mashup Monday &some News …

As the lame duck session begins today the things that stand out most for me is the hypocrisy the overt nonsense and the lies offered up by the Republican Tea Party for the last twenty months. Unfortunately, the lies continue even after the Midterm elections with the sole goal to ruin President Obama by using Americans as their pawns and throwing us all under the bus.

The Party of No will keep stalling, blocking and saying No to the START treaty, the Disclose Act, unemployment, the Dream Act, Food Safety and other legislation but want and have been threatening progress unless and until the Republican Tea Party is given the Bush giveaways for the rich. The lies that the Republicans were able to sell and get some left of center to buy is about to unravel and the truth finally know by hopefully all Americans.

The notion that the top 2% is the group that creates and or hires the middle class let alone the idea that should be the reason to make sure the Bush giveaways are permanent is just a joke. If this is true, we should all ask where are the jobs that should have saved us all before the first 750 thousand suddenly lost their jobs even before President Obama was really in office. I do not understand how anyone believes that lie.

TGIF …&some News

The weather is bad but it’s autumn right…so the goal today is to get through the day, cozy up with a hottie or a hot beverage such as cocoa or whatever is your preferred drink, sit back watch tv, movies use wii when you get a chance.

President Obama is on the road getting the Peoples business done.

I am without a doubt tired of the BS coming from the right of center politicians, “the White media” and those folks in the military who seem to want us to stay longer in a War waged by the last guy and is being used against our President on a daily basis.  The other News of military action is coming from the new Republican Congress stating we need to go to war with the cartel on the borders currently affected which seems like another open ended war. It just seems like the focus should be on the unemployed, jobs and our economy but hey that’s just my opinion. I will continue to call Boehner, McConnell, Cantor as well as Kyl to stop stalling the START treaty with the sole promise to ruin our President is offensive and un-American. Those folks that voted for the RTP which will put them in charge of the 112th House should be ashamed of themselves because nothing good is coming if anything for the next 2yrs.

I am biased but it just seems like no matter what President Obama does it just is not good enough and it would be great if people would remember where we were before he was sworn into office and what happened weeks after he took office -this chaos was not his but knowing it was there he still said yes i will try to get America back on track. People need to be reminded we got hit with a recession like no other since the great depression and while the Democratic Party has been trying to do the right thing unlike Republicans in Congress have decided that a Black man in the office of President is not acceptable among other things this notion is beyond offensive. It use to be funny but the midterm elections were very upsetting to think folks stayed home or decided to vote for Republicans which will become clearer as the weeks and months go by that they voted against his or her best interest and for a lack of a better comment crazy. I ask myself what are people afraid of almost on a daily basis then I turn on cable and hear the sky is falling rhetoric that they push on viewers who unfortunately are buying into the noise. Though we all might feel we need to get Wall Street out of the White House and it is understandable but given what happened in our  journey into what could have been a depression, who better to actually get us out of the ditch sooner rather than later. If you watch and listen the fix was and still is complicated and probably continues to be in flux. Progress is not something to be afraid of and while folks have bought into the BS coming from the various right of center cable stations owned by the big Corporate entities giving money to Republicans we have this incredible chance to move our entire broken down system into the 21st Century make sure all our people have health care, equal rights, FairPay and lives worth living. The ugly fact is …given what we have all heard or seen on radio or cable the Republican Tea Party is only interested in getting those Bush tax cuts permanently without having paid for them when the house of Bush signed off of them in 2001/2003 though that part of it just does not get airtime -they were like the 2wars he waged were put into action without paying yet Republicans  have decided to enforce paygo which should be used for the upper 2% Bush giveaways, even one of the architects of the two Bush tax cuts stated that those tax cuts were not good and though folks making millions and or billions want to believe otherwise there is an expiration date that should be kept. Americans have experienced a very contentious 20 + months watching the moves by the democrats to get us back on track while Republican continue to stall, block and say No whenever possible with what seems like ridiculous reasons and the agenda which was laid out long ago by —– with his comments about finding President Obama’s waterloo —at any cost.  The cost apparently is the FairPay Act for women, DADT, the Dream Act as well as the START treaty and now after the midterm elections put more Republicans not only on the floor of Congress but there are quite a few Republican Governors the problem some of us left of center feel that people are misreading the elections in fact this was a midterm usually treated unfortunately as the no bid deal election and yes the gotv was good yet the numbers of African Americans were low, unfortunately women, lgbt decided to vote for Republicans and reports are that Latinos actually saved quite a few of our Democratic candidates. It goes without saying hopefully that the White House and leaders in Congress will acknowledge and act for their base now to pass legislation that will change our lives for the better. I have yet to accept this President leaned too far left when the whole idea is to do things that will help not just America but Americans, it also lends itself to what will happen in the future for the 2012 elections. I say move left and get things done because there is nothing to lose but much to gain if those moves make an incredible positive impact on the lives of Americans.

trippi Tuesday …& some News

The President will be giving out the Medal of Honor today, which is such a proud moment to be an American in a time when we use to have two wars now only one as well as the first person of colour as our President giving you chills. It is a very special day to be alive and see all the wonder things President Obama has been able to accomplish with or without the help of, I guess Americans who call themselves Republicans. The weather here sucked last night and early this morning though it has calmed down finally it is just the beginning of autumn, which will move into winter sometime soon.

