic Primary against corrupt Congressman John Tierney.

In 2012, plagued by ethical problems that involved unreported gifts from owners of an illegal offshore gambling business, Tierney barely hung on with 48% of the vote… in a district Obama carried by double digits.

This race is our best chance to elect a progressive veteran to Congress in 2014 while simultaneously restoring some integrity and trust in our nation’s capital.

Let’s do it.

Help VoteVets support Seth Moulton by making a $10 contribution to his campaign before the critical end of quarter deadline.

http://action.votevets.org/seth-moulton

We have a lot of important campaigns to support in 2014 — but Seth’s race is near the top of the list. It’s important.

An extraordinary immigration victory for military families

VoteVets.org

Far too many of our troops serving at home and abroad live in constant fear that those they love most will be deported.

Thanks to President Obama and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), they can rest easy.

In an extraordinary ruling last week, DHS announced it will halt the deportation of “spouses, children and parents of active-duty military members, reservists who may be called up as part of the ‘Ready Force.'”

Over 50,000 veterans, military family members, and VoteVets supporters signed a petition urging the Washington to take action on immigration reform. And while we’ll keep fighting for comprehensive action, this is a welcome victory.

Please sign our card thanking President Obama and Department of Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano and we’ll deliver your well-wishes. You can do that here:

http://action.votevets.org/immigration-victory

DHS argued that the constant threat of deportation put an unnecessary “stress and anxiety” on those who signed up to serve their country through military service.

That’s right. And thanks to their action, a large portion of our force has something extra to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

Thanks for standing with us in this fight. Your action matters.

Veteran’s Support Congressman Enyart

VoteVets.org

In 2012, Major General (Ret.) William Enyart answered the call when health concerns forced the Democratic nominee for the House of Representatives in IL-12 to withdraw from the race.

With the support of VoteVets members, he won a close contest and has gone on to serve as a tireless advocate for veterans in the House. Earlier this year, Representative Enyart sponsored the “Veterans Backlog Reduction Act” that would ensure disability claims are handled expeditiously.

It wasn’t clear whether or not he was going to run for re-election, but thankfully he’s decided to continue his service.

Will you join VoteVets and send a strong message to everyone watching that we’ll stand with veteran members of Congress who stand with us? Contribute to Congressman Enyart’s campaign here:

http://action.votevets.org/enyart

Just this week, a strong Republican challenger jumped into race to challenge Congressman Enyart.

The next few days are going to set the tone for the rest of the race.

Let’s get this done,
