Small business and ACA

Hangout with the SBA and Cover Oregon to find out

The third in a series of three Google+ Hangouts brought to you by the SBA and Cover Oregon will discuss what small businesses need to know about Oregon’s Health Care Marketplace, Cover Oregon, and how they will access coverage through the web portal. Cover Oregon will address specific small business needs including:

  • How to request real-time carrier quotes including available plans and rates
  • The process to search for and select a medical plan and dental plan for employees
  • How to set up the open enrollment period for employees
  • The process for e-signature and carrier submission

Have additional questions about how the health care law will impact your business in Oregon? Watch the earlier Hangouts that covered specific topics of the Affordable Care Act like the Marketplace and the Small Business Tax Credit.

The first Hangout described the new Health Care Marketplace in Oregon, Cover Oregon. Through Cover Oregon, employers and individuals will be able to shop for health insurance plans and access financial assistance to help pay for coverage. The second Hangout covered the small business tax credit available under ACA and the eligibility requirements to qualify for it.

Join us September 17, 2013, 12:00 – 12:30 p.m. and learn how Cover Oregon can help you.

Registration is not required for these Hangouts.  Simply click on SBA’s YouTube channel www.youtube.com/sba or Google+ Page www.google.com/+sbagov and tweet your questions using the hashtag #CoverOregon.

Banks taken to court!

Yesterday, the NY Attorney General announced plans to file a lawsuit against HSBC for ignoring the law and hurting families in foreclosure. Big banks like HSBC think the rules don’t apply to them — not acceptable!

Over 40,000 people have already joined Elizabeth Warren in saying that we need to protect the public and break up the big banks.

Can you add your voice in support of the Brown-Vitter bill to break up the big banks? Click here to sign the petition.

Thanks! — Adam Green

Stand with Elizabeth Warren

Elizabeth Warren did it again.

In another moment sure to go viral on YouTube, she grilled Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on the Obama administration’s opposition to breaking up the big Wall Street banks that are “too big to fail.”

Warren endorsed breaking up the big banks and preventing future bailouts. Senators Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and David Vitter (R-Louisiana) have introduced a new bipartisan bill to do just that.

Watch Elizabeth Warren in action — and join her in urging President Obama and Congress to end “too big to fail.” Sign our petition supporting the Brown-Vitter bill.

Warren pointed out that the largest financial institutions are getting bigger and bigger — 30% larger than they were when they wrecked our economy.

She asked Treasure Secretary Lew, “How big do the biggest banks have to get before we consider breaking them up?” He had no answer.

The media and political insiders need to see the public quickly rallying around Warren in order for her grilling yesterday to make a lasting impact.

Watch Warren in action and sign our petition in support of breaking up the big banks.

Thanks for being a bold progressive.

This is it. On Monday, the legislature reconvened for a special session. My priority is to ensure it passes a budget that reflects our values.

The budget touches everything that happens in Washington State — schools for our kids, health care for our seniors, and infrastructure for our businesses. Passing a budget that reflects my priorities — our priorities — by putting our obligation to students ahead of tax breaks is one of my most important goals as governor.

I’m honored that thousands of Washingtonians have already stood with me to endorse my Working Washington budget priorities and send the message that Washingtonians are insisting on a responsible budget that supports our kids and moves our state forward. But we haven’t heard from you yet.

Will you click here to endorse my Working Washington budget priorities now — as the legislature takes up the budget for debate?

I will continue to be engaged in productive discussions with legislators as we work to find consensus on a budget that reflects our values.

All of our work has been building to this. We need to pass a responsible, sustainable budget that rebuilds our economy, protects our critical services, and meets our responsibility to our children.

We can’t let up now.

Thank you for all of your tremendous support.

Very truly yours,

Jay Inslee Governor
