A call to action to those fighting for fair share … Stand UP and be counted

In a time when millions are unemployed, more layoffs coming and Corporate America is still outsourcing and holding jobs hostage. The Republican Party continues to cut slash and burn American Workers on the State and City levels. The party of No, which used to be just a conservative family values scary group, is now so extreme that the slogan “taking their country back”, is no longer code and the Teapublican base loves it. Obviously, it is about not wanting “his kind” in the White House. The notion that President Obama resembles any of those stupid adjectives Rience Priebus and his comrades use to describe President Obama belongs in a SNL sketch. While we all might want to laugh …reality check – our Democracy seems to be at risk.

What happened to the buyer’s remorse of 2010 and FYI seniors cannot forget what Teapublicans have in mind for them … Vouchers and Privatization

Yes, Teapublicans want to Privatize Public Service Jobs, which includes Teachers, Fire Fighters, Police, while gutting Social Service programs that help the elderly, women, and children already suffering are now willing to take the basics away from the middle class. The fact is Teapublicans have successfully forced their ideology into our lives. The latest Teapublican mission accomplished, getting a conservative at the helm of a Woman’s health care Company for one let alone the power to shove Women off the health care resource cliff. I wonder did she say one thing and do another because my memory of the old Komen for the cure would know that Women’s health care should be safe and affordable. The New Susan G Komen for the cure’s decision to dump or halt grants to Planned Parenthood has lost the support of many who have donated in the name of someone they love or because of the connection and knowledge, that women’s health care has to come from different resources. Yet, the New Komen for cure and the actions of Justice Roberts regarding Citizens United offer up a peak at how Teapublicans want us to live. I am upset and feel the New Komen for the cure has betrayed all who say Planned Parenthood saved their lives and it is obvious that Citizens United has upset the balance of fair play with unlimited amounts of cash being injected into campaigning …

My question to you is … Who do you blame for the chaos?

While the Democratic Party battles in Congress against attacks on the middle class. Teapublicans on the State level have managed to pass legislation against women, voter, children, and worker rights. I wonder what our neighborhoods will look after this nasty group is finished wreaking havoc on us all on the local level. We need to fight back on both the local and Federal level. We all have to know that the more folks out of work the better the chances of less quality but more costly those services will be. Think separate but equal. I have to say, it is disturbing to see in the light of day how low the Party of NO is willing to go with deals made in the shadows.

The media and certain Politicians say that in times of crisis people separate into cliques. I say Teapublican Politicians and “the media” that engage them have been doing a great job in manipulating the information viewers hear or see. It is offensive but best believe no one should forget Boehner, Cantor, McConnell made a choice to play games with the lives of Americans instead of passing legislation that would get us back on track, disagree but a divided government is unacceptable. I have to say the November Midterms was proof that manipulation works. These jerks used false info, anger and American gullibility to move their agenda forward, clearly a whole lot of Tea Party carpetbaggers said one thing and did another.

We all probably have family or know people who marched for civil and equal rights, felt compelled to be a part of that ideal of “strength in numbers” we all hear frequently that I consider important and speaks volumes when a change is near just over the horizon waiting to happen. This feeling of wanting a better way of life is spreading all over the world and while a couple of tyrants have seen the light others continue to participate in overt genocide, others shutdown access to the World outside and risk killing their own people. I get the feeling the Republican Tea Party is a lot like those folks in other countries currently doing all they can to either keep control or take anyone down that happens to be in the way. In our case, American voters are demanding fair share but the people with the power have gone rogue without thinking about what the full impact on the lives of the many will be or don’t care and have decided to take that risk and try to usurp the rights of Americans whether it’s done legally, by consensus or not.

We are all Freedom Fighters on some level every day.

Romney’s record as a corporate raider backs up his words: He supports laws that attack workers’ rights and make it easier to fire people. Laws like the so-called “right to work” bill being considered in Indiana that targets collective bargaining, robbing workers of union protection.

If Indiana’s so-called “right to work” bill passes, the state’s unions no longer will stand between corporate raiders like Mitt Romney and many of the workers they like to fire to boost short-term profits. And it will become much harder for everyday workers to improve their wages, benefits and retirement security.

