Breaking: GOP Targets Washington

36 Days Until the Election

NRCC Ad Buy Map

News broke this morning that John Boehner‘s campaign squad is going up with attack ads in Washington. What actions you take in the next few hours will be critical to Democrats‘ successes in November.

Thursday midnight marks the last and final FEC quarterly deadline of the campaign, which means we need your support right now to prevent the GOP from dominating the airwaves with swift boat attacks in the critical final weeks leading up to the election.

While I am more confident than ever that we can retain our Majority, we must do everything we possibly can in these final days to fight back. There is too much at stake to leave any race without enough rapid response resources to fight back. We need 11 supporters from Seattle to give today to keep pace.

Please help by midnight Thursday and we will match your gift 2-to-1 from a group of committed Democrats, tripling your impact.

This deadline is the one that every pundit, talking head and Republican will use to measure our chances in November.

While I am more confident than ever that we can retain our Majority, we must do everything we possibly can in these final days to fight back. We can’t wake up on November 3rd with a single regret. Contribute today before Thursday’s deadline.

Thank you for standing with us.

Onward to victory,

Early Voter Action Fund: 24 Hours Left
$122,646 TO GO: Contribute Today >>
40 Days Until the Election

Saturday is another critical make-or-break day for our campaigns nationwide.

Local Washington organizers are ready to go door-to-door this Saturday to make sure voters know the truth about Democrats fighting for the middle-class and tea party Republicans attempting to hide their radical ideas — but we can’t do it without your help.

We need 17 supporters from Seattle to help equip local organizers for this Saturday’s massive Voter Outreach Day of Action.

Almost every pundit agrees it’s all going to come down to turnout and who can get their supporters to the polls. That means voter contact NOW when early voting is starting will be critical to our success in November. We are short $122,646 before our deadline in just 24 hours to get the money to our campaigns in time.

Will you contribute before tomorrow’s midnight deadline to help power our National Day of Action? Your gift will be matched 2-to-1 by a group of committed Democrats.

“Boehner for Speaker” Republicans and their corporate-funded front groups just launched a barrage of new ads attacking House Democrats who stood strong against the special interests. With early voting starting this week in battleground states, we can’t sit back and let their lies take hold.

The right-wing shadow groups may have millions in right-wing special interest cash but they can’t hide the fact that their Republican candidates support unpopular ideas like privatizing Social Security and tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas.

With your support, we’re going to give voters the facts they need to fight the right-wing spin.

Help us make sure voters have the facts on tea party Republicans’ radical ideas by contributing to our Early Voter Action Fund today. Your gift will be matched 2-to-1 by a group of committed Democrats.

Onward to victory!

wild Wednesday &some News

Today, we have a full moon, it’s the last day of summer and a whole lot of sunshine is still expected in the 206. The people of Seattle are excited that President Obama not only called the Seattle Storm to congratulate them for their 2nd WNBA title but they have been invited to the White House. In other news; some new rules from the work the Democratic Party did to reform health care will start today. The President will be announcing how our new health care laws will help you out if you have children in college explain how your insurance can no longer drop you based on your illness and more. Which by the way starts 9.23.2010

We Democrats are in the fight for our lives …we not only have to beat back the Media but comments coming from folks on the floor of Congress like McCain,Mitchell and others have the guts to lie and wait for someone to challenge them… McCain says S.3454 was a ploy Mitchell says they “Dems” are trying to sedate their base the special interest groups.

I would like to respond to the nasty man McConnell & McCains comment about S.3454 beingin a political ploy …. God i hope so because it’s clear Republicans don’t give a shit about Americans in general to have voted no on every piece of legislation that would have gotten us closer to the improvement folks are now complaining about… To be sure the problem standing in the way of progress ? Republicans!!! Ask your Republican member of Congress if they voted yes to any legislation that would have helped get the middle class back on track.

