50 million Americans rely on Medicare. It has the highest satisfaction rating of any health plan, public or private. It has lower overhead than comparable private plans. Medicare promised, in the words of President Johnson, that “every citizen will be able…to insure himself against the ravages of illness in his old age.” Medicare has kept that promise. Millions have already paid into Medicare, yet the House Republicans just voted to dismantle it. Instead of getting the health care they’ve earned, seniors would receive a coupon and a lecture about freedom. What the Republicans in the House don’t understand is that Medicare isn’t just a program; it is our inheritance. Our parents and grandparents fought to provide working people with a retirement with dignity and security. They entrusted this system to us. Will we pass it on? Campaign for America’s Future is defending Medicare in Washington and making the case across the country. To keep on this mission, we need your help. Thanks for all you do,
