President and Mrs. Obama are hosting a Science Fair

Today.  I have been hearing more BS than ever from “the Media”  which is sad …people need to stop listening to the cable noise, the radio and get the facts -media opinion news is just that -an opinion!!- The Democratic and or President’s message that they speak of was not just held up by Republicans but cable and or mainstream tv that feature politics have held up the message  as well choosing to move more right of center each and every day as the Midterm elections come closer. I blame Republicans of course but the fact is”the Media” has to take some responsibility for their lack of getting any sort of fair and or balanced News from the Democratic Party out to the people wondering just what is the truth behind any story getting airtime. It is obvious that some people unfortunately believe the panel, guests or so-called experts who talk about an issue or a politician but ask yourself why don’t they just have the subject of discussion on for a rebuttal -that would be too easy right

I received and appreciate all the comments on the articles posted here. This week two articles got several responses but one person responded to two of them; one article was about Saving the Country, Murdoch style by MMA and the other was a response to one that came from Senator Barney Franck directly. My responses to both articles are below with some adjustments.

The first Comment was in response to Senator Barney Frank

(1)Well isn’t Barny the guy who said,  “it’s okay to have buddies with money”?  I guess he must of meant it was only okay if they were democrats.  So much for tolerance, eh?

Senator Frank is a politician and anyone with any sense knows that the fight is on to keep their seats in Congress and in doing so that not only means great campaigning, politicking or having the preferred ideology but money. If money meant nothing people would not be backing Angle, Fiorina, Whitman, Brewer, Palin or Christine O’Donnell because none of these embarrassing women are qualified to hold public office. I have no idea what you are asking me when you say – tolerance. The fact is people with or without money can be offensive.

Comment(2)

Tell me something, did you mind when Murdoch supported Hillary not so long ago? http://civillibertarian.blogspot.com/2006/05/rupert-murdoch-backs-hillary-clinton.html Do you have a problem …

Actually, my personal comments and or complaints when reading articles are about what I read first. I honestly do not care what side of the aisle the writer, journalist, cable and or mainstream view given to us by them is even though I am a democrat; I call them as i see them and when one side decides to push the envelope too far for me i respond… ah the wonders and need to tweet, FB or blog …and your comments about liberals having all the cable, major newspapers, magazines and whatnot …i know you are joking right? if you listen folks like Murdoch give to both sides of the issue and when one side becomes more of a commodity and gets more airtime he feeds it…everyone knows that -right? Again, people like him do not care just like the NRA they support 58 democrats as well as a whole lot of Republicans. What i do object to are the lies coming from Fox News the race baiting this station engages in …even CNN has moved right and that rhetoric though has 1st amendment on its side is offensive. As a person of colour and as a mom hearing Glenn beck send subliminal nonsense out into the airwaves with actual people choosing wrong instead of right -and people get hurt or worse …that is my prob. My sense of democracy means total cooperation from both sides of an economic collapse yet RTP has decided oh we will take all the money you’re handing out but we will vote no or scale it down as well as throw our own constituents under the bus to regain power -that is not democracy.

My rant …sorry for the mis info this morn … the 60million dollar issue is addressed in an article on the blog …read it

Today we are not just talking about class war but the Republican Tea party has been able to stir up public dissent and obviously if given the opportunity will:  put Corporations ahead of the people  ,continue race baiting, using fear and hate to make points to win in November and it is starting to get under my skin. I know that this same crap happened when folks were debating how competent Palin was and if you were watching “the Media” played her as the spoiler ready to go. It was upsetting that so many had that same tingle going up their leg but with all the noise coming from so many places common sense prevailed. The question is will people come to their senses before making their final decision on Nov.2nd or will we get played and succumb to repeal, replace, and an elimination of what America is. Will someone tell me what happened to our democracy that people would much rather vote for a looney tunes then those who truly have the people, the country in mind before profits and purity ideology….

When will Republican constituents finally get tired of do as we say not as we do mentally?

