DFA working to protect Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid

On Friday, we asked DFA members to vote on which Republican to target next with our new TV ad exposing the Republican attacks on Medicare, Social Security and education.

It was close, but the winner was clear: Republican Eric Cantor.

Now, we’ll hit him hard across his Virginia district before he heads back to Washington after Labor Day. You told us what to do. Please help make it possible by contributing $5 to get the ad on the air.

As of this morning, we’ve raised $30,000 for in-districts ads, but — to have a lasting impact and send a strong message — we need your help to raise at least $50,000 by Monday morning.

We’re holding Republicans accountable and hitting them where it hurts most — back home in their congressional district.

Please contribute now to make it happen.

Thank you for everything you do.

Immediately after Republicans voted to end Medicare, smart Democrats went on the attack. Working together, we elected Democrat Kathy Hochul to one of the most Republican districts in the country by exposing Republicans for voting to end Medicare and kill the American Dream.

 Republicans panicked.

Suddenly, for the first time since 2008, Republicans were pushed into playing defense and everyone from Karl Rove to Newt Gingrich was trying to distance themselves from Paul Ryan’s plan. It’s time to put them on defense again, but who should be next?

Help us choose the next Republican to target and contribute to keep the ad on the air:

Click here to vote for Paul Ryan  http://act.democracyforamerica.com/go/1083?akid=1259.1480546.T7LLWz&t=2
Click here to vote for Eric Cantor    http://act.democracyforamerica.com/go/1084?akid=1259.1480546.T7LLWz&t=3

I can’t choose. I want to run the ad against all of the above.   http://act.democracyforamerica.com/go/1085?akid=1259.1480546.T7LLWz&t=4

Our new TV ad focuses a strong message from real Americans sharing their personal stories — while exposing Republicans for trying to end Medicare, cut Social Security, and gut education.

It’s powerful and it’s real. That’s why it’s been covered by everything from ABC News to the Huffington Post. And with one more week left in August, this is the perfect time to hit Republicans at home and back up our Town Hall rallies on the air.

We’re fighting back and putting Republicans on defense.

Thank you for everything you’re doing to make it happen.

Don’t kill the Dream

We all want to live the American Dream of getting a good education, making a better life for our kids, and having a secure retirement. Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Pell Grants — these are basic programs that built the middle class and make it possible for us live that dream. But Republicans want to destroy the middle class and kill the American Dream for millions of families.

We need to create a clean energy economy, not give away billion-dollar subsidies to big oil companies. We need to ensure access to healthcare for everyone, not eliminate the most successful health programs in our country’s history. We need to invest in America’s future, not extend tax cuts for the super rich.

We can stop Republicans from dismantling the middle class and killing the dream. Please join Van Jones on DFA Live next Thursday, August 18, at 9 p.m. Eastern Time to learn how.

Thank you for all that you do.

All the work we’ve done in Wisconsin comes down to these next few days. Either we Get Out The Vote and take back the State Senate or we lose and right-wing Republicans continue their war on working families.

www.democracyforamerica.com

Republicans will do anything to win these recall elections. In May, they passed a new voter suppression law that makes drastic changes in photo ID and residency requirements to vote in Wisconsin elections, including these recalls.

In June, Republicans forced fake Democratic candidates onto the ballot, forcing primaries against real Democrats and pushing the recall elections further into the summer. Their fake candidates lost each and every primary.

Last month, Republican group Americans for Prosperity began mailing absentee ballots to Democratic voters with instructions to mail the ballots back after the election date.

Now, they’re blanketing Wisconsin with millions of dollars in last-minute TV ads and we need your help to fight back and Get Out The Vote. http://act.democracyforamerica.com/go/1012?akid=1188.1480546.qR2id1&t=1

Wisconsin isn’t the only state where Republicans are launching all-out war on working families. But it is our first chance to fight back. A win here will send a message to Republicans across the country — attack the middle class and you lose. Please join us today.

Thank you for all that you do.
