Dear Charter Members and Friends,We appreciate all of our amazing Charter Members and donors. It is your unwavering support that has been instrumental in building this museum. The dedication of our monthlysustainers also plays a pivotal role in the progress of our mission and we thank you all. One Monthly Sustainer in particular stands out and we would like to tell you about her and to say THANK YOU!

JUANITA!

Juanita Tamayo Lott resides in San Francisco, California, and from across the country she makes a difference each and every month. According to Juanita, “A monthly giving plan is a convenient way to provide long term stability and commitment to ensure that the NMAAHC becomes a reality.” As the donor of the “Juanita Tamayo Lott Filipino American Photographs and Papers” to the National Museum of American History, she understands how instrumental the Smithsonian Institution is in telling the story of our country and our culture. “I wanted Lonnie Bunch, my other Smithsonian friends, and former DC-area neighbors to know that I fully support their heavy lifting in the fields. I look forward to celebrating/harvesting the 2016 opening of NMAAHC with them!” Juanita began giving monthly in November 2011, and after learning that the building had risen above the ground she personally called to double her monthly amount! Thank you so much Juanita for your support and dedication to the NMAAHC!

Based on your past support I know you believe in the completion of this Museum, I invite you to become a Monthly Sustainer like Juanita. You may be asking -Why should I become a Monthly Sustainer?

First off, it’s easy, and you can make a donation for as low as $8.00 per month. While that may not seem like a lot, it is a dedicated donation that we can count on each and every month to ensure the success of our mission. Since you will be giving on a monthly basis we will not mail you any additional gift requests or renewal notices. Plus, you don’t have to keep up with writing checks and mailing donations on time, and it saves us postage and reduces our administrative costs!

As a Monthly Sustainer you will receive the following benefits:

monthly sustainer card

  • A National Museum of African History and Culture Monthly Sustainer Charter Member card
  • A 10% Discount at any Smithsonian Stores and the Smithsonian Catalog
  • Your name listed on our electronic Charter Member Honor Roll.
  • Periodic E-News updates about our construction progress, public programs, and other interesting happenings at our Museum
  • An annual tax receipt letter sent in February which includes the total of all your fully tax-deductible monthly gifts, including any additional gifts you may have made beyond your monthly contribution.
If you are already a Charter Member, you will continue to be a Charter Member if you become a Monthly Sustainer as it is just a different form of Charter Membership.
