They murdered my son

Protect Wisconsin Families and Honest Police: Support Fair Investigations

                                                Madison, WisconsinI will never forget the day I lost my son at the hands of 4 police officers who betrayed the honor and trust of the badge they wore. Our family’s tragedy was only made worse when the officers were cleared of all wrongdoing, after being investigated by their peers instead of an independent panel. The sworn testimony of each officer directly opposed irrefutable forensic evidence provided by the medical examiner. Still, no fault. As we struggled to understand this miscarriage of justice we discovered we were not alone, many families were denied an independent investigation when their loved ones were taken. We decided that together we could make their deaths mean something.

Families who have lost loved ones at the hands of officers are coming together across the nation to demand unbiased investigations.  Nationwide, officer involved deaths are routinely investigated by their coworkers resulting in an impossible record of perfection. In Wisconsin alone, an “unjustified” ruling by an officer’s department or commission cannot be found in 125 years.

The people of Wisconsin have before them a Bill to bring independent review to all officer-involved fatalities in addition to drug testing of all officers involved.

Please help Wisconsin set a much-needed precedent for all states across the nation with AB 409, the Citizens and Law Enforcement Safety Act.

Police depend on community trust in order to succeed at their jobs. Yet an antiquated system allows bad cops to avoid accountability and tarnish the image of all law officers.  AB 409 is designed to build and strengthen community trust via transparent review by experienced and independent professionals. If we come together and make AB 409 law, the public will have rock-solid confidence that their police force is being held to uniform and consistent standards and law enforcement will be protected from speculation and suspicion.

Make sure Paul Ryan keeps his word on immigration reform ~~ OFA

Everyone needs to remember this:This summer, Paul Ryan told constituents at a town hall that the House would vote on comprehensive immigration reform in the fall.
He showed he’s ready to take the lead — now, it’s up to us to make sure he sticks with it. We went to Wisconsin and talked to a few people who witnessed that town hall firsthand.
Watch the video we put together, and then share it on Twitter or Facebook to show Paul Ryan that OFA supporters are going to hold him to his word.Whatever you do, share this video in a way that Rep. Ryan and his staff
won’t be able to miss. They need to know that the Americans who want to
see comprehensive immigration reform passed into law are counting on him
to follow through on his promise.

Here’s why this is so important: The House has the votes right now to
fix our broken immigration system. Just last week, three more House
members came forward to support comprehensive reform.

There’s a reason it has such broad, bipartisan support — this is
something our country needs. Reform would create more than 3 million
jobs, reduce the deficit by more than $800 billion, and strengthen our
middle class.

Now, we need House leaders to step up and hold a vote. That’s why we
want to make sure no one forgets Paul Ryan’s commitment to doing just

The recent expansion of the Reser’s Fine Foods product recall for potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination has impacted select prepared foods offerings sold at Giant Eagle, Inc. locations in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland and West Virginia. As a result, Giant Eagle has implemented a voluntary recall of Diced Summer Slaw, Diced Summer Salad and several Grab and Go combo meals that may include Diced Summer Slaw.

 

 

The Perrigo Company announced that it has initiated a voluntary, nationwide product recall to the retail level of 18 batches of its acetaminophen infant suspension liquid, 160 mg/5 mL, sold in 2 oz. and 4 oz. bottles with syringes in a box under store brand products including Babies R Us, Care One and more  (refer to the Firm Press Release for full list of affected brand names and products).

World Class Distribution of Fontana, California is voluntarily recalling one specific lot of Trader Joes Southwest Salad (SKU 56077) with a Use by Date11/2/13, because it may not list soy in the ingredients. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Listeria is an organism which can cause serious and sometime fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and individuals with weakened immune systems

Orange County Produce, LLC (“OC Produce”) is voluntarily working with the Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) and California Department of Public Health (“CDPH”) to coordinate a recall of fresh red and green Bell Peppers for potential contamination with Salmonella. The FDA has advised that a random sample of OC Produce Bell peppers has tested positive for Salmonella.

Wisconsin’s radical right-wing Governor  Scott Walker will be hosting a fundraiser for a local far-right organization at  the Seattle Sheraton this Thursday!

Local progressives are joining together for  a counter rally to make sure Gov. Walker gets the message that his regressive  and extreme agenda is not one that’s welcome in Washington.

Join with union members, environmental and  community activists, local businesses and others who plan to send a message to  Scott Walker and his right-wing supporters that his divisive anti-labor,  job-killing, environment-damaging policies aren’t welcome in Washington state.  The event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5 outside the Seattle  Sheraton Hotel, 1400 6th Ave. Download the event flier, spread the word and make plans to  attend, and bring your signs and banners!