This morning while on the bus, I  picked up on a possible shady move by Republican Governor Christie that should show all of us one of several reasons  why we should not trust Republicans and why our economy has yet to improve. The money already spent and jobs lost from possibly killing the Hudson Tunnel project is an act that is reprehensible. The actions from  Governor Christie plus major Corporations who seemingly are the ones who create jobs …are clearly holding out, outsourcing and refusing to be apart of the economic solution.  They have quickly become an even bigger problem now that we are 2weeks away from the mid-term elections and if there is such a thing as fair and balanced all those who have dumped, solicited and took foreign money will be found out and be subjected to the rule of law. The Supreme Court, specifically Justice Roberts and the law he helped to enact which put Corporations on the same playing field as an individual seriously needs vetting.  To continue …Since we only have a couple of weeks left before the mid-term elections the rants probably will be about the crap being said done or the videos being made by the Republican Tea Party that are questionable at best silly though not funny and offensive and racially moved. When i registered to vote it was to be a democrat, there was no question because my parents made it clear exactly which side of the aisle Republicans stand and why. It was clear then and now it has become  even more apparent in this year of 2010 it is an American duty to vote for politicians that work for the greater good…People need to ask themselves what qualities are needed to do the peoples business not just a select few but for All Americans. The vote on November 2nd will be a vote for a Congress that will do more research before forcing a pre-emptive strike and going into war. someone open to new science…like stem-cell research, admitting that there are enough gays in congress and other parts of the political arena that the laws need to be changed, someone willing to say that women and men should be paid the same and change it, admit that minorities are not represented on all levels and change it , who have not lost  compassion for others and are willing to stand up and speak out for the middle and lower class. The things we are going through are all non-partisan realities… we are living in a different world…one that requires us to come together and decide as a human race, not as democrats or republicans; at least that is what the American public use to think but after losing power to the Democratic Party in 2008 and having the first African-American President the Republican Tea Party has decided to go not just extreme but use discrimination as a threat to all those who are non-white i guess because I personally cannot think of anything else they can use. The mid-term elections were called the year of the woman, Republican Tea Party crazy women that is and got to say as a woman they not only offend me just exactly how Sarah Palin did back in 2008 with strange comments. It is offensive and apparently folks on the right of center would rather have the crazies in power and while the comments are outlandish and those of us with common sense say wow that is crazy but feel, no one could take this stuff too crazy. The fact is something ugly is going on out there and it is stirring up people to vote for a different party right in the middle of a recession just because the corrections have not happened yet. It is sad that folks think for even one moment that years of financial deregulation, Wall Street bets, and outsourcing would only take 2yrs to fix but when people actually start to believe that the Republican Party has more knowledge or trust to get us back on track we all have to wonder if people have lost their minds. I have to say -WTF because the house of Bush took office with a surplus and the end of his 2nd term he gave up his power with America just about ready to fall of the edge of a ditch. It is clear that folks just do not get that it will take time to fix our economy and right now if you are even paying attention the trickle down that Republicans talk about just ain’t happenin it didn’t then and it isn’t now … people need to understand that Corporations are holding back their funds until they get their way and who is suffering because of this -All Americans not just the democratic side of the issues. I cannot tell anyone how upsetting that states continue to lay off Teachers, firefighters, emts and the police …

What information do constituents of the Republican Tea party need …what will happen if they shut down the govt- what will happen to your family if they do repeal everything and more importantly what will your neighborhood look like when the chaos reaches your town.
im just sayin

Today is not just the first day of October; my dad if alive would be celebrating his 94th birthday fishing; needless to say i probably would be there with him and later it would be fresh seafood and a flan for desert. RIP dad. The leaves here in the 206 are changing colour even more than last month and while the weather is always a mixed bag with a chance of rain the folks who know say the 206 will be in the high 70’s by the end of the day… ahhh the dog days of summer are still here tho waning away.

I feel the need to breathe deep in reaching up to the sky then slowly release your breath through your nose and repeat when needed.

It’s Friday and President Obama’s schedule will be busy as changes to his administration, fundraising for democratic candidates continue. This is a day of shake-ups and announcements in the White House what with Rahm leaving, Elena Kagan‘s Supreme Court’s investiture ceremony is on Friday, Thad Allen transfers his authority off to another while the folks in Congress run to their own states to campaign like it’s their last. The President has been out there on the campaign trail trying to educate, inform and get folks left of center to understand what is at stake if we do not get off our arse and vote. I do not know about other states but most people here vote by mail, which works out for me because you can peruse the pamphlet take you time to understand the issues, props, or initiatives and then vote it private and send it right back, you can even check to see if your vote was counted online. It is a great system.

