just another rant …

Fall back y’all and we did.

The President and Mrs. Obama are at the APEC summit in Hawaii. The rest of us have to hear the continuous drone from Teapublicans who still think Americans want repeal HCR, Wall Street reform, cut Education by 20%, replace and eliminate social service programs that women, vets, older folks and the new poor use. I have to say Teapublicans in Congress must have taken a Pledge to wear earplugs in order to get through all their just say not campaign. Suffice it to say if these Teapublicans continue to go after the Middle Class Social Security Medicare/caid instead of JOBS it would definitely seem to be a recipe for trouble and likely force the USA into a double dip or deeper recession and will be the reason they will become unemployed; hopefully. I happen to think we went right into a depression what with losing 750 thousand jobs a month even before President Obama took office. The current rhetoric has absolutely nothing to do with JOBS or the Economy …If people are listening they have no intention of helping Americans unless it is on the backs of the Middle and Lower classes people …get that in your head!!! The Party of NO will be in control for about a minute and what we as Democrats need to remember is that we have to call Teapublicans out on every move they make to ruin the current President instead of focusing on and or creating Jobs. I have to say anyone with any common sense knows that the top 2% will not spend their tax cuts to create an environment so that people will be hired or create jobs and if they do it will be to outsource them for lower wages in China, Mexico etc. If you do not believe it, just tune into CNBC occasionally, and hear the words coming from various Teapublicans Ludlow and associates trot out on any given day.

I hope everyone is asking their Teapublican member of Congress what exactly the top 2% did with the Bush giveaways because it could not have been on hiring and creating jobs or we would not be in worse shape since the 2010 Midterm elections or see the mess all around us. I feel that after three years of gridlock from the Teapublican Party of No things are about to get heated within their own Family Values Platform party. Reports are and maybe Teapublicans need reminding that over 70% of Americans want to tax millionaires and billionaires, most do not want cuts to Soc.Security or Medicare, over half  of us want the new Affordable Health Care Act to be law. Yet, conservative members of Congress have given themselves over to Mr. Norquist as well as the big money brothers Koch and if you start to think about it that ditch President Obama pulled us from is a whole lot closer now that we have an extreme part of Congress controlling the House of Representatives … The question is do Teapublicans care what happens to their own family friends and co-workers jobs  and status in life if they continue this lemming march toward disaster?

just another rant … tweaked

In March of 2011, the abortion debate- a topic that has
strong feelings in both Political Parties has changed and the

status quo or agreement that is the Hyde
Amendment
has heated up … again. I post quite a few articles from
well-known activists and extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy organizations with great truthful information
regarding women’s health care, contraceptives, and abortion. I also post many
Petitions because they do work. The topic of abortion is a very personal one
that is a no brainer … at least to me. I still do not understand why any man
unless invited should tell women what to do with their bodies at all let alone
try to legislate it and tell us all we must not only have a possible unwanted
pregnancy we must do so no matter what the circumstance. In addition, some
politicians feel a pregnancy caused by rape is not a reason to terminate. I
gotta say if that ain’t some shit. I am still reeling over ex-Gov. Palin was
making women pay for their rape kits in Alaska. The attack on Women is not a
new thing right, but this is the 21st Century and while so many other things
have changed, the topic of abortion seems to bring out the barbarian in people.
These attacks on women are happening on the local and state level, have seen
some traction, and are now quickly moving to the Federal level. These moves
to control contraceptive sales and possible abortion procedures should tell
women that big government is only a bad thing if it regulates the JOB Creators
though they are not doing a hell of a lot these days. While The Family Values
Platform keeps creeping into politics a true lack of regard toward the
separation of church and state continues. The votes in the Republican led House
of Representatives should be all any Woman needs to vote these fools out of
office. I do not want to go into anyone’s bedroom any more than i want him or
her in mine. In 1973, the Supreme Court ruling made abortion legal and because
Rep.Hyde did not want federal funds used to provide such a procedure, the Hyde
Amendment created.

I do not understand how in the 21st Century… mostly men feeling comfortable trying to block not only a woman’s right to choose, but to have safe affordable aside from other health care services .

The Hyde Amendment    Introduced by Henry Hyde (R-Illinois) in 1976,bears his name restricts federal funding for abortion. Passed by the House as part of the Department of Labor and Health, Education, and Welfare Appropriation Act in 1976, the Hyde Amendment prohibits appropriated funds to be expended on abortion except when the mother’s life is endangered by her pregnancy.

