Join us Tonight for national call with Rep. Gutierrez …Marissa Graciosa, Reform Immigration FOR America

National Call Tonight
To discuss impact on our community

DHS has announced they’ll perform a case-by-case review of the 300,000 deportation cases currently in proceedings in an effort to focus only on deporting high-priority criminals. We’ve already seen some positive effects from this announcement – several DREAMers and spouses have been removed from detention and/or had their deportation cases stayed.
However, there’s still confusion about what this announcement means for our community and our continual fight for humane, comprehensive immigration reform.Join Reform Immigration FOR America, Representative Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), and other immigration experts to discuss the impact of this announcement on our communities and where our movement goes from here.

WHO: Representative Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), immigration experts, and YOU!
WHAT: National Call to discuss DHS announcement
WHEN: Tuesday, August 30th, 8pm Eastern (English call) // 9pm Eastern (Spanish call)
RSVP: English Call @ 7pm OR Spanish Call @ 8pm

We’ll hear how the announcement is affecting those in deportation proceedings, discuss the political implications of the announcement, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions about what the announcement means for you.

Please forward to anyone you feel may be impacted by the DHS announcement. We’ll have a call at 8pm for English speakers and a call at 9pm for Spanish speakers. RSVP now!

Talk to you Tonight,

Marissa Graciosa

Outrage … Robby Mook and Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi

We just got word that Karl Rove’s secret donor funded swift-boat group is dumping an additional $119,502 into misleading ads attacking Democrats.

We must keep pace. Check out Democratic Leader Pelosi’s message below and please consider making a contribution of $3 or more before the August 31st FEC deadline hits to hold Tea Party Republicans accountable for their reckless agenda. Your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar by House Democrats.        www.dccc.org

Friend —

Republicans have just launched a dishonest new TV ad campaign in multiple districts across the country attacking Democrats who are standing strong for Medicare and seniors. Reports say the GOP has spent over $500,000 on this ad campaign of misleading attacks so far.

Now, after weeks of avoiding constituents who are outraged with their votes to destroy Medicare while preserving tax cuts for billionaires and Big Oil, House Republicans are set to return to Washington in a matter of days.

We must raise $500,000 before the August 31st FEC (Federal Election Commission) deadline to show that grassroots Democrats are united and committed to holding Republicans accountable for their reckless Tea Party agenda.       www.dccc.org

Contribute $3 or more before the August 31st FEC deadline and your donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar by a group of House Democrats.

We cannot let Republicans get away with selling out our seniors and the middle class. Stand with me today and help us win back our House Majority.

Thank you,

Nancy Pelosi
Democratic Leader

THANK YOU from Wisconsin! …Senator-Elect Jessica King

Senator-Elect Jessica King
Wisconsin Senate District 18

People For the American Way came through once again, and I am so glad you did. Thank you!

I called Michael last week to tell him how much I appreciated all the invaluable help from PFAW and its members to unseat Republican Sen. Randy Hopper in the District 18 recall election. I had to write to you to thank you directly.

I won by 1,200 votes and I have no doubt that PFAW’s help was absolutely critical in our victory. I particularly loved the direct mail piece that went out in my district to expose my opponent’s record and his attacks on the middle class and working families. And the extra airtime PFAW bought to run its ad against Sen. Hopper in the final week really made the difference and helped put me over the top.

While we Democrats fell just shy of flipping the Senate away from Republican control, the two seats we gained will make a huge difference, and I look forward to being a strong voice of progress for my constituents and all the working families of Wisconsin. And I will make you proud by fighting every attempt to expand the war on voting rights, public education and the working men and women of Wisconsin.

Thanks again! I can’t wait to work with you on the many battles to come.

With sincere appreciation,

Senator-Elect Jessica King
Wisconsin Senate District 18

Defending Science at the EPA

During the Bush administration, the White House worked to prevent the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from protecting us from formaldehyde pollution, smog, and global warming. In fact, White House officials secretly manipulated or suppressed EPA scientific analysis on each of these issues and many others.

And we all suffered for it.

Now, the EPA is drafting a scientific integrity policy that could keep politics out of EPA science. But the agency’s first draft still gives the White House the opportunity to censor or suppress scientific research from the agency—and the public would never be the wiser.
