Republicans … say one thing in front of cameras and continue to vote another on the floor of Congress

demsVrepub

yep, just another rant … Please Vote to keep #BidenHarris intact in 2022! This is a post from 2013 tweaked

The 113th-116th Congress’ are long gone, but it should be noted they were “in session”  or “at work” fewer days than most of their constituents, even with the attack of #Covid-19 … the people they seem to keep saying depend on,” the government tit for entitlements,” then without remorse proceed to vote against the average voter and their lives … some Republicans call “average voter” their constituents lazy and these constituents continue to vote against their best interests? I still cannot understand this.  The nonsense continued with the 114th, 115th, 116th Congress, and now here we are with the 117th Congress.  Thank goodness, the 117th Congress is mostly a predominantly Democratic Party.   We have a slim but winning trifecta. We all must support trust and push for great policies that help ALL, Not a select few, in America.

Furthermore, we the people were governed by a guy with no political experience; seemingly no sense of real loyalty to what most of us call #AmericanValues, doesn’t seem to be a true Republican or a person who leans left though the fact is he has given $$ to both, he said a lot, done little though the executive orders he once hated when President Obama was in office came fast hard and against We The People. His comments for the action are incoherent at times and a lot of those policies will be doing some damage shortly… btw, can somebody tell this to trump voters, who while now possibly are all insurrectionists; most will still reap the benefits the rest of us vote for and that is offensive. The trifecta he held, aka our 3 branches of government, was capable of doing the right thing, but they decided slashing, burning, cutting average voter lives to shreds, stalled CHIP, and holding DACA/Dreamers politically hostage was better for their agenda. This group once called DACA kids #incrediblekids now saying on every platform possible that they are bad folks, illegals, criminals, and murderers. This trifecta government held a lot of secret meetings, seemingly making secret deals constantly; lest we understand or accept that all of this talk is not only cheap … The truth is being manipulated and what most of us know as the truth has officially become known as  “alternative facts”  … sigh

What happened to Congress?

It should make Americans all wonder if $175K for members of Congress is just too much for public servants that work less than 120 days a year as members of Congress, led by Republicans. The thing is they seem to think the rest of us need 2 maybe 3 jobs, and deserve less social services among some other stupid things like fewer migrant families, though reports are that the Trump administration has requested foreign workers for Mar-a-Lago numerous times a year. I am SMH. While I am not an expert, it is certainly important to know our GDP will suffer if he goes full out to ban the browns and blacks

Yes, it is time to breathe in slowly and slowly release your breath … be still, then repeat the process when needed as insanity in the News, and Politics begins to try and make viewers accept the trump era as valid that “alternative facts” are real while the extreme right puts it on loop mode.  The idea that Americans should just trust anyone on a news platform and or in the highest office or a member of Congress at face value is a joke especially when that looks like “performance art” seeming not only like they believe what they are saying but assume that no one is paying attention to their behavior on the floor of Congress because they certainly act like we all have amnesia every time they get a chance to be hooked up to a mic!

So, again … Congress, if led by republicans will say one thing while in front of the camera while planning a takedown in secret rooms; tossing their titles of Public Servant down the nearest sewer which makes you wonder how we will ever pass the Voters Right Act, immigration reform and other bills For Americans when a good faith effort is kept off the floor of Congress because of political competition and poison pill amendments added.  There was a time when we would tell the Republican Party they need to be more inclusive because trust, respect, and future votes are not seasonal or easily earned, nor should they be. The current Republican Party has many leaving, stating this party is no longer worthy … due to white nationalism or something even worse.

Who else felt like the era of trump while not over per se, his reign as POTUS felt so much longer than four years

on 1/6/21, the ugly happened

The fact is, the era of trump created misguided, awful people gullible to false misleading information and some were just waiting for this guy to finally arrive.  We have seen a lot of divisive behavior since 2016, which makes a left-leaning voter wonder, can Republicans continue on this path, continue to get away with so much, and not pay for the BS that happened in the 2016 or 2020 elections and at the DC Mall?  Okay, I don’t know about you, but the number of times I actually had to stop and take a deep breath as we watched the government of trump try to take our country beyond the extreme right rivals the number of times we had to listen to Republicans continue to say one thing in front of the camera while voting the opposite on the floor of Congress. Some of us watched in horror as they acted; remember (acted) like they plan to be bipartisan, but they continued to show themselves to be less than trustworthy, less than bipartisan and their votes … Please check any and all republican members voting records! This is proof of how they actually feel about constituents that cannot be denied or overlooked.

