Traveling?  Heading to the Olympic Games?  Be sure to fight the bite!

If you are traveling to the Olympic Games or another area with Zika, wear insect repellent, long-sleeved shirts and long pants, and use clothing and gear treated with permethrin. Stay in places with air conditioning and window and door screens, or use a bed net if you’re sleeping outdoors.  Bugs, including mosquitoes, ticks, and some flies, can spread many different diseases.  Learn More>>

Protect your community from Zika! What to do after your trip

When you get home from your trip, be sure to take precautions that can protect your community from Zika – even if you don’t feel sick.  Take steps to prevent mosquito bites for 3 weeks after visiting an area with Zika so that you do not spread  Zika to the mosquitoes in your area. Pregnant travelers returning from an area with Zika can be tested for Zika. If you develop a fever with a rash, joint pain, or red eyes, talk to your doctor immediately and tell him or her about your travel.  Learn More >>

Due to four new confirmed illnesses, General Mills is adding additional flour production dates to the previously announced U.S. retail flour recall that was originally announced on May 31, 2016. The illnesses reported to health officials continue to be connected with consumers reporting that they ate or handled uncooked dough or ate uncooked batter made with raw flour.

 

The TDL Group Corp. Recalls Dried Chicken Soup Mix Products Distributed Without Benefit of Import Inspection
The TDL Group Corp., an Ontario, Canada establishment, is recalling approximately 636 pounds of dried chicken noodle soup mix products that were imported from Canada and not presented to FSIS for re-inspection upon entry to the United States.

PT Farm, LLC Recalls Beef Products Due To Possible E. Coli O157:H7 Contamination
PT Farm, LLC, a North Haverhill, N.H. establishment, is recalling approximately 8,800 pounds of raw beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157.

Good Food Concepts, LLC D.B.A. Ranch Foods Direct Recalls Non-Intact Beef Products Due To Possible E. Coli O157:H7 Contamination
Good Food Concepts, LLC, doing business as Ranch Foods Direct, a Colorado Springs, Colo. establishment, is recalling approximately 2,606 pounds of non-intact beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.

Updated information is now available. A list of retail consignees has been posted for recall 059-2016, Michael Angelo’s Gourmet Foods, Inc. Recalls Shrimp Scampi Products Due To Misbranding and Undeclared Allergens (Jul 13, 2016).

Meijer is announcing a recall of select fresh salads and sandwiches due to a potential risk of Salmonella contamination. The Markets of Meijer Salads and Sandwiches were sold in Meijer stores from 7/20/16 to 7/25/16. There have been no known illnesses reported to Meijer from the product affected by this recall.

Let’s Do Lunch, Inc., dba Integrated Food Service (IFS)of Gardena, CA, is expanding the scope of their June 19, 2016, voluntarily recall of certain ready-to-eat sandwiches because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Weis Markets of Sunbury, PA, is issuing a voluntary recall for 30 bakery products including muffins, cookies, shortbread and baked bread items due to the potential presence of small metal fragments (2-9mm) in the sugar topping used on these products.
