Paul Ryan gets our message ! boldprogressives.org

We made Rep. Paul Ryan feel big pressure this week in Wisconsin.

Along with his challenger, Rob Zerban, we delivered 65,000 signatures to Ryan’s local office — opposing his plan to end Medicare.

Local and national media covered our activism! The local newspaper headline blared, “Zerban presents petition on Medicare to Ryan’s office.”

Many candidates and political committees promise to do stuff in the future. We’re committed to doing effective work now.

We work with leaders in Congress and on the campaign trail who are committed to being bold progressives and partnering with the grassroots to move the ball forward on issues we care about.

That’s why we partnered with Sen. Al Franken to re-ignite public pressure for Elizabeth Warren — and partnered with other bold leaders on the public option and Wall Street reform.

Now, we’re showing how candidates can use their campaigns to pressure Republicans back home on Medicare — in a way that impacts the current debate.

Watch video from this week’s event. Then, add your name to Rob’s letter so he can keep doing events holding Paul Ryan accountable.

Thanks for being a bold progressive.

Issa continues harassment of Elizabeth Warren

Elizabeth Warren, perhaps America‘s leading consumer advocate, has done a superb job standing up the Republican bullies in charge of the House Oversight Committee. And the GOP‘s harassment of Professor Warren has provoked strong rebukes from Democrats on the Oversight Committee as well as tens of thousands of progressives across the country.

But they don’t seem to be getting the message.

One week after a subcommittee chair, Rep. Patrick McHenry of North Carolina, publicly accused Professor Warren of perjury in an exchange that quickly became a viral online video, Oversight Chairman Darryl Issa sent Warren what the Huffington Post‘s Hill Update called “an unusually obnoxious-sounding invitation” to appear before his full committee.

40,000 PFAW supporters have already spoken out and joined our petition telling Republicans to back off and stop their smear campaign against Elizabeth Warren. We’re still shy of our goal of 50,000, which we really want to hit in time to deliver the petitions to the Oversight Committee in advance of Professor Warren’s next appearance this month. That’s why I’m asking you to add your name right now — we need you to help us close the gap and hit 50K.

A message from Sen.Al Franken

Sen. Al Franken recorded a video for you.

Your support for Elizabeth Warren made a difference
Take action!
Watch the thank you video from Sen. Al Franken and then share your thoughts with Elizabeth Warren about what priorities you think the new CFPB should work on first.
Take action now!

Sen. Al Franken recorded a video thanking you for your hard work standing up for Elizabeth Warren, who will now oversee the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

In her new role, Professor Warren pledges to be a fierce advocate for consumers and rein in the reckless behavior of Wall Street bankers.

Without support from you and other progressive activists, she would have never been appointed. And she needs our continued pressure to hold the White House, the Treasury Department and Wall Street accountable to consumers.

This is big, and you helped make it happen.

Check out Sen. Franken’s video by clicking here.

In the video, Sen. Franken invites you to share your priorities on what the new bureau should work on first. We are working with our friends at the Progress Change Campaign Committee to make sure Professor Warren gets your thoughts.

Thanks for helping protect consumers.