Republicans have been waiting for a trifecta that allows them to vote and pass bills without hearings or much debate. So, folks must call your member of Congress because the next generation is counting on us because climate change is real, Women deserve reproductive rights, the voting rights act should be permanent, immigration reform and a real jobs act is the American path toward Stability, not Austerity though Republicans seem to keep pushing or that 2007 financial collapse just didn’t impact them enough

– When you’re a rich member of Congress; you tend to say, do as We say Not as we do, and they continue to Vote as they want or get paid to vote NOT the way they sold/ran their campaign  on

I want America to wake up, push back, and demand all members of Congress do the People’s business

#VotingMatters

Republicans see themselves as stewards of the purse strings in the House of Representatives, but it does not give them the right to toss #WeThePeople under the bus, who as taxpayers give them not only a salary but government healthcare?

All elections from here on will decide what kind of life we all want our next generation to navigate through … please take the time to understand what and who is causing America to decline at this time  … The House of Representatives holds the American #PurseStrings which is why Americans have been held, hostage when Republicans are given that task to govern… try leaning left

This is America … time to face the changes needed to reflect words in the Constitution or are they just words?

Just another rant …On January 21st,  we all saw posts on social media cheering for America’s new president and had to respond.

I admit trump won the Electoral vote, trump did not win the Popular Vote, which is more important to most Americans who believe in one person, one vote.  Obviously,  America seemed stunned at how election 2016 turned out and though there was talk about the electoral vote and how changes to the caucus, delegate rules, and processes, which have been a subject of debate for years- republicans are feeling themselves and doing little on all levels least we talk about the number of actual Sessions held in Congress.

Then, in 2024, something wicked this way came, and the words to describe what happened are still hard to find.

Unfortunately, the electoral process not only gave us trump, but a MAGA Trifecta Congress, that has became what some call “something else” and they still don’t seem to care or be worried or interested in much else other than getting lifetime judges appointed rather than preparing for another cyber attack, infrastructure, climate, fires, natural disasters or keeping the chaos down to a low roar let alone how to improve the caucus and delegate rules. btw, we have had several cases of foreign spies being arrested for federal crimes, yet, trumps focus seems to be on clearing out Brown and Black immigrants from America

Ah… to be an American in this era of trump, who started his bid for president by shouting that Obama is not an American?  Yet, if you follow trump’s rise, and I do not use that word loosely,  we are definitely still hearing folks comparing him to Hitler, maybe Mussolini, while seemingly supporting white nationalists and or supremacists as well. Yes, some say he is acting a little like Napoleon, or dreams of being a king, and yes, it is all snarky … but ultimately nouns like authoritarian or a dictator are more likely the goal; none of which is accepted or the norm here in the US of A.  I voted for Hillary, supported her without question, knowing what we had …it was a binary choice.  This man is NOT presidential material, cannot fix our problem, he is NOT our savior, nor does he care about his constituents, who sadly were/are misinformed in my opinion. Apparently, with fear being tossed around like candy, his constituents are all too willing to be pushed and verbally shoved into whatever direction they need to change the balance of white Vs nonwhite America?

However, the coming change will appear positive to all those in his camp, and given the position of power the President has, #teamtrump can and will do anything they want.   The thing is, our end result seems to be headed in a negative direction.  Why do I say this, any person with so much power should know not to act out with revenge in your mind, he has a reputation, is called a narcissist in all its forms; so what we have had to experience for the last 2 years will not only impact Hillary voters but his constituents who continue to vote against their better interests, and as we witness all the rollbacks of the Obama legacy, his administrations reach will be long and global in ways that will take years to clean up or correct.  In 2017, the news covered his comments at the UN Assembly, tariffs, his SCOTUS nomination, and as we watched the stock market take a dive, the media dodged, danced, and seemingly ignored it, until they couldn’t.

It was impossible to ignore and be reminded of the House of Bush #financialcollapse of 2007. We have heard trump disparage people of colour, women, lgbt, trans on the regular, and is now moving to legislate, what looks like hate. The trump government stated it was planning on making low-income folks in the US eat from dry goods boxes while taking money from countries that need help to cope with drought, disease, and health care issues that impact children and women, etc.

