Wisconsin update – almost there … Nick Passanante, Democracy for America

Wisconsin has been the front line in the War on Working Families for over a year now.

Right-wing Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker was the first governor in the country to launch an attack on unions and middle class families last year. Republican governors across the country — in Indiana, Florida and Ohio — soon followed his lead.

This summer, we have the chance to end the War on Working Families in Wisconsin and recall Scott Walker. There are three Democrats running in the primary to beat Scott Walker and polls show all three are beating Walker or polling inside the margin of error.

We have the momentum in Wisconsin. We’re almost there in raising the money we need to win, but we still need to raise $27,683 by the end of the month to fully fund our Wisconsin recall campaign.

Can you chip in $10 to the DFA Wisconsin recall campaign right now?

We’re not just recalling Walker, either — we have the opportunity to recall four of his right-wing cronies in the State Senate, too.

These are the same right-wingers who voted lockstep on Walker’s agenda to smash unions and middle class families, defund Planned Parenthood and pass a harsh new voter ID law disenfranchising students, the elderly and the poor.

We can end the War on Working Families in Wisconsin and send a message to Republicans everywhere — attack working families and you will lose. But we can’t do it without your support.

We can beat right-wing Gov. Scott Walker and take back the Wisconsin State Senate with your help — Please contribute $10 to the DFA Wisconsin recall campaign now.

Thank you for everything you do.

This fight starts now …Charles Chamberlain, Democracy for America

The only thing TV pundits can talk about is who’s up and who’s down coming out of the latest Republican presidential debate. But there’s an important election happening this year in Ohio and it’s only a little over one month away.

Here’s the deal: Ohio Governor John Kasich — just like Scott Walker in Wisconsin — pushed through a law to severely cut the rights of workers to negotiate their own contracts. It’s a job killing bill that will cost public employees like firefighters, teachers and cops their healthcare benefits and pay raises so Republicans can give more tax breaks to the super rich and corporations.

While nationally we were focused on Wisconsin, the people of Ohio — including many DFA members — fought back. Over one million voters signed a petition to repeal the law, putting it up for a statewide referendum this November. Now they need our national movement to back them up.

We’ve put together an aggressive campaign to mobilize over 75,000 DFA volunteers in Ohio. We’ll educate voters, identify supporters, and get out the vote this November to defeat the Job Killing Issue 2. We’re ready to hit the ground running on October 5 — going non-stop until Election Day but we can’t make the plan happen without the resources we need to win.
Please contribute $10 right now to deliver the resources to win.   WWW.DemocracyForAmerica.com

Our people-powered campaign will be modeled after the massive campaign you helped us build in Wisconsin this summer — putting staff on the ground to organize volunteers, canvass door-to-door and make phone calls.

Big corporate interests are going to pour money into this referendum, just like they did in Wisconsin. Mother Jones reported that the Koch brothers are holding secret million-dollar donor clubs for their super rich right-wing friends to finance “the mother of all wars” against progressives.

Right-wingers are going all-in in Ohio and we’re ready to do the same — go head to head — and beat them.

This fight is this year. It’s happening right now. We will win in Ohio and beat back another out-of-control Republican Governor, because you stood up today and helped fuel the campaign.

Thank you for everything you’re doing to win.

New Wisconsin TV Ad …Charles Chamberlain, Democracy for America

Which would you vote for — tax breaks for millionaires or essential funding for schools?

Luther Olsen voted for the millionaires and now he’s one of six Wisconsin Republicans being recalled for his attacks on working families.

We just finished a new TV ad showing how Olsen’s votes to cut school funding and support tax breaks for the rich has devastated communities across Wisconsin. Take a look and please contribute $10 to keep it on the air.

Last night, the first recall election was a big win for progressives. Republicans tried recalling Democratic State Senator Dave Hansen for standing up to their radical right-wing agenda — and he crushed their Tea Party candidate by a two-to-one margin.

That’s a win for the defense, but we need to recall at least three Republicans next month to take back the State Senate and end the right-wing war on working families. Here’s what we’re doing to win:

Right now, DFA Wisconsin Field Director Nick Passanante is on the ground leading our largest field program ever. So far, we’ve knocked on 20,262 doors in Republican State Senate Districts 8, 10 and 32.

Thousands of DFA and PCCC volunteers nationwide have teamed up to make over 70,000 calls to Wisconsin voters as part of our Call Out The Vote program.