Each year since then, the Hyde Amendment has been attached to the annual federal spending bill; and over the years other exceptions for rape, incest, and “severe and physical health damage” to the mother have been added, removed, added, and debated as the numbers of pro-life and pro-choice members of Congress have fluctuated.

The 2009 version of the Hyde Amendment allows for exceptions in the cases of rape, incest or endangerment of the pregnant women’s life.

The Hyde Amendment does not allow Medicaid coverage for abortion. Also prohibited is abortion coverage for women in in the military, the Peace Corps, federal prisons, and those who receive medical care from Indian Health Services. FROM >> www.womensissues.about.com

Anyway, I posted an article from MoveOn  and received a question and pictures in response to it. I appreciate the comments which came over a couple of days and tried to respond below .. .Abortion will always be met with strong words and feelings.  I have friends, family and co-workers who have the right to choose at the moment, but, it is up to ALL of us to fight and keep it that way.

HIM:Choosing to kill a baby is not a right. http://www.abortiontruth.com/pictures.html

HIM: When do you believe life begins? Lets start with your measuring stick for life.

FYI: The word fetus (plural fetuses) is from the Latin fetus, meaning offspring, bringing forth, hatching of young. It has Indo-European roots related to sucking or suckling, from the Aryan prefix bheu-, meaning “To come into being”.

I prefer to speak English and just call the developing life form in women, I don’t speak Latin in my daily use of language.

HIM:You really need to relax, if you can’t handle someone disputing your opinion you need to stay away from blogs. Or just censor those that comment on your blog if that makes it easier for you.

You complain about a lot of things that I never brought up. I state that I do not think that the choice to kill a baby is not a right. Am I wrong?

I gathered from your rant that you consider an embryo with a heart beat is now a baby. Am I right?

To save time, I am going to ask the next question as if the last statement is true. Would you then still believe a women has the right to end the life of a baby, as long as it is in her womb?

I am not asking these questions out of hostility and I hope you are not offended by me asking them. I really do what to know what you stance is and how you justify that stance. It is too easy to box someone into a pro-life or pro-choice label, when that label probably does not fit.

HIM: One last question. Is there any point where you believe a baby has a right to life while it is in a women’s body?

This is based on normal pregnancy and not considering medical complications that put a women’s life in danger.

I thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and I am finding your answers very educational. I understand that we will not come to an agreement based on this discussion, but I do believe that if we understand each other more that we can eventually  come to an understanding.

ME: I would like to know if you believe in less government at
all. If so, why shouldn’t my private life, my bedroom and my uterus be outside
your control, especially if i pay for the procedure myself and the most
important element being that the procedure is safe, affordable with women being
responsible and reasonable enough to make their own decisions. I feel any medical
procedure I am required to pay for or not is totally my personal business  and in my opinion, everyone should mind your
own business . The Hyde amendment should be enough for anyone to accept.
Planned Parenthood is a company that provides a safe environment for women,
what part of that is hard to understand.  I do not believe people in Congress think
about  the number of  women that go there and it is not to have an
abortion. Reports are that 3% of the visits are abortion related. Planned
Parenthood provides a great services beyond that sleazy image so many
Teapublicans prefer to project to the public. I would wager that under certain
circumstances even daughters/sons of the well to do go there as well as college
women in need.  I don’t think you get
it-using Latin words instead of emotions about a very emotional topic for any
woman is a problem, while you may think it’s used improperly the point is women
are smart enough to decide on medical procedures on their own and having a
choice is the point. I do not think any woman has an abortion for fun. It is a
topic far deeper than the clinical crap you are spewing. The fact is there was
a time when women and young women were desperate enough to use coat
hangers
drugs or fake doctors  to “take
care” of the problem and the reality is having unwanted babies is not the
answer and a woman’s body does not belong to you or the government. I think the
current laws rules and attitudes are suffocating to women in general. Women all
over the World should be able to decide for themselves have consultations with
their doctors and hope that a great doctor will provide safe and affordable
health care. I just read your comment and you sound controlling, act like the
decider , the guy/gal who thinks women should be pregnant and barefoot which is
pure BS and i do not understand this logic. The clinical and or professorial
attitude shows just how little you know about women and giving up my personal
control to you or my government is definitely a definition of big
government
.