Do folks on the right even know that $15billion, that’s a billion cuts in spending, includes $7 billion of social services for children?

Speaking of Children, I believe in choice, so the effing idea that women should be punished for making decisions about their own bodies is crazy in itself, but the trump admin has made it impossible for Americans to help women globally with the Reagan gag rule… Women in America are and or have been arrested for miscarriages, and btw these decisions don’t seem to make legal or religious sense when challenged by our rights to privacy under the constitution

Do they know the number of unsafe abortions may certainly increase along with other reproductive issues women have and will most definitely continue, in all probability, end up in a rise in the rate of mortality among women globally?

This man is a failing protectionist, acting like an isolationist while standing with white nationalists, seemingly standing side by side. History speaks to us rejecting this behavior, so you have to wonder, will trump be the thing, that vehicle for women on both sides of the political aisle, and race as a common denominator to vote out asap?! The poll numbers suggest married women voted for trump, but are seeing that this man should not be in power, as his policies make an impact on them and others they know. There are enormous numbers of women marching not just in America but globally.  While trump is only talking to his constituents, this carpetbagger can’t help but make all his speeches about himself. He has stomped on our constitution already, broken what most used to say are American values while republicans wring their hands in joy, their corrupt behavior will show itself as some of our economist suggest could be another ride into another ditch with all the costs created by actions like moving the Israel embassy, repealing ACA just to name two lest we talk about block granting education ending Medicaid and increasing qualifiers reinstating others that restrict health care … this man is NOT the savior but an emperor wannabe though he seems to act as if he was voted in as a king … hopefully, his voters will see the light in time.

People of colour feel that their rights and bodies will now be targets and a literal threat while living as Americans, depending upon which city is most likely to take his comments literally. If or will their social norms make them choose to act above the rule of law, lest we talk about how folks interpret trump’s rhetoric and unfortunately will be spread as often as he goes to a mic or holds rallies for the people to see him and how far his communication staff is willing to go and say whatever it takes to keep his followers.

Is it possible, is it apparent that this era of trump needed to happen to America …  As equality, freedom, and the pursuit of happiness seemed to be sliding away …  Hopefully not gone, just a wicked storm before the reboot to a better America …right?

On January 26, 2017, when trump whipped his pen of revenge out and seemingly took America back to the dark ages in just a couple of minutes, then moved on to other acts of hypocrisy on the regular, various people saw the issue. Yet, those same people who voted for him are now the targets.

Our country is NOT moving toward a more perfect union, but I believe that we must gain insight, become mindful, analyze all that must get done before any elections; we need to be 2–4 steps ahead of the trump administration.  In 2018, I completely disagreed with a couple of pro-trump bloggers, but one was kind enough to accept opposition comments. I also admitted I understand their point, said as much when we elected Obama and watched as the opposition party in congress pledged to do nothing … So, as bill after bill had some kind of stipulation or nasty pill /rider attached to it; no one addressed stagnant wages, 21st-century living, climate, renewables or jobs and while babies were/still are being killed by guns; infrastructure among other things were all put on hold unless and until republicans could get the trifecta to make change their way.

Thing is, they have done nothing to improve the status of American lives or social programs like social security, Medicare, and Medicaid, which, btw we all pay into, are at risk in the hands of this government. “Affordable healthcare”  for regular folk is at risk … FACT!  And how ironic is it that Congress enjoys good health care paid for by US taxpayers … yet, women seem to be wearing scarlet letters or the phrase of #preexistingcondition

Today, in the year 2025, it is all at risk of being realigned with dictatorship behavior and demands of what looks like Ethnic Cleansing here in the US of A. I could be wrong, but the new Republicans called MAGA are selling out their constituents for more money and power. I don’t know what to call this new normal by name or description, but American lives will suffer

It feels like he is talking in code… Has anyone in the US thought we would have to deal with a lack of our rights to freedom of speech and or censorship on this level? The government of trump seems to want absolute power over the people, the press, control women, tell scientists that any and all information about climate has to pass a White House review panel before the public sees it, or that a joint government/nonprofit summit can be and have been canceled by a President? This is offensive and should be considered inappropriate autocratic behavior, imo.  The notion of being told to have babies, let alone comply or be punished, is insane. Why is expressing an opinion inappropriate?  We have already seen the media be told to shut their mouths, other countries jail their dissident, and I’m guessing torture works, though it’s against the Geneva Convention.  The idea that he felt comfy saying we should have taken the Iraqi oil or that nukes should be available to all while sidestepping the 1st Amendment is more than concerning… maybe other amendments are at risk as team trump hearkens back to a time when men(white mean) who governed considered themselves to be the only legitimate Americans and suffice it say there weren’t many amendments back then to protect what we now call folks in “protected classes”

