This week, as thousands of sci-fi and superhero enthusiasts gather in San Diego for Comic-Con, here at the White House we’ll be gathering some of the Nation’s top innovators who are designing materials to enable real-life superpowers—including invisibility and super-strength.

Today in San Diego, the California Coastal Commission said “NO” to the Navy and their plan to deploy bombs and sonar sound off the Coastline that would likely injure, maim or kill millions of cetaceans over the next 5 years. They said that the Navy’s position is inadequate and unsupported by facts. They also said that the Navy did not keep its agreements in the past and that there was no point in making a compromise with them. In attendance were Lyndia, Lance and Kim of Whale and Dolphin Watch, several representatives from NRDC, Greenpeace, many other ocean organizations and dozens of individuals from near and far.

Although the decision only affects California waters, it is still significant as it sets a major precedent for the whole country. This will have far reaching implications for what can be done next, and ultimately the safety of our cetacean friends, the health of our oceans and our planet. In this case, your

participation may have shifted the tide that has so long moved in the direction of disrespect and outright disregard for our oceans. We hear from a major environmental organization that your signatures have energized this movement in a big way!!!

We are not done with this issue yet. This week end is our last chance for signatures on our petition to go to NOAA/National Marine Fisheries on Monday. Will you help us out?

BBG Communications and BBG Global offices are located in San Diego, CA. They provide a variety of telecommunication services such as digital lines, high speed Internet, Intranet, public telephony, teleauditor, worldwide long distance calling, and zero plus calling at credit card only payphone stations Germany and other countries. BBG Global’s website owns and operates 350,000 pay phones in airports, train stations, and hotels in more than 30 countries.

Reports are that the cost of using BBG Communications has been a problem for quite some time.Now, US troops have decided to fight back. Americans must join in and demand justice for all who have been affected; we can do this.

When Specialist Reynald Matias was heading to Afghanistan with his Army unit late last year,their chartered flight stopped to refuel at Leipzig-halle Airport in Germany.During a brief layover, he called his wife in Tacoma, Wash.,using his debit card on a pay phone in the terminal’s troops-only transit lounge. His wife, Crystal, asked, “What are they charging you?” He did not know, so she told him to hang up. A few days later she got the answer: $51 for what she estimated was a 2minute call. “Military pay isn’t up there, “she said. “It really hurt us.” Another Soldier, Sgt.Corder, said he was billed $41 last year for a 3-second call in which he left a message on the family’s answering machine. The Sargent’s lawsuit was first written about last fall by Army Times and newspapers in Texas.
It is time for BBG Communications & BBG Global to stop taking advantage American Soldiers who are already under such stress fighting in defense of the U.S. Now, their families are subjected to financial distress; this is completely unacceptable. Complaints from service members have reached the United States Transportation Command and the Leipzig airport.

However, press officers state they have no control over the pay phones.
It is time for Americans to Stand with & Speak Up for our Troops, who have taken an oath to support and defend the U.S. with their lives..

Chicken of the Sea’s Commitment to Sustainability …

Dear Consumer:
Thank you for your email and for sharing our concern about the sustainability of the tuna species. As a leading American tuna brand, we are actively working to ensure there is plenty of tuna today, and for generations to come. The long-term sustainability of the world’s fisheries is clearly in everyone’s best interest, especially Chicken of the Sea‘s.
Long before the Greenpeace campaign, in March 2009, three of America’s most popular tuna companies, founded the International Seafood Sustainability Foundation (ISSF). The ISSF is the first organization of its kind – a partnership between the tuna processing industry, the world’s leading fishery scientists and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization. The ISSF now represents nearly 75 percent of the world’s shelf-stable tuna production. Its mission is to undertake science-based initiatives to support the long-term sustainability of tuna stocks, reduction of by-catch and promotion of ecosystem health. The ISSF does this by supporting the conservation recommendations of tuna Regional Fisheries Management Organizations (RFMO) scientific committees. Since its inception, the ISSF and its members have committed to a number of meaningful resolutions and actions supporting this mission.
Most recently, the ISSF and its participants released the “Make the Commitment” global improvement plan which calls for best practices and commitments across purse seine, longline and pole and line fisheries. The commitments were developed in conjunction with the ISSF Stakeholder Committee, a group that includes representatives from various global conservation and scientific bodies. Groups involved include the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Conservation International, New England Aquarium, FishWise and Birdlife International, among others. Involvement in the ISSF Stakeholder Committee does not imply endorsement, but invites stakeholder organizations to participate in the collective review and analysis of research and ISSF program initiatives.
Greenpeace has been invited to join the ISSF Stakeholder Committee and has repeatedly declined. While Greenpeace is talking, the ISSF and its partners are doing the work necessary to preserve the world’s tuna for today and tomorrow.
Additionally, as a leading tuna brand, Chicken of the Sea is committed to protecting dolphins and we are proud to share with you our worldwide policy to save dolphin lives. This policy states that:

Chicken of the Sea will not purchase any tuna caught in association with dolphins.
We remain committed to this policy and require certification that all tuna we purchase is dolphin-safe. Our dolphin-safe policy includes Chicken of the Sea tuna, as well as all of our branded and private label products. Chicken of the Sea tuna is labeled with a special “Dolphin-Safe” logo.