If you agree with the AFL-CIO that our leaders need to work together on an agenda that actually creates jobs—and stop following the lead of corporate raiders like Mitt Romney—add your name to our “I like leaders who hire people” petition.

In 2011, we saw the beginnings of a new democratic movement for economic justice. We had the most solidarity I’ve seen at any time during my career in the labor movement. We shifted the debate. And we’ll keep doing it.

But to translate this movement into lasting change, politics matter. Not just who we elect for president, but our choices at the state and local levels, too.

America wants to work—and it is politics as usual, not economic obstacles, standing in the way of putting people back to work. That’s why we’re promoting a job-creating agenda in statehouses around the country this year, focusing on priorities like:

Making sure state tax dollars are used to keep jobs in that state and in America.
Buying state-made and American-made goods—so we create jobs in our communities and in America.
Stopping corporate tax loopholes and tax breaks for millionaires—so our states no longer are starved of the revenue they need for critical services.

The change that 53% of us voted for is again at risk. For three years the change and progress needed to get America/Americans back on track has suffered and though folks in the Media fail to convey it sufficiently, we can blame our lack of progress stopped, blocked, stalled, scaled back and slowed down by the Teapublican Political Party. Obvious statement right yet, folks still seem to be oblivious.

You can turn it to just about any channel and hear how the Independent vote is up for grabs. Most pundit’s strategists and politicians say it is about the economy and the terrible jobs numbers but fail to tell the viewer in detail what the party of NO have done to stand in the way of progress. I do believe if you are going to call yourself a reporter then do your job and give viewers both sides of the story otherwise you are a partisan hack. I find it hard to believe anyone has to stop think or wonder which Teapublican candidate running for President should even get a 2^nd look much less bat around the possibility of giving up women’s , voter, worker, gay or our children’s right to an education to them. I am not that naïve but it really is simple; we need a better Congress that will work with the President. It is up to those who do lean left of center to reach out to our fellow independents to keep them informed. It is important to challenge the crap coming out that clearly are lies, on the edge or overtly reflect a nasty rhetoric often spewing fear hate and discrimination. It is a call to action of all those who believe in our Constitution in every way; welcomes everyone that believe in that saying We the People, the 14^th Amendment and equality for All people regardless of the race, creed, religious or gender preference. It is at a moment like this that begs us all to let those who practice exclusion hears from those who believe in helping our fellow man. The fight against income inequality is on.

I don’t know about you but I tend to have a stash of sayings, proverbs, and or clichés in the back of my mind when patience calmness and reflection is needed when disagreeable rhetoric is flying my way. I give President Obama some major props for being calm cool collected as always. I appreciate and love those traits and if you are paying attention not one Teapublican running for President has yet to behave or display an even-tempered manner. I won’t be voting right of center period but if you are looking for things to compare and contrast the stark differences in tone verbiage and representation you can vision a moment when a country wanting to provoke war is pushing it. I know who I would trust how about you.

I believe … Sometimes, the needs of the many do outweigh the needs of the few. Yes, the current ugly rhetoric coming from those leaning right is meant to hurt conquer & divide us. It is also clear that in this election year when life amongst Americans is changing and not in a good way only to have gotten worse since the 2010 midterm elections though President Obama has moved us forward despite conservatives almost all by himself, Teapublican Governors, and their members of Congress keep doing their best to undermine it all. At first, Teapublican Governors were throwing coded language at those mostly in protected classes. Thus, the need to recite the saying “When the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.” is an important statement for me right about now. The Fact that some on Wall Street made big bets against or in spite of an under regulated inefficient supposedly “free enterprise” system seemingly set up against the consumer proved to me that they believe themselves to be above the call and refuse to, consider the needs of the many and continue to fight for the few.

If you were unfortunate enough to have been a victim of the 2008 financial collapse, invested in it directly maybe your 401k, or are a part of the housing debacle, you probably suffered tremendously. Yes, the government had to step in and up to help All Americans because unfortunately it was clear “the market” was not going to correct itself- the bets – the casino shut itself down. The economic collapse was an opportunity to see to “the needs of the many” change the failed ways that the house of Bush apparently was handling things and move All Americans into the 21^st Century. Yet, McConnell and his comrades decided to put their heads down and fight for the rights of the 1% oh those job creators need our help repeatedly. I don’t know about you but I am getting tired of this nonsense.