So, I am resisting. I am not naive, but I am counting on enough folks who usually sit on the sidelines will finally see through the bull before it’s time to use our most powerful weapon against Dictatorship …

Our Legal Right to Vote

Thanks for letting me exercise my 1st amendment rights

Women and our Rights : past present future …challenged everyday

oh yeah, it’s a rant … tweaked many many times

keepabortionlegal

So,  here we are in the 21st Century, Women have a constitutional right to have an abortion yet secret bills are being passed as if they(republicans) know what is best for all Women, just think about that and ask yourself … why is a healthcare panel made up of men considering women’s health who keep making strange comments about our lady parts while throwing ALL Women into one basket then under a bus?

Remember when trump said,  women should have some sort of punishment for exercising their rights while conservative lawmakers, governors, and mayors continue to puke on the Constitution by passing lawless bills that restrict the right to have an abortion. The idea the reducing the number of clinics will change the mind of any Woman wanting an abortion is going to make them stop… What does this say about those politicians who need some sericous vetting, maybe censuredand or removed as they continue to put constituents at risk.

The fact is Women lead very different lives, make individual decisions every minute of the day ~just like men … an abortion, like any other procedure is just one of several health care issues Women may have to encounter.  The best solutions: Birth Control in all its forms as well as a safe affordable legal constitutional right to an abortion. I find it beyond offensive to hear Republicans infer that abortion is chosen carelessly and for those who seem to think birth control in all its forms is a federal or states right issue actually use it as a Republican political football.  The fact is, Republicans with Women in their lives forget that their position pushes up against 98% of those who use birth control and they need to stop forcing their “family values” on women, focus on Jobs, Immigration, ending any idea of income inequality and Climate Change among just a few issues at the moment. Honestly, it doesn’t look possible for republicans to come to their senses, so vote for the Democratic Party that supports upward mobility as well as the middle-lower classes and the poor = equality for all…

Call on your favourite republicans and ask why they assume Women are ill-equipped, silly, naïve, and or would put up with abortion bans without a fight? least we talk about how hard a decision like an abortion is: It is NOT easy or done willy nilly! and while they seem to forget it conveniently …women DID use coat hangers, went to folks who were NOT in the medical field but took their money,  performed abortions, and some women, this ended up being a fatal decision.

Hey, whatever happened to ” liberty” under the Bill of Rights and “freedom” under Civil Liberties? Seriously, does this only apply to certain men?

While we were deep in the era of trump, never forget that on Sunday, January 22, 2012, President Obama released a statement letting Women know that he was reaffirming his promise to protect a woman’s right to choose.    Announcing that  “After evaluating comments, we have decided to add an additional element to the final rule  Nonprofit employers who, based on religious beliefs, do not currently provide contraceptive coverage in their insurance plan, will be provided an additional year, until August 1, 2013, to comply with the new law. Employers wishing to take advantage of the additional year must certify that they qualify for the delayed implementation. This additional year will allow these organizations more time and flexibility to adapt to this new rule. We intend to require employers that do not offer coverage of contraceptive services to provide notice to employees, which will also state that contraceptive services are available at sites such as community health centers, public clinics, and hospitals with income-based support. We will continue to work closely with religious groups during this transitional period to discuss their concerns.”

There were changes to the announcement above as well as big changes to health care for women … It was a time for hope and audacity because of the new health care law women looked forward to less discrimination.  We know some in the insurance field, doctors and or hospitals will try to beat the system, but the law is there to refer to now and covers All Americans not just some. It is hard for me to believe pro-lifers do not understand that every part of a woman’s health is subject to being penalized and that includes our reproductive health care, which includes a wide range of health care issues.  Isn’t bad enough that lawmakers actually would subject women to demeaning practices like a transvaginal scope; make them wait for 72hrs, but to make doctors liable and or do jail time too.  I have to say that among other ridiculous laws that need a vote in Congress, such as The Hyde Amendment.  Please ask yourself and your member of Congress…  why does it require a vote . It is time to Codify the right to choose.

