I’ll tell you one thing that worries me about this election: There’s a small group of billionaires and corporate special interests that are trying to buy their way back into power. They’re spending their fortunes to defeat our folks and elect some of the most right-wing Republicans this country has ever seen.
We’ve launched the By the People Fund to fight back, with the goal of reaching 3 million grassroots donations to power the most ambitious on-the-ground effort ever waged in an election like this.
Here’s the deal: We’re only 22,981 donations away from shattering that goal right now. We could reach it this month, with one big push this week.
It’s going to take 198 grassroots donations in Seattle to get there.
Will you chip in $5 to the By the People Fund today — and help us take back our elections?
I spent 36 years in the Senate, serving alongside Republicans of all stripes. But some of the Republicans running now are not from your grandfather’s Republican Party. They’re from the Republican Tea Party:
— Sharron Angle, who wants to be the next senator from Nevada, has called for phasing out Social Security and Medicare — and even wants to end maternity coverage.
— Pat Toomey is running for Senate in Pennsylvania. He wants to de-regulate Big Oil and open up the Great Lakes for drilling.
— Christine O’Donnell, who is vying for the same Senate seat I was honored to hold in Delaware, is campaigning on repealing health reform.
The fact is this: The corporate special interests trying to elect these Republicans don’t care if they’re supporting extremists.
They just want us out of the way. With your help, we’ve enacted historic reforms despite their best efforts to derail us. Now, they’re focused on one thing — creating a Congress in which they can call the shots once again.
That’s why they’re pulling out all the stops — and spending millions — to win in November.
But we will not stand by and let them take the country backward.
We’re counting on you to chip in today to fight back. Your donation will help us fund the organizing going on right now in key races across the country.
Please donate $5 and help us reach our By the People Fund goal:

P.S. — Tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time, President Obama will be rallying with supporters in Madison, Wisconsin. It should be an exciting event — and you can watch it live at www.BarackObama.com.

So I have a question, what is wrong with capitalism? People want to start companies and make moneyand be profitable, and people like you have a problem with that, why? You also have a problem with people wanting to limit government spending and ending socialized programs. They are trying to do smart things to make this country prosperous again, and yet you think they are extremists. If you can explain this to me I would appreciate it.

I can only give you my opinion . I have absolutely nothing against capitalism with a small c … not the big C and D that brought us this economic crisis …the big C and D for deregulation or even the self-regulating that Wall Street, the oil, insurance and gas companies engaged in that not only used other peoples money but stocks that had no value … they=bet and lost most if not all and here we are. I believe that people invest their hard earnings …example a 401k and yes it is a risk but that risk is or shouldn’t be corrupted. And as far as having a problem with people wanting limited govt? no way … what i do know is that before President Obama was elected we all found the house of Bush had a financial crisis and instead of cooperating with the governing power Repub have decided to throw Americans under the bus vote no on legislation that probably would have made a significant impact on the state of our economy and the people but again Repub say NO to govt prog but behind scenes are asking for more stimulus money. Republicans are willing to say we won’t help unless you give us what we want -this is reckless behavior and if it weren’t for gov’t programs the Gulf Coast would not exist;and what would your neighborhood look like without Teachers,Cops,Emts,First responders because they are all govt jobs; -Republicans are doing whatever they can to ruin President Obama the problem is that their solutions don’t seem viable no substance no details. People act like all this spending would happen whether the economy collapse or not …that is just not so -and it is sad offensive and typical that the Media and folks on the right are promoting this nonsense. The problem we had needed a huge sum of money thrown at it but the Republican Tea Party has been the spoiler ..the obstacle and the blame if things get worse and i will admit there are some conservadems to blame as well.
I would like to ask you when do you think the house of Bush new we were headed for a econ collapse and why didn’t he head it off at the pass before the 2008 election? why didn’t he pay for the 2wars waged and the 2tax cuts by paygo? oh the last guy screwed us and the fix takes both sides of the aisle and that is not happening … i blame Repbulicans
…i believe a woman should have the right to choose and not be forced to go full term, i believe the hyde amendment is enough yet most conservatives believe they have the right to tell me what to do with my body, i believe a Islamic center should be built, that not all Muslim Americans are terrorist,SB1070 is an awful law and so is the birther law any notion to manipulate the 14th Amendment should scare those of us with brown skin or who look reasonable suspicious …oh and don’t forget gays or straights who support gay marriage and religious freedom -those against all of these things are from extremists on the right.
