Stop the big oil giveaway fueling our enemies.


Since General Clark‘s email, over 16,000 people have signed our letter to the Environmental Protection Agency calling on them to protect the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).

The RFS is an important tool in reducing our dependence on foreign oil, and it’s critical that you add your name before we submit the signatures in January. You can do that here:

Right now, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is considering gutting one of the most important policies put in place to limit the amount of fossil fuels we burn and lower our dependence on foreign oil.

It’s called the Renewable Fuel Standard and it ensures a minimum number of renewable fuels are used for transportation in the United States.

As veterans, military family members, and VoteVets supporters, we have a unique understanding about the cost of our dependence on foreign oil. It’s not just measured in the price at the pump, or a changing climate, but also in the lives lost and changed through deployments to protect the flow of oil in the Middle East.

VoteVets is participating in the Environmental Protection Agency’s public comment period on this issue. It ends in a few weeks, and we’d love it if you added your name to ours before we submit. You can do that here:

This is an important issue and a very real chance for you to make a difference. The EPA traditionally takes these comments very seriously, but our voices are at risk of being drowned out by big oil interests running astroturf campaigns.

Now he’s running in a toss-up race for a first term in Congress, and VoteVets is proud to stand with him.

This race is our best chance to elect a progressive veteran to Congress in 2014 while simultaneously restoring some integrity and trust in our nation’s capital.

Last week, John Boehner said that Republicans were locked in an “epic battle” to keep the government shutdown going.

As a World War II veteran, I fought in six epic battles. I helped fight the Nazis in the North African seas, and took part in operations that liberated Italy and the South of France, from Germany.

The Tea Party Shutdown is not an epic battle — it is bad governance.

Americans and veterans like me depend on our entire government being open.

I filmed a television ad with VoteVets, and it’s on the air starting today. I hope you’ll watch it and contribute to help keep it up.

After receiving General Wesley Clark‘s email last week, I responded with my personal story about how the shutdown impacts my life, while expressing my disgust with the Republican Party’s politicization of the World War II Memorial shortly after the shutdown began.

I served this nation with honor. Today, I can’t say the same thing about most Republicans in Congress.

Garett Reppenhagen, VoteVets.org … the NRA

As an Iraq War veteran and Colorado resident, I was happy to see over 90% of VoteVets supporters choose to fight back against the NRA-backed recalls and stand up for State Senator John Morse in Colorado.

So that’s what we’re going to do.

Election Day is in three weeks, and we’re on the air in a big way in Colorado defending John Morse, who has been a champion for veterans throughout his time in office.

These recall elections are a chance to show legislators across the country that we’ll stand with those who take action to reduce gun violence.