It is also the day before the One Nation Rally the 10-2-10 event and at first glance it was  exciting. The idea that so many people wanted to take the time to organize an event that would not just show solidarity for those of us who are left of center. The event would also be a moment to show our support, and express what has been done so far by the Obama administration and  what still needs to get done if the changes we all voted for can become a realization was and still is an amazing feat. However, the last few weeks have made me slightly apprehensive. I am appreciative that progressives, liberals others have been willing and able to not just come together but invest money in the rally but is this a rally of support or will folks get on stage and suddenly talk bad about our President in ways that will sabotage the November election. The mid-term elections usually are not a big deal because normally the changes only affect folks in their own states; this is going to affect everyone because the issues are on a Federal level the changes will affect everyone. It is important that we all need to understand why the stakes are so high. In 2008 53% voted to change the status quo now those votes are now at risk and while changing the status quo should be the issue that holds this Democratic Party together the fact is some of the more left of center did not get their way and are now in the News almost on a daily basis. I get it and I understand freedom of speech, I just do not want to hear so much of the negative on national TV because it could give the Republican Tea Party an edge it could mean votes though if it meant losing votes that easily then they clearly were not left of center at all. So, keep it real keep it fresh and keep the negative under control.

Definitely excited to see the 10-2-10 event on national television I will also be waiting to count the numbers of barbs thrown at our President while watching. I am hoping that the backstabbing, subliminal messages kept at a low level. Is that too much to ask for?

toxic Thursday &some News

Today the President is in NYC at the UN and will address the General Assembly.

The Political Party of No… Republicans decided to roll out their Pledge to America as well today. The so-called Pledge to America has nothing substantial; only a lot of promises to repeal replace and eliminate social services we have all come to depend on because we pay into it.

The  great News today is that HCR begins for millions of Americans. Though it seems most are skeptical about what exactly will reform do for them the difference will be immediate for those with kids in college who already have insurance. They can now safely cover them while away at college. It makes you feel calm to know that if god forbid something happens to your child they will be covered and they have the ability to get medical help without the high costs. The fact that we only have a few more weeks left until the up coming mid-term elections it is with hope and faith that those people who have been watching listening will Vote for the Democratic Party instead the other side of the aisle. The choice i admit is clear for me; as a woman, mom of a young male person of colour the things that the right have in mind for the Protected Classes seem less than civilized. Anything Republicans say or plan will not be good for families …they take aim at freedom of religion, they are against a woman’s right to choose, don’t believe that gays should have the right to marry adopt or be in the military openly. The list of we don’t approve of by Republicans is long, that is why we the people need to be aware of what we the people will lose.

The rise of  the tea party movement…the implications and the people who are responsible for their actions makes me fear for my safety as well as other people of colour, well come to think about it the fear might be for all those considered a Protected Class. If allowed to gain control the Republican Tea Party will strip away the things we all have held dear up until this moment in our lives and the change I voted for in 2008. Again,  the November elections have a direct impact on our 2012 elections and those who say they want to sit this 2010 out to protest are stupid at best reckless and unaware of what they will be dragging the rest of us into when we have to decide who will be President in 2012. The choice for me is obvious because the work I voted for in 2008 has yet to get done. I knew that the effort would be hard but no one had any idea that Republicans would go to such an effort to ruin the fair election that 53% voted President Obama into office and expected him to govern but Republicans have put up road blocks not only to the change we need but for the Political Party voted to govern for four years.

So, when you vote in November remember how that vote will impact Congress and the legislation needed for All Americans and the work that still needs to get done with President Obama. The choice is obvious. I cannot believe how anyone could promote or vote for a person to be the President of the free world who clearly  feels they could only represent a select few, a specific people. My only conclusion is:  that it could be and would be truly an un-American thing to do… We the People should always be aware of that when voting for the President of the USA , because they represent all Americans not a few, some or a select group. The fact is that a person who believes and practices exclusion, discrimination, sexism, racism …. should never be allowed or considered to be the leader of the free world

When I  hear or try to understand the people in the Republican Tea Party movement; all I get is anger, fear mongering and hate. I have not heard anyone from the movement be specific about what big government means to them or why they hate it and when they try to explain the only information they seem to throw out at us… that government is too big but no one has yet to say what would they do to change our situation, they only give promises but without true explanations with implications they probably will eliminate any and all social service programs that most folks actually pay into all their lives.

