Before you hit the beach, parade or barbeque today, take a minute to watch this inspiring video celebrating the military veterans who are rebuilding the World Trade Center. They received training through the Helmets to Hardhats program, which led to good careers for them as union members in the building and construction trades.

.The brave veterans featured in this video speak to the values of a strong work ethic, ingenuity and working together as a team—values shared by both the military and unions. These vets are why I am so optimistic about the future of this country. Though we have hard work ahead, I believe we can invest and rebuild our country through the sacrifice and spirit of working families, union and nonunion, all across this nation.

Working people built this country and it is working people who will make it strong again.

We need to take the lead and show our politicians and business leaders that they can do the right thing to create and keep good jobs here in the United Statesby ending the policies that ship production, jobs and innovation overseas.

Made in America is alive as long as we have the strength, pride and will to make it happen, as the veterans in this video show through their work every day. The labor movement is committed to these values because they bring us together and will make America strong again.

Thank you for all you do for working families every day—and have a safe and happy July 4.In Solidarity,Richard L. Trumka
President, AFL-CIOP.S. The Senate is expected in the coming weeks to take up the Bring Jobs Home Act, a bill that would eliminate the tax deduction for companies that move jobs overseas and get the ball rolling on much-needed reforms to keep and create U.S. jobs. Please call 1-888-659-9401 to leave a message for your senators that you want them to support this bill when it comes up for a vote.

How to Quit Coal in 30 Seconds …Greenpeace

Check out this amazing video of Greenpeace activists painting “Quit Coal” on the 450 ft. tall smokestack at the Fisk power plant in Chicago. They were up there for 26 hours getting the message out.

Watch the video and then help them spread the word even more by sharing it with your friends. Just click the image below…

All told, air pollution from coal-fired power plants kills tens of thousands of Americans every year. That human cost isn’t part of the bottom-line for giant utility companies like Edison International that operate plants like the ones in Chicago.

But local communities everywhere are fighting back. And Greenpeace has a campaign to support them.

Spread the word about the movement to quit coal by watching our video and sharing it with your friends right now.

The more views this video gets in its first 24 hours the more likely it is to become popular on YouTube! And the more popular it becomes the more people will hear about the amazing work activist all over are doing to get coal out of their communities.

Sincerely,

Kelly Mitchell

Greenpeace Coal Campaigner

A message from Sen.Al Franken

Sen. Al Franken recorded a video for you.

Your support for Elizabeth Warren made a difference

Watch the thank you video from Sen. Al Franken and then share your thoughts with Elizabeth Warren about what priorities you think the new CFPB should work on first.
Take action now!

Sen. Al Franken recorded a video thanking you for your hard work standing up for Elizabeth Warren, who will now oversee the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

In her new role, Professor Warren pledges to be a fierce advocate for consumers and rein in the reckless behavior of Wall Street bankers.

Without support from you and other progressive activists, she would have never been appointed. And she needs our continued pressure to hold the White House, the Treasury Department and Wall Street accountable to consumers.

This is big, and you helped make it happen.

Check out Sen. Franken’s video by clicking here.

In the video, Sen. Franken invites you to share your priorities on what the new bureau should work on first. We are working with our friends at the Progress Change Campaign Committee to make sure Professor Warren gets your thoughts.

Thanks for helping protect consumers.