In my need to constantly express how important it is that our Democratic Party get energy needed to throw down with votes in November. The difference between the two Political Parties is evident but we have major obstacles when it comes to getting our message into the airwaves. The media has made a decision to go with controversy instead of what used to be called fair and balanced News information making it quite likely that folks do not get or care to listen to the facts about why we are all still suffering. This election year is important because we need more true Democrats on the floor of Congress to get that change 53% voted for in 2008. We need to help not make it hard on our party; we are the change we have all been looking for and though folks may be down about the crap being done or lack there of; sitting this election year out is totally unacceptable and will only hurt our case and our future. The November elections are only six weeks away and people who are not registered to vote should; you are obligated to.  I am not going to ask that you vote my way, that usually is on the agenda of anyone asking for people to register to vote… my guess is that we all see what is going on, have some sense of right and wrong, watched what happened on 9/11, Katrina, Africa, the BP mess, the constant rhetoric that seems not only racists but folks are not just right of center those who seemed moderate are now going hard right with an ideology that seems to speak out against those of us in Protected Classes. If so, We need to Unite and vote this creeps out of office in November because unless and until we do the talk will move into action and that needless to say will be against families in this 21st Century, against progress of and for All Americans not just a select few Newt, Limbaugh beck and the others are talking about. I have been a democrat forever and feel that ultimately the things going on are all non-partisan realities, that the 2 party thing needs to end because we are all in this together and can all be taken out as well.  It goes without saying we are all affected by bad air, bad roads, health care, heart attacks, low wages, bad education, wars. It seems like the 2party system is not working for anyone and when the majority has trouble passing legislation it begs the question maybe something needs to change. I know it is not just me feeling that the filibuster and the 60vote rule need to go or at least be changed to majority rules. I use to think maybe we should end our 2 party system and just vote on the person who seems to be the most qualified to do the job. Then our economy collapsed and the good bad and really ugly side of people became worse as our Public Servants decided to throw Americans under the bus with an agenda to regain control of Congress. It is not lost on me but maybe it is on Republican constituents that folks on the right do not even seem to care if their own followers have jobs, have unemployment, keep Teachers in place or that the streets will continue to be monitored because … People your Republican Representatives voted no to HR1586 some even called it a bailout …If anyone had sense who is currently calling themselves a Republican would without a blink vote for the Democratic party but instead crazy people are being voted into possible positions of power some are by default and all this madness we see on tv has gotten me scared as a mom, person of colour and as female who believe in the right to choose believes that women should get equal pay for equal work and the rhetoric should have more people outraged and ready for November because it is a pivotal moment.

I know that Republicans cannot be counted on to solve discrimination,  reform immigration laws that are silly, stop the poor from getting poorer, stop tax breaks that benefit the rich, oil drilling that threaten to damage our environment, reform education that seems to be compromised, government officials that are crooks, big companies allowed to rip the American worker of all it was working for, laws that can tell people what they do behind closed doors makes them unacceptable and unable to have equality, women who do the same or similar job as men but get paid .77 on the dollar, colleges, offices, businesses that  by- pass racial balance, police that participate in racial profiling, we live in a system that has different laws for different states, maybe  future laws will at least be updated, those that are ridiculous omitted and the balance of the rule of law will be placed on the same level in each and every state. Republicans are the problem in my opinion.

We the people seem too quiet- too complacent.

just saying

Thursday …&some News

Washingtonians woke up this morning having to accept the news that Ken Griffey Jr decided to retire.  It was a very sad announcement but most of us here in Seattle were glad he came back and finished his unbelievable career here.  It’s a day that deserves a peaceful start possibly repeated throughout the day  … so reach up  slowly breathe in deeply be still be calm and slowly release your breath as you lower your arms head shoulders and waist while bending your knees …repeat as needed.

Lets be clear —the stuff going on now was not started during the Obama Administration the rules and de-regulations started long before President Obama took the reigns; now is the time to fix the problems and he is trying but without the cooperation of Congress we will continue to have fires sprout up only to spray them out temporarily … we need the change that  53% voted for and the man to do it is President but the right keeps stalling blocking and making our lives  very difficult… now the Gulf Coast is at risk because of the de-regulation that Republicans like, need and continue to vote for … We need Reform People and the Democratic Party has been trying but the Political Party of NO  is on the side of Big Oil Corporations, Big Banks, Big Insurance and Wall Street… the very people that helped drive this country into a financial ditch which effected everything else associated