I watched marches with nasty words about the President, signs with nasty pictures of the President, as well as people dressed in costumes that represented a time when both women and minorities were not treated well, i saw mostly white faces angry about the country being taken over by a Black man who quite possibly could be a socialist. These ideas were implied, promoted and provoked by Sarah Palin several times during the 2008 campaign for President. The right and or extreme right are definitely upset they are not in charge, they also feel a personal threat over the fact that our population in the United States is growing in numbers for minorities.  The notion that Republicans want to bring in more people into their base definitely is not an invitation to minorities, even with Michael steele as RNC chair it is obvious his party, who gives purity tests is a party of exclusion, only accepts a select few and if you pay attention to the words of Republicans they do not believe in compassion for others. We could really use a little social-ism right about now.

I still do not understand what Republicans stand for, they scare me personally, how can a group of people promote exclusion when it’s obvious we have the elite, the middle  and lower class, who are of varying people, they want the government out of their lives but feel they have a right to tell women what they can do with their bodies, no one is perfect but the C’street group should not have members that are serving in Public Office, if for nothing else than for the Separation of Church and State, which, obviously they are not adhering to. Just ask the people of Uganda, maybe in other countries as well. I would call for an investigation into just what are Public Servants doing in Uganda promoting religious exclusion and or something even more sinister.

Most conservative and or tea party members want to get rid of Medicare, Medicare, Social Security, which are all entitlements; my question is:  how would most of their parents or grandparents live if not for these programs? I just don’t understand.  i believe my first encounter of a movement, which, had no party name that i knew of were the words that came out of the mouth of Sarah Palin at her VP speeches, she mocked then Senator Obama, chastised people for believing in change that would come from a man that pals around with terrorists, which was a outright lie, implied that he was not born in America, that he was a socialist. My first thought was she and others running for Public Service should not be so reckless because she was only talking to a certain group,  relaying her message to only a select few and calling on them to vote for her, then i realized that this was her purpose. I was offended, i still am.

Now, the voices of or from tea party members are said to be from a wide range of people. I have to be honest, the tent of democrats is a lot larger and when people say there are extremes on the left as well? What kind of extreme are they talking about? Socialism? for me the last ten or so years of the bush White house has been life on the sidelines, working and not getting wage increases, that was during the Bush years, even then corporations were flexing their muscles, no increases but you can keep your health care…if you don’t have this that or the other.  I don’t think tea party folks truly understand what they want, if it’s what Republicans stand for then, at least for me, we are in great trouble.

The Bush administrations gave 2tax cuts to the wealthy and did not pay for it, he committed to 2 wars and these were not paid for. The spending this man did drain the government surplus, which was left to him by a democratic President, not perfect himself, but he did leave a surplus. Bush had 2terms and i still cannot think of anything positive this man did, I’m not in the top 2% so i definitely didn’t enjoy the wealth, the wars did not make sense to me ,9/11 still makes no sense to me, my personal opinion is that this event was used to go into war; there had been some negative interaction with bush1 and saddam; it’s just my own feelings but the embarrassment was not forgotten, an incident with Iraq and bush2 with or without the twin tower incident and 3000 dead would have happened one way or another, again, it’s my opinion, no facts. Today, we have a President who has changed the way the world sees us, he has extended a hand of peace, a willingness to talk. Not my way or no way as our previous one did; this is a good thing but that would be eliminated if republicans and or their fringe element called tea baggers get into office.

A man named Tancredo, who comes from a family of immigrants made comments about our President that were without a doubt offensive, first thought was these words of hate are lethal, words hurt, they are offensive when used in such a way as Tancredo did; but what really scared me was that he received applause from the crowd of what? Other racists?, people who want exclusion? If the following people are teabag supporters, like  Thom Tancredo, Sarah palin, scott brown, roger ailes, glenn beck, dick armey  it’s obvious we all need to watch out, the American people should be speaking up and out.
