What We’re Fighting For … Jim Messina, BarackObama.com

I know we’ve been asking a lot of you.

In the first major test of this campaign, you delivered.

More than 475,000 people decided to own a piece of this campaign in just our first quarter — a promising sign of what’s to come if we all stay focused and work together.

We’ll be in touch with more information as we continue to crunch the numbers. But for now, I wanted to pass along a quick video I think you’ll like.

If you missed it, the President held a press conference earlier this week. The last few minutes were really something special. It’s a good reminder of why we’re fighting so hard to get him re-elected:

Thanks again. Hope you have a great holiday weekend.

Deadline: Thursday – 2012 BARACKOBAMA.com

June 30th at 11:59 p.m. is the first big deadline of this campaign. At that moment, we’ll close the books on this financial quarter and begin preparing our fundraising report to the Federal Election Commission, the press, and the public.

Our opponents are chasing Washington lobbyists and special-interest PACs for big checks ahead of the deadline. To them, and to most of the pundits, campaigns are all about how many millions of dollars each candidate can raise.

We disagree. Of course we have a budget and financial goals. But we believe that the true strength of our campaign is the number of everyday people owning a piece of it.

So we refuse money from Washington lobbyists and special-interest PACs. And rather than setting a goal of millions of dollars, we’re setting a goal of 550,000 grassroots donations by the June 30th deadline.

The number of contributions we earn in this quarter will be the definitive record of how strong our support was at the very start. If you’re one of this campaign’s earliest supporters — thank you. Will you chip in another $5 or whatever you can afford to help us hit our goal?

A lot of people out there are wondering whether this campaign can inspire the kind of grassroots support that has been the foundation of our success. A lot of people out there are already saying we can’t.

So we’ve got something to prove.

What happens between now and Thursday will shape the story of how the 2012 race began.

Help write that story with a donation of $5 or more here:

Thanks,

Messina

bad weather Wednesday &some News

a few weeks ago i posted an essay by Ron Paul called Rethinking Birthright Citizenship and a few days ago received a response on my blog, which is great but a bit concerning given the person agreed with his views that i feel are beyond extreme anyway here is the last of it i guess …

Comment: I know all about race and the illegal situation first hand.

I don’t think I’ve called Obama anything other than an American.  I may joke about him being a Muslim or whatever but he can thank Heloise and blogcritics articles for boosting him in the polls and helping him get over the racial hump.  Yes, I will take a little victory lap here.  Read ALL of my hundreds of Obama and political articles at blogcritics.org then come back and tell me I don’t know what I am talking about politically.  I think you will see I single-handedly set the standard for a lot of stuff that comes out of the mouth of mainstream media.  Yes, I did.

Heloise

ME: Actually, I went to your site and read your comments or what you call critiques and like i said we live in America and thank goodness freedom of speech is just one great reason to live here. However, I read your comments in a much diff way and will stand firm. I think it’s fun and amusing that anyone would give themselves props for anything the mainstream media says because in my opinion it’s lame offensive and full of lies. If that is what you want props for then sobeit but FYI most people are not happy with the right of center biased comments from “the media” and my President , President Barack H. Obama is not only underesitmated people boost his polls because they are actually comparing and contrasting his comments against what the Republican Tea Party and the folks who control cable news as well as mainstream media thank you very much. I know a lot of folks would love to take the victory lap but he is his own force moving toward that change 53% of Americans voted for – I give any and or all props to this President -full credit for all that he does. – Well, welcome to America and thank you for responding to the rethinking birthrights cititzenship essay that RonPaul wrote though if i read your blog correctly you support his point of view which was why i responded originally. I still am offended by his views in that essay as well as anything else he says when he is on the airwaves about Race, birthright including the 14thAmendment.

TGIF &some News …

The Political climate in the country is sort of reflecting the current weather, which has been violent at times, frequently changing agitated by furious thunder or uproar and commotion… just like what is happening from everyone involved in the Paul Ryan Plan, which includes ending Medicare, as we know it

“The tempest in my mind/Doth from my senses takes all feeling” (Shakespeare).

As Senate Democrats go back to work for the People Republicans continue to act recklessly and create mayhem on both the State and Federal levels. The facts are becoming clear which Political Party will be considered on the right side of history by all the efforts they have shown trying to vote for and implement legislation that would change the way immigration, insurance, wall street, climate change, and jobs which were mishandled and or neglected by the last guy and his republican crew in office.

The current issue mishandled by this crew of Republicans in Congress, among others is the Paul Ryan Budget Plan. The Republican Party pushed it, backed it as if it was the best thing in the world though the particulars were not clear. Fortunately, a Democratic member of Congress challenged the content, structure and announced that the plan would not only make the Bush Bonus dollars permanent, had a health care mandate , a voucher system, probably end Medicaid as well. I don’t know about you but the lack of detail in this Budget Plan given by Republicans before and during their break just proved the Ryan Plan is was not what they say it is. In an attempt to hide or assume no one would actually read “the Plan” which was portrayed by Ryan and his crew as a matter of little or no importance like a tempest in a teapot. It is obvious in reality this plan has created a great big disturbance and or uproar in the Democratic Party but Republican constituents are feeling the betrayal and it is not just Seniors. The plan, aside from the other ill-advised requirements or stipulations listed on this plan is set to affect those 55 and under once considered no big thing quickly moved into something else.

The saying that keeps coming to mind is “a tempest in a teapot”, which is how I felt Republicans were acting. Now, well now that tempest has definitely turned into a storm and has raged out of control. The tempestuous relationship between the Democratic Party and Republicans has promoted violent behaviour by some, emotional responses by all in a time when both sides of the aisle need to come together to create and pass laws. Instead, the party of no has done whatever can do to ruin the President which is being done off the backs of the Middle Class let alone snatch whatever help is left for the working class and the poor. I have news for Republicans and it is that even your constituents are beginning to see the light though i won’t hold my breath i am expecting and demanding that the Democratic Party stand up an out for We the People and help continue that path toward the 21st Century by supporting Barack Obama efforts for a 2nd term.

Video: First look at our campaign plan -Jim Messina

I want to show you a quick presentation I’ve been giving to the first staff coming on board here in Chicago, outlining our strategy to win and our overall approach to this campaign.

In the weeks and months to come, we’ll ask grassroots supporters like you to meet with one another and local organizers to take the first steps to victory on November 6th, 2012.

But before we begin meeting in living rooms and backyards across America, it’s important that we communicate with each other about a set of principles for the organization and our overall strategic thinking about how the race will shape up.

The most important aspect is this: Our campaign will be grounded in President Obama’s experience as a community organizer. This notion of ordinary people taking responsibility for the organization at the neighborhood level is not only the way to win, it’s also the way politics ought to work. Our campaign will be an example of innovation and efficiency, but it will also be an example of civic engagement at its best and most rewarding.

Have a look at the briefing, then share it with your friends and neighbors and ask them to help build this campaign with us:

This plan will evolve as we get feedback from grassroots supporters like you over the weeks and months ahead. That’s already happening — as you know, we’ve already started the process of having one-on-one conversations with people in every state to gather thoughts and ideas, and thousands more talks will take place over this spring and summer.

But this briefing should give you a sense of our current thinking about how we’ll build an unprecedented grassroots campaign to win — with you leading it.

Thank you,

Messina