The President will be meeting with Gov. Jan Brewer… lets hope he does whatever to relax before the meeting begins because her latest comments gave some of us the impression that she was in it to fight; not to examine the constitutionality of the law, negotiate or realize what she and lawmakers of Arizona have done by implementing SB1070, the birther law and maybe other laws that permit the police to legally practice discrimination and as a brown person; where does it end? Just ask people of colour in other places about reasonable suspicion or probable cause as we drive walk and or loiter being black on any given day gets pulled over. This law will give police the right to act as an ICE agent which takes money, training and efforts that will take away from the every day criminal behavior and applying the rule of law;  comprehensive immigration cannot happen without a pathway for people to become American citizens.

The latest reports about BP and the procedure that didn’t work   … is that they were able to cut the pipe but a jagged edge was left and might prevent them from getting a good seal making them decide to go with another type of dome.  There were reports that BP was able to restrict flights going over the Gulf Coast oil spill though the FAA has stated they were not… reports of  code words for nasty air def health risk situations are now called “bad air days” which are becoming more often… and more light is being shown on the lack of safety for workers; as Tony Hayward stated that the worker illnesses were due to “food poisoning.”  There are  people who have firsthand experience with what is going on and are reporting that the President might not have been given all the information about what BP is doing and what they actually have control over.

And if BP has more control than being reported; we need to ask the Obama Administration why and maybe it is time to seize BP as suggested by Progressives on TV Cable and Radio; is the 6 month moratorium enough time to evaluate, make big oil Corporations reinforce changes or provide equipment for emergencies because clearly they have none; should we adopt the same rules as Canada?.  There are a lot of folks on the left telling the Administration, NOAA and the EPA  that they need to separate themselves from BP insist on more action than is being done currently; and no that does not mean nationalizing this thing because the government is not in the oil cleaning business.. But- the talk from credible people like riki ott continues; is an expert and is speaking up and out about what is going on the Gulf Coast; maybe the Obama Administration should listen.

because…

Riki Ott stated during a Reuter’s interview that “A friend in New Orleans is concerned about the oil fumes now engulfing the southern part of town. He says it “smells pretty strong–stronger than standing in a busy mechanics shop, but not as bad as the bus station in Tijuana.” State health officials are warning people who are sensitive to reduced air quality to stay indoors, but anyone who experiences the classic symptoms of crude oil overexposure–nausea, vomiting, headaches, or cold or flu-like symptoms–should seek medical help.”  This is serious: Oil spill cleanups are regulated as hazardous waste cleanups because oil is, in fact, hazardous to health. Breathing oil fumes is extremely harmful.”

last …the info below is from Think Progress and the comment from the Los Angeles Times; though totally on point it just seems like Americans aren’t getting the progress being made or the fact that we are finally moving into the 21st Century … obvious more needs to be done but the step forward is there...     Congress is racking up a record of landmark policy changes in health care, financial industry regulation, economic policy and more, reports the Los Angeles Times. Nevertheless, Congress is facing high levels of disapproval because “they have not done a good job communicating the virtues of their policies, even to potentially receptive voters.”

At least 24 of this year’s bills have passed,” and the final total may hit the 2005 high of 34. TP

**President Obama is arguing that the Gulf oil catastrophe highlights the need to pass clean energy reform in the Senate. A clean energy future depends on “putting a price on carbon pollution,” Obama said. He added that “the votes may not be there right now, but I intend to find them in the coming months.” TP

BP Successfully Cuts Oil Pipe , Attempts to cap; Delay Shareholder Dividends Requested

Today, crews managed to cut through the pipe from the leaking well in the Gulf of Mexico. The next step is to proceed with plans to cap the pipe and begin pumping oil to tanker ships.
Also, the White House announced that President Obama will return to the Gulf region tomorrow.
In a letter to the British oil company’s chief executive, Senators Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Ron Wyden (D-OR) asked BP to suspend plans to pay shareholder dividends until the cleanup cost of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is calculated. So far, BP PLC has paid out an estimated $1 billion to clean up the leak and is expected to spend billions more. The dividend is reportedly worth an expected $10 billion.