———————————————

ME: i believe we can call a baby a baby when a heartbeat can be
heard, which is about at 9weeks depending on the woman but that does not change
my mind about abortion.  Women should not
lose the right to choose; we should be treated as intelligent enough to decide
and contrary to popular thought doctors actually do counsel and discuss options
but those choices those options are being slowly taken away by the likes of Republican
Tea Party under the disguise or family values platform when in reality it is
family enforcement. It makes no sense to think this is anyone’s business except
for the woman and her doctor, it baffles my mind to think a member of congress,
a stranger thinks my uterus should be controlled by them because of their own
personal beliefs, religion, values. I do believe that the Senate will respect a
woman’s right to choose though Republicans feel women should be seen and not
heard i guess with the cutting slashing and burning of safe, clean and truly
great facilities that help girls, young women and older women on a daily basis
for all kinds of things not just abortion. The fact is that places like Planned
Parenthood also talk to young men about their responsibilities and about
contraceptive etc. The idea of trying to keep a strong hold on information, procedures and
personal choice can only be harmful to the progress in the realm of women’s
health care –

—————————————-

ME: That’s funny. If what you said were true i wouldn’t have
even responded to your comment”, choosing to kill a baby is not a right.” I
actually responded each time even with the first question because you sounded excessively
clinical to professorial and if it sounded hostile, that is because of the first
comment with pictures. The question you asked in it brings up abortion. The hilarity
of just reading the comment, “choosing to kill a baby is not right” and the sadness
of the tremendous hold that men and or politicians from the Republican Tea
Party

Actually, i did not say an embryo equals a baby; I said that
when a heartbeat is heard i would deem it as a baby, which is usually at 9wks
could be more.  I am saying anything
before that i would say is not a baby … and i would say a woman has the right
to choose to do whatever she and her doctor have agreed to in private without
outside forces to interrupt because whatever is going on in a woman’s body,
womb, uterus is hers unless she so choses to share. I am somewhat offended
because you do not get it. I do not think you, me , the government, or anyone
else for that matter has a say in what a woman does with her body. I am both
pro-life …i have kids and pro-choice because women have the intelligence to
decide what they want, don’t you agree? What is missing is your justification
for saying choosing to kill a baby is not right and I have to ask… is it any of
your business to begin with. I know where i stand and why but i have no idea
why you feel the way you do.

As a woman, the passion or as you say hostility i show for a woman’s right to
choose is because the Republican led House cut slashed and burnt women and
children lately, these actions give me a bad feeling and could possibly create
situations where women of all ages will resort to desperate measures. I believe
in providing choices for women which men, politicians, women who have outdated
ideas about women ’s rights keep trying to take away, and it just does not make
sense at all

—————————

ME: That is the point isn’t it. We as individuals should have
the right to decide for ourselves. My response to your question as to when life
begins is just that my response, it is not meant to represent anyone else or
speak for others. I can only speak for myself so your question about ” holding
to the standard that a woman may only have freedom of choice before 9wks,” is
odd because there is no standard to health care as no one has the same issues
or complications or outcomes. I do not subscribe to nor did i say women should
be limited to 9weeks only that for me life started when a heartbeat could be
heard which is also different for each woman. I do subscribe to privacy with each
woman in America having the right to choose and no one has the right to enforce
laws rules and or control such a personal event. I am definitely offended but
baffled as well by those who still in this 21st Century believe that a Woman no
matter what economic status does not seem to have enough sense to make their own
decisions. Therefore, i will say i cannot relate to your questions regarding killing
a baby.  That question used by folks who
want women to feel bad but the fact is the Hyde Amendment addresses the rights
and the rule of law of a woman considering an abortion and anything else
certainly is not my business nor are they yours or our Politicians who seem to
want to invade a woman’s privacy on so many levels. Now, conservative
Politicians want to make it harder than ever to purchase contraceptives and
while they feel this mission are important they have underestimated women and their
independent thoughts and behavior.

I think we are at an impasse and while I appreciate the comments, we definitely
do not agree on this particular topic. -thank you for the comments though

just another rant ….

In response to an article written by AFL-CIO  … I was sent an article by Rep.Dennise Kucinich from jhaines, which i may not agree with because it is full of his “real” truth with not that much reality in my opinion

jhaines: What American Workers Don’t Need – by Rep. Dennis Kucinich, | 2012: What’s the ‘real’ truth?

