Will the real Mitt Romney please stand up? In honor of Super Tuesday, you can now play Mitt ‘N Match and watch Mitt change his positions on equality issues more often than he changes clothes! He used to support open military service. Now he doesn’t. He used to support fairness in the workplace. Now he doesn’t. He used to support domestic partnerships. Now he doesn’t. Mitt ‘N Match is the gift that keeps on giving… the truth about this presidential candidate’s LGBT politics. With no core convictions or guiding principles to get in the way, there’s nothing stopping you from giving Mitt a brand new look – with new policy stances to match. Mitt can become whatever you and his big money, right-wing donors want him to be. Take Mitt’s pledge to fight for a constitutional ban on marriage equality – there’s an outfit for that. What about Mitt’s support for the hate-driven Defense of Marriage Act or his opposition to ending workplace discrimination? Just dress him up! Mitt Romney is a complex guy with too many positions to count. But no matter what anti-LGBT rhetoric he’s spouting, just remember… always dress to impress! Enjoy, The HRC Team |
This morning, Republicans held a hearing on women’s health care. Here’s the panel they brought in to discuss birth control:
And then Foster Friess, Rick Santorum’s money man, went on MSNBC this afternoon and gave some unsolicited advice on contraception to “the gals.”
Check out his shocking comments:
Foster Friess: I get such a chuckle when these things come out. Here we have millions of our fellow Americans unemployed, we have jihadist camps being set up in Latin America, which rick has been warning about, and people seem to be so preoccupied with sex. I think that says something about our culture. We maybe need a massive therapy session so we can concentrate on what the real issues are. And this contraceptive thing, my gosh, it’s such inexpensive. Back in my days, they used Bayer aspirin for contraceptives. The gals put it between their knees and it wasn’t that costly.”
IN ONE SENTENCE: Republicans may find blocking affordable access to birth control funny, but the GOP’s all-out war on women’s health care is no laughing matter.
The conservative echo chamber rejects facts, and instead claims the positive economic data is a conspiracy to help Obama
Occupy Wall Street’s new strategy: a Super PAC?
UltraViolet on the right-wing war on women’s health care: this is a joke, right?
Rep. Allen West: Democrats practice “the most insidious form of slavery in the world today.”
A hate group leader says women are not fit to serve in combat.
Rick Santorum says the Second Amendment exists to protect the First Amendment.
Chris Brown, Charlie Brown, and Hollywood’s inability to draw a line on violence against women.
Jon Huntsman calls Mitt Romney’s China policy “wrongheaded.”
Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) dissembles about his support for a bill that puts your boss in between you and your doctor — and in your bedroom.
“Where are the women?” With those four words, Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) made the most poignant statement of the week about the House GOP’s attitude towards women. The simple answer to Maloney’s question is that women are being callously left out and left behind by the right wing.
According to a recent Democracy Corps survey, there’s been a net 18-point swing away from Mitt Romney in favor President Obama among unmarried women in the past few months. Why? Because women have been watching and listening to conservatives. Here’s a sampling of what we heard just this past week:
GOP Chairman Darrell Issa defending the exclusion of a woman from his all-male panel on contraception: She’s not “appropriate and qualified.” [Read more]
Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld explaining why “liberals” support contraception coverage: “It’s more about getting rid of the poor.” [Read more]
Right-wing billionaire Foster Friess delivering his contraception advice on MSNBC: “You know, back in my days, they used Bayer Aspirin for contraceptives. The gals put it between their knees and it wasn’t that costly.” [Read more]
Virginia Republican Delegate Todd Gilbert rationalizing a state-sponsored bill mandating vaginal probes: A woman already consented to being “vaginally penetrated when they got pregnant.” [Read more]
Fox News’ Liz Trotta justifies why some women are assaulted in the military: “Now what did they expect?” [Read more]
Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association on women in combat: “Women are not wired, either by evolution or by God…to be in those positions.” [Read more]
Rick Santorum explaining his concerns about women in combat: “People naturally may do things that may not be in the interests of the mission because of other types of emotions that are involved.” [Read more]
At least they’re being honest about what they feel.

| By putting in place the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards, President Obama made a substantial leap forward for our nation’s health and environment. Not every leader would have done this for our country, since Big Coallobbyists and corporate special interests make great efforts keep us dependent on their hazardous products and services.Give President Obama a huge THANK YOU for putting our people first and standing strong against mercury pollution.» The other current presidential candidates, for example, want to take away our environmental protection and set back the progress we’ve made.Newt Gingrich wants to “maximize oil, gas, and clean coal production.” Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum have already received hundreds of thousands of dollars from Big Coal companies which visibly alters their stance on energy. And Ron Paul has stated that he would eliminate the EPA altogether.
It takes a strong leader to make such a bold environmental decision. Take a moment to let President Obama know that we appreciate his actions in standing up to Big Coal for our future.»