…   the Hyde Amendment is a legislative provision barring the use of certain federal funds to pay for abortions with exceptions for incest and rape.[1] It is not a permanent law, rather it is a “rider” that, in various forms, has been routinely attached to annual appropriations bills since 1976. The Hyde Amendment applies only to funds allocated by the annual appropriations bill for the Department of Health and Human Services. It primarily affects Medicaid.     wiki

I also admit that it pisses me off that the latest group of people in congress are still getting away with saying one thing in front of a camera yet voting another way on the floor of congress, which includes spewing and or forcing their “family values” platform/ideology on what I thought were free Americans. What year is it again?  If the Republican Tea Party now the Nationalist party truly wants smaller government, they should stop trying to control women, their bodies and or change laws for the sake of that “family values” platform or whatever the claim it is now, and whatever it is now, it is definitely the epitome of big government and an invasion of privacy.

The right seems to be aligning their demands for stricter abortion laws one state at a time. I cannot be the only one tired of the “Do as we say Not as we do Political Party of NO. It has my blood boiling. Now, Tea publicans running for President and some media folks are saying it is time to move on from nasty politics. I say if you want to become President of the US of A give Americans full disclosure. Women need to know if you support unnecessary procedures like a transvaginal scope  … Yet; the same people accuse President Obama of withholding information from the public or being un-American get offended when asked to provide personal information.  We are their constituents; we all deserve to know how these people will vote on issues of religion, race, gender, and or abortion. The beliefs of members of Congress dictate to how the vote will affect our constitutional rights. If you were listening, for three years conservative politicians, some conservadems ramping up of vitriolic “family values” rhetoric pushing the discussion of women’s rights, religion, race, and gender preference up to the surface to rile their base. It is obvious now that Republican Governors had a plan to take the rhetoric a step further by passing anti-abortion legislation all over the country in fact as stated by NWLC – “Ninety-two. That’s the number of anti-abortion measures passed into law across the U.S. in 2011. In addition, in case you are wondering, yes, that is a record — in fact; it is over 2.5 times the previous record. “

Bad enough that Women must continue to fight for our rights for equal pay, daycare, medical leave let alone for safe affordable access to reproductive health care.

Now, as we move toward the end of the trifecta that is trump and both chambers of Congress, controlled by Republicans who decided to vote on a right to reproductive rights on the anniversary of Roe V Wade in 2015.  This move by men in Congress was and is always incredible since there are more female members of Congress now and yes, a lot of right of center members who say they are fiscally conservative, want less government in their (our) lives.

Yet, topics like abortion, stem cell research/experiments and religious freedom get them flustered, put their undies in a bunch about abortion funding and seem to prefer that abortion be outlawed altogether if possible. I could not vote for a woman who feels I am not qualified, and or mature enough or have a “right to choose” no matter what side of the political aisle they sit. The fact is, women who choose to have an abortion, do so with great trepidation not because they are heartless but based on options given by qualified medical teams or if the fetus is not viable or at risk or both mom and fetus are at risk. FYI! the decision is discussed with a counselor and a doctor before any procedure happens. The choice to have an abortion is not an easy one and offering a safe place, an affordable procedure is better than having a woman or women desperate enough to take actions that could put their lives at risk like they did prior to roeVwade should always be on the minds of any member of congress…  it is the right thing to do. The idea that any member of Congress would want to control a woman’s body is ludicrous at best and again, the epitome of BIG Government; they should make something like the Hyde only better a law. The conservative ideology, clearly barbaric; spews old school dogma and not only crosses the line on numerous occasions, but it has also solidified a need, a call for an unprecedented effort for a grassroots movement to keep our Democracy safe

If you live under a Republican-controlled State and need or know someone in need of safe affordable healthcare with limited funds, your life has got to be beyond difficult.    Now, imagine the impact that repealing, replacing, and eliminating access would have on ALL our families, friend’s or co-workers. Let alone the idea that some Republicans want to go back to a time when women and people of colour had no rights; seen but not heard and yes it sounds silly but before you laugh, take some time and listen to congressional members led by republicans and those running for office closely.

Just when I thought we were all moving into the 21st century … sigh

Michelle Obama … Mrs O. Style

WASHINGTON (AP) – Michelle Obama says being criticized is part of the president’s job, and she understands why her husband has been on the receiving end.