While i did not agree with what Clinton did by implementing NAFTA to begin with, certainly with hindsight being 20/20 he might if given better info changed the process of trade some to favour Americans more so than it ended up doing.” NAFTA was signed into law by President Bill Clinton on December 8, 1993 and entered force January 1, 1994. Although it was signed by President Bush, it was a priority of President Clinton’s, and its passage is considered one of his first successes. (Source: History.com, NAFTA Signed into Law, December 8, 1993.” from about.com   I will say that after hearing how President Obama put some stipulations into the Korea agreement i am far more trusting of trade agreements that our current President is trying to implement …  it’s called fair and balanced contracts. I also feel that rep.Kucinich just does not agree or support President Obama from all of his comments and statements … I worry that Kucinich is against President Obama for reasons that are coming from the far right and that for me is enough to ignore
everything that Kucinich says. I would like to ask you- how do you feel that Kucinich was willing to jump out to Washington State at the drop of a hat just
to stay in the political game. I was offended that this guy would shop States because he wants to stay in the game not because he cares? Kucinich knows
nothing about Washington State let alone love my State and this is a sad example for any member of Congress but Kucinich is the topic so
his truth is just that … Rep.Dennis Kucinich truth. I prefer President Obama’s

thank you Jhaines for taking the time to respond to the Afl-cio article … I say talk is cheap action gets traction …I get it people have been ill-treated in
the past &why should Obama be different? I think that years of BS has been dumped at the doorstep of this President yet he has little slim or no partners
in that change we can believe in … why? Frankly, both chambers in Congress are okay with the status quo. We all have to remember that President Obama does not
create or pass the laws Congress does and so far they do not seem willing to get the job done… first they accuse him of not writing or presenting bills then
when he does both sides of the aisle whine. I say we need better members of Congress that will do the right thing, do their jobs, and work with President
Obama not against him …, which i feel Kucinich does

Just another rant …

All we are asking is for the millionaires and billionaires to pay their fare share !!!  I Support Obama/Biden 2012  I’m in that 99% and that means i believe that 1 – 2% should pay their fare share.

My response to those trying to bring back and pollute the airwaves with the BS about
President Obama being “the other” geez, we are all “other” at
some point in our lives, get real please…

Typical doubter rhetoric but i respect your opinion… i may not agree with it but i will not call you names or think less of you. I will
admit to feeling you need some re-education, rehab and or exposed to reality. I don’t know you and ok so you voted for a RWNJ, that is your unfortunate act as
you do remember what happened afterwards right. Though before the Mid-term
elections your Speaker Boehner announced far and wide that Jobs Jobs Jobs is
was will be the focus of your Party and then promptly attacked women and their
right to choose, children, food safety, clean air, seniors, gays and the whole
immigration system. I accept that you voted for RWNJ freshman with absolutely
no qualifications to hold a seat in Congress let alone vote on issues that
affect all Americans because they do not care. This is a small group of extremists who have held the middle class hostage.  They have shown themselves to be willing to
drive our economy and our Democracy into the abyss and now the byproduct is rearing its ugly head in all kinds of ways even though you said we are going
the wrong direction and the solutions are the Republican Party in 2012.  That statement is disturbing on so many levels. However, i did vote for Obama 2008 and will again in 2012 because Republicans/Conservatives proved themselves to be useless what with all those votes in the House of Representatives against the People they say they
represent but have yet to listen to. Republicans are governing the House with little or no effort to admit that the American People not only have buyer’s
remorse they are for taxing the rich though Cantor has stated that will not happen and btw they have no one in charge, they have no solutions only
complaints all coming from Eric Cantor. The solutions they do have are only for the top 1%, that 1% has been getting breaks for a long time, and that trickle down
theory… how is that working for us. I personally am subscribing to what works and that is the Government right now though Republican Governors have been
laying off government workers to sabotage all efforts in my opinion. If, you were able to watch the original not what is now posted online: The cnbc’s the
House of Cards you would understand why Wall Street types, capitalists like bernie madoff and others like him engaged in creative accounting. Greed! In
addition, the excesses going on were impossible to regulate or more accurately, these folks flew their corruption like a freak flag. The people at AIG and
those around them created a monster and the pay out by AIG to various Banks was enormous which having worked its way overseas
became something too big to fail … Is that the kind of Capitalism you want?  Capitalism does not mean firms
should engage in cooking the books, secret transactions and or becoming bigger than their sum value or investing in schemes … and Regulation does not have to
mean “job killer” though it is being used as a scare tactic in Congress.

We the People need capitalism with a small c and more regulation … with a huge R

just another rant … it’s not mine though … and his last on my spot

Rogerthesurf: Let me assist you to clarify your thinking a little.

“I am one of several in my family that grew up in a great area with clean air which has deteriorated and it can be felt by those of us who lived in this area prior to the industrial build up”

Firstly, you appear to be mixing anthropogenic CO2 with pollution. These are most certainly two different issues, although people who push the “Anthropogenic CO2 Causes Global Warming Hypothesis” do conveniently mix these things together which helps their cause unless you can see through the deception.