What Wall Street did was take tax payer money and then shit on us on so many levels

I admit it; I am biased so any negative comments about President Obama get a second or third scan. I gotta say listening, reading and hearing comments coming from the likes of a matt damon, harry belafonte or groups the msm calls special interest though President Obama, having taken great first steps toward change state, I guess, that he has not gone far enough. It is my contention that we vote for a President not a puppet, dictator or king so the notion that he had a mandate or needs to sedate or fulfill the promises he made to some special interest groups during his campaign is beyond ridiculous let alone that stupid comment about President Obama being morally corrupt. First, just as many special interest groups are very happy, supportive and plan to express that by voting for Barack Obama for a second term. Second, all you have to do is compare and contrast the facts and President Obama is definitely putting “the needs of the many before the needs of the few; thankfully so. While Independents seem to be holding out they should decide what side of history do they want to be remembered taking.

I think the negative comments are becoming bold, louder and more frequent but they are coming from the right, the more extreme side of our society certainly special in their own way… have chosen to go extreme go right of center and in some cases sound very dangerous but hey that is just my take. The whole class warfare the 99% V 1% the poor V the Rich. I say the battle is about how and not allowing a Black man govern in the White House again let alone the other awful code words being used to induce fear into Americans. I say the Black Man as President Thing who btw has gotten more things done then previous Presidents cannot and should not be forced back into that genie bottle though some Teapublicans in Congress and their constituents seem to want to. FYI, governing for the greater good has nothing to do with colour if the mind and heart are for ALL Americans not a select few. Though the house of Bush created 3million jobs, the fact is that shameful number took him 8yrs to accomplish. I have to wonder WTH are people beating up/down President Obama when the last guy obviously skated. We can also blame the Media for the selective and misinformation they all seem to provide viewers what with ratings seemingly more important than giving all angles of a story or giving a guest an opportunity to rebut the opinions of the host or commentator.

Change takes time… It will take a Congress with courage to create and pass laws that should be for the greater good that covers all Americans.

Sometimes, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

—Newt GingrichHere are words you won’t hear from me very often: I agree with Newt Gingrich.As Mr. Gingrich recently pointed out, presidential hopeful Mitt Romney “looted” companies, leaving behind “broken families and broken neighborhoods.” That’s not the kind of capitalism that built America.If you agree that job creation is a critical part of capitalism—and that unions are a critical voice to stop job-killers like Mitt Romney from taking over our democracy—then sign our petition.

While I agree with Mr. Gingrich’s point about the kind of capitalism that works for working people, it’s unfortunate that both Mr. Gingrich and Mr. Romney are on the wrong side of most issues that matter to working people.

For example, they are both on record in support of so-called “right to work” legislation, like the bill that’s being considered in Indiana. This misnamed bill has nothing to do with “rights”—and it has terrible consequences for people’s work.

If “right to work” passes, Indiana’s unions no longer will stand between corporate raiders like Mitt Romney and many of the workers they like to fire to boost short-term profits. And it will become much harder for everyday workers to improve their wages, benefits and retirement security.

Like leaders who focus on policies that will get people hired into good, family-sustaining jobs? Sign our petition.

BREAKING: Administration takes step forward with family unity waiver

New procedure change could keep more families together

Last month, we resolved to make 2012 the year for immigrant families — the year we show our united strength to defend our communities from the threats of the broken, unjust American immigration system.Today, the administration is proposing changes that would keep hundreds of thousands of families together.Imagine this scenario: your father leaves home to apply for his US visa — and finds himself barred from returning. Or your wife, finalizing her application to gain a visa, is stuck waiting months across the border, with no form of recourse.

Situations like these are reality for hundreds of thousands of immigrants and their families. It’s a catch-22 in the American immigration system: if you return to your country of origin to apply for a visa, you trigger a bar of 3 or even 10 years that prevents you from coming back to the US.

The administration is proposing family unity waivers that would allow spouses and children of US citizens to file for visas while remaining in the US.

Today’s announcement is welcome news. This reform could prevent parents from missing a decade of their children’s lives, and spouses from facing years without the support and care of their partners. There’s nothing abstract about potentially sparing hundreds of thousands of individuals from being separated from their families for years.