Now, we’re expanding our campaign into District 14 with our first television ad.

Our TV ads earlier this year got massive media attention for featuring real Wisconsinites. We don’t make cookie-cutter ads — we feature real people hurt by Scott Walker and his right-wing Republican war on working families.

Please contribute $10 now to keep our new TV ad on the air.   http://act.democracyforamerica.com/go/935?akid=1100.1480546.d-DVKr&t=3

We’re not taking anything for granted. We’re going to keep hitting Republicans for their attacks on middle class Wisconsin families — on the air, on the ground and on the phone — until we win.

Thank you for everything you do.

a message from … Charles Chamberlain, Democracy for America

Exactly five weeks from today, Wisconsin voters will finally have a chance to stop Scott Walker and the Republican war on working families dead in its tracks.

All six Republican Senators are up for recall and we must replace at least three of them with progressive Democrats to flip control of the Wisconsin Senate.

We can win, but it’s up to each of us to make it happen. Will you sign up to make phone calls from your home this week to voters in Wisconsin?

Yes, I can call this week!

Making calls is easy. All you need is a phone and your computer.

Your shift starts with a short campaign conference call to make sure you have the most up-to-date news happening on the ground. And, of course, any questions you have get answered. Then it’s on to making calls.

Working together, we will win these elections and get out the vote — can you help by signing up for a two-hour phone shift?

Yes, sign me up to make calls this week!
Sorry, I can’t call right now but I’ll contribute $5 fund the campaign to win.

Thank you for working to win in Wisconsin.

UPDATE: Scott Walker vs. Planned Parenthood

Amazing! Thanks to DFA members like you, we raised more than $40,000 from 1,479 people in less than a day to fuel our campaign to recall these six anti-middle class Wisconsin Republican Senators.

We’re going to win this campaign in Wisconsin exactly because we have that kind of people-power backing us up. We don’t take big corporate contributions. We’re fueled from small contributions from thousands of members across the country — and we need your support now more than ever.

We’re almost there. We’ve already started hiring organizers on the ground in Wisconsin Senate District 32. Now we need to raise another $25,000 so we can start hiring on Monday in two more key districts. Can you put us over the top?

Please contribute $10 right now so we can start hiring organizers in Wisconsin on Monday.    http://act.democracyforamerica.com/go/859?akid=1030.1480546.P7JOcu&t=1

This is our biggest field program ever — with over 35 paid staff on the ground — and we can’t do it without your support.

Thank you for everything you do.

P.S. I wanted to include Jim’s original message below in case you missed it.

 ****************************************

This is it, folks. DFA’s campaign to recall six anti-union, anti-middle class Wisconsin Republican Senators is almost ready to go and it’s the biggest campaign we’ve ever run.

We’re going to be on the air with new hard-hitting television, radio and web ads against these six Republicans for their votes to destroy unions and middle-class families.

We’re going to be on the ground with a massive canvassing operation that will knock on 137,523 doors in 40 days. DFA Deputy Field Director Nick Passanante is on the ground right now hiring staff for our biggest-ever ground campaign.

And we’re going to be on the phones. That’s right, we’re bringing back our hugely successful Call Out The Vote program with our friends at the PCCC — plugging in thousands of volunteers from across the country to make calls to voters in Wisconsin.

We’re putting together a grassroots campaign because people-power is the only thing that can beat big corporate money — it’s the only thing that ever has. But we can’t do it without you.

Please contribute $10 right now to fuel our biggest campaign ever and fight back in the war on working families.  http://act.democracyforamerica.com/go/859?akid=1030.1480546.P7JOcu&t=2

These six Republican senators reminded us last week exactly what’s at stake when they voted lockstep with right-wing Gov. Scott Walker to defund Planned Parenthood — another attack in the Republican war on middle class families.

Wisconsin isn’t the only state where right-wing Republicans have launched all-out war on middle class families and we’re working right now to organize volunteers in New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio and all across the country. But Wisconsin is the first state where we have a chance to go to the polls and recall Republicans.

The Wisconsin recall is our biggest campaign ever — and it’s only the beginning. Join us now and send a clear message to Republicans across the country — attack the middle class and you lose.

Contribute $10 now to send a message to Republicans everywhere.    http://act.democracyforamerica.com/go/859?akid=1030.1480546.P7JOcu&t=3

On the air, on the ground and on the phone — that’s real people power. Please contribute today and we’ll win this fight together.

Thank you for everything you do.