First of all, for the record, I and others like me abhor pollution, we care for mother earth and incidently I personally used all my life savings in trying to replant a native forest here in my country.

The thing is, CO2 is not a pollutant. Like water, it is essential to life. Remove the current trace quantities of CO2 from the atmosphere and every living thing on earth will die, followed by every living thing in the sea some time later.
Too much water? Yes you can drown. The same with CO2.  However a toxic concentration of CO2 is about  100,000 ppm. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_dioxide

Here is some data which may help you understand more about the non-toxicity of CO2

A scientist untainted by the AGW lobby would say that a concentration of about 1,000ppmv would be beneficial to life on earth, this being the concentration that Glass House growers prefer, http://api.ning.com/files/X-APctmkiwvgEI5fT6iiGjWFvKNX*cWuzeO4qmDVbgA_/Greenhouses.CarbonDioxideInGreenhouses.pdf
Our exhaled breath is about 4500ppmv http://www.biotopics.co.uk/humans/inhaledexhaled.html
Up to 5000ppmv is acceptable for work places (American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists.).
Up to 3000ppmv for residences (Canadian exposure guideline for residential buildings)
Medical oxygen has between 10,000 ppmv and 20,000 ppmv in it.
http://www.bocsds.com/uk/sds/medical/10_carbondioxide_oxygen.pdf
http://www.bocsds.com/uk/sds/medical/10_carbondioxide_oxygen.pdf
Currently our atmosphere has about 390 ppmv of CO2 in it.
Furthermore, some scientists credit the extra CO2 in our atmosphere as the reason for our increased food production.
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/02/090209205202.htm

Also the pollution which you so rightly abhor, is unlikely to have very much CO2 in it. It will mainly consist of particulates, water vapour and other substances such as sulpur dioxide, nitrous oxides, hydrogen disulphide etc. Hopefully, for your sake, it does not carry mercury vapour or other heavy metals which are of course also possible pollutants. Also CO2 does not cause water pollution. Emission standards for motor vehicles actually increase CO2 production by burning off the CO produced by the car engine.

So I support you in your fight against pollution!

” but i won’t hate on Gore for putting out info there or his ability to make $$$ that is the American way.”

Likewise I have no problem with people who make money honestly, however if you read the links I gave you in a previous comment carefully, you will see that Gore has put money in certain investments, where , because of his contacts with current legislators, he either knows that your government is about to become a large customer, or he knows he can actually influence the legislators and their departments to actually buy from his companies.

Now I am unfamilliar with current US legislation, but in most countries including my own, Gore’s activities are known as “Inside Trading” which usually carriy large fines and potential gaol terms for such people. And rightly so!

So there is a little “information” for you. Perhaps those who you accuse of practicing “disinformation” do actually know a thing or two.

Cheers

Roger
http://www.rogerfromnewzealand.wordpress.com

PS Perhaps you should study what communism and socialism are and decide if they are the American way before you continue supporting your current White House occupant.

ME: Roger from NewZealand
Your comments are getting creepy especially since they are now sounding personal, patronizing, and somewhat threatening what with a big effort to change my mind -which is not going to happen…
I knew exactly what i was saying when i used “industrial build up” … which, included not only plants that create pollution but more hi-rises more people more cars more commuting. I normally like new information but you seem to be sitting on that high horse and since I responded, i am at fault for providing you a platform for offensive comments. I say take your fight with AL Gore and or UCS, as they are definitely a group of Concerned Scientists. I am no Scientist nor have i tried to be one. I am interested in Climate Change and how our Government plans on dealing with it knowing if in the hands of Republicans, we will be in a much worst state. I suggest you accept what I said two comments ago, which was that I am given information in the form of emails, newsletters, and action alerts, which are meant to stir up a dialogue, and while you happen to be rude you have an opinion but your style sucks because it is so patronizing which obviously you prefer. I have seen your website and your spoof on Gore and President Obama is not acceptable to me so i could not promote your view on my blog. In addition, I did not accuse anyone of practicing “disinformation” i stated that if Gore was proven to be giving misinformation or anyone else for that matter, I would discontinue posting the information. So, again, do not skew what i wrote and suggest you take up your fight against Gore and or President Obama with someone else because the 1st Amendment is big in the United States of America.

Roger: What exactly do you find creepy, offensive and patronising then?  Could it be because I back up my statements with verifyable facts?

Cheers

Roger

http://www.rogerfromnewzealand.wordpress.com

ME: uh no … and if you don’t know then i have nothing else to say. Again, you ought to be taking up your debate with Gore and or UCS .I didn’t dispute your information or facts it was how you deliver them.
