“For many young people, a Pell Grant can mean the difference between attending college or not. But this year, the GOP-controlled House passed the Ryan Plan, which would have gutted Pell Grants by an average of $830 per student. I fought hard to make sure that the Senate prevented these cuts from becoming law and I’m glad to say we won…that round.  I know it won’t be the last time the GOP tries to put Pell Grants or affordable education on the chopping block.  In fact, just this summer it took a massive outcry of public support to convince the GOP to stop student loan rates from doubling.”

We already knew Joe Walsh opposes abortion in any circumstance, including cases of rape, incest or when a woman’s life is in danger. This week we found out why: Walsh holds the ill-informed and outrageous belief that abortion is never necessary to save a woman’s life.

Walsh’s position on choice is far too extreme for 8th district voters. We just have to make sure voters hear the truth about Walsh’s record.

President Obama has made record investments in clean energy, and refuses to let polluters play by a different set of rules than everyone else. He’s implementing new standards to keep our air and water clean and our children safe.
Under President Obama’s watch we have more than doubled production of renewable energy from wind and solar, while investing in over 15,000 clean energy projects across the country.
Mitt Romney would cut funding and incentives for clean energy, including ending the tax incentive for wind energy, which could cost 37,000 American jobs. Meanwhile, he would continue providing billions in subsidies to Big Oil companies.