I posted a letter to Americans from Leader Harry Reid and apparently, it upset someone so much that they responded. While I am glad to get responses to the various articles posted, this one seems a bit dramatic. It is obvious the person is very right of center and it confirms how personal feelings create gridlock. Unfortunately, this same attitude will continue to happen on the floor of Congress as personal feelings get in the way of doing the peoples business. As Republican members of Congress show lack of compromise so do their constituents and while that may be normal up to a point in our own private lives, this behavior cannot continue on for too long as we all know the quicker folks work together the sooner Americans will be able to move into the 21st Century. Anyway, below is the response to the open letter to Americans from Harry Reid.

A desperate lie by a desperate piece of filth. It’s laughable in the extreme. The truth is that Americans did not vote the Liberal filth out of office for the sake of working with their remnants.

They and their supporters, the domestic enemies of America, can sit down and shut up or things will go harshly for them sooner than it might otherwise.

Pop Quiz

Pop quiz: Which of the following will make up a majority of the deficit in the next decade?

A) Social Security
B) Medicare
C) The National Park Service
D) PBS
E) George Bush’s tax cuts

Give up? The answer is E — George Bush’s tax cuts.

But this week the co-chairs of the so-called “Deficit Commission” came out with their recommendations on how to fix the deficit. Do you know what their answer was? They said they wanted to cut A, B, C and D.

That’s right — the co-chairs of the Deficit Commission said that they wanted to cut Social Security, Medicare, the National Park Service, PBS and a whole lot more. But they’re OK with leaving George Bush’s tax cuts in place even though those tax cuts are projected to make up over half of the deficit over the next 10 years.

These guys are dead wrong and it’s time Congress knew just how wrong they are — sign the pledge calling on Congress to reject the Deficit Commission’s right-wing attack on Social Security.

Add your name now

Not only are they dead wrong on how to fix the deficit, but they’re probably the only two people in the country who think it’s a good idea to cut Social Security.

On Election Day, Democracy for America polled voters nationwide on some key issues, and when asked about Social Security only four percent said they supported making cuts to Social Security.

The vast majority of Americans — 85 percent — said they don’t want any cuts to Social Security. But they don’t get a vote in the Deficit Commission, so let’s make sure Congress hears what they have to say — sign our pledge today.

Tell Congress to reject the Deficit Commission’s right-wing attack on Social Security.

DFA members told us to stand strong for Social Security. And that’s exactly what we’re doing.

Thank you for working to move America forward.

Out in the cold

More than 2 million workers and their families are in danger of losing their unemployment benefits just before the holidays.unemployment

Tell Congress to renew unemployment insurance now:

For millions of Americans and their families, a storm is brewing. Unless Congress acts by November 30th, two million unemployed Americans who are struggling to find work will be cut off from vital unemployment payments just before the holiday season.1

It would be a disaster — not only for people who are out of a job and whose only lifeline is these small unemployment payments, but for the entire economy.2

It’s going to be a tough fight to make sure Congress extends these benefits — Republicans and conservative Democrats have stood in the way of extending unemployment insurance in the past, and they’re likely to do it again. They say we can’t afford to pay for it, but many of the same politicians are willing to add trillions to the deficit to extend President Bush’s massive tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.

Please join us in demanding that Congress extend unemployment benefits, and ask your friends and family to do the same:

http://www.colorofchange.org/preserve/?id=2275-1238940

The economic downturn has hurt everyone, but it’s hit Black communities particularly hard — unemployment among Black folks is at 16%, twice the national average. For young Black men, it’s above 40%.3

Economists say that unemployment benefits are one of the most effective ways to boost the economy, and the U.S. Census Bureau data reports that 3.3 million more people would have fallen below the poverty line in 2009 without unemployment benefits.4,5

There are some signs that the economy is starting to recover — the number of new people applying for unemployment benefits has recently fallen. But if Congress fails to extend unemployment for 2 million people who are currently out of work, it would deal a serious blow to that progress. Those two million jobless Americans won’t have money to spend on their basic needs, and all kinds of businesses will suffer as a result — and be even less likely to start hiring.

Congress reconvenes on November 15 — and will only have a short time to continue the federal unemployment benefits program before the November 30 deadline. This past May, because of what conservative Democrats and Republicans to block extending unemployment benefits, Congress missed the deadline and allowed the program to lapse for seven weeks — stopping benefits to more than 2.5 million long-term unemployed job-seekers and their families. The unemployed cannot afford another lapse in benefits, and neither can our economy.

It’s hard to believe, but some politicians are saying we can’t afford to pay for these benefits, while at the same time trying to extend President Bush’s tax cuts for the wealthy. It’s a position that prioritizes luxury for the wealthy over survival for the most vulnerable people in our country — and it makes no sense for our economy.

Congress hears from wealthy people with access and power every day. So it’s essential for all members of Congress to hear from ordinary Americans who are struggling to make ends meet or know someone who is.

Please join us in demanding that Congress extend unemployment benefits by clicking the link below. We’re working with the National Employment Law Project to deliver your message to Congress this week. And we’ll keep our eye on politicians who are standing in the way of doing what’s right for our economy, and we’ll give you ways to hold them accountable.
