| David Phillips just started a petition to Chico Police Department and California State Attorney General Xavier Becerra demanding that the:
Police Department immediately fire the officers involved in killing Desmond Phillips and that the California State Attorney General press charges against the officers who killed Desmond Phillips. |

I just started a petition titled: “Fire and charge the officers who killed Desmond Phillips.” Here’s why this is important: On March 17th, Chico Police Officers Alex Fliehr and Jeremy Gagnebin came into my home and killed my 25-year-old son Desmond Phillips right in front of me! I had called 911 for medical assistance, something that I had to do relatively often since my son suffered mental health problems due to PTSD from being beaten by the Sacramento Police Department. This assault by Sacramento Police put him in the hospital ICU for four days. The Chico 911 dispatch, Chico Police, and Chico Behavioral Health Department were familiar with Desmond’s background and had successfully taken him in for mental health treatment twice before. On March 17th, the first responders who arrived at my apartment removed Desmond’s headphones and sunglasses which is how he was coping with the crisis he was in. When he became agitated in response, they first responders called in the police. The police arrived at the scene with a non-lethal beanbag gun and shield, but those things were never used. When Desmond saw the police he panicked and locked the front door. The police broke down the door, tased him and within seconds Officers Gagnebin and Fliehr fired 16 shots total from their two semi-automatic handguns. I was in the home the whole time and had to witness the murder of my son by the police. Desmond’s nephews who are 10 and 12 years old were also in the apartment. The neighbors heard what can be heard on the 911 tape as well, the taser was deployed and only a few second passed before the gunshots began. Every shot to my son was in his face and chest area. The police fired so many shots that a couple of the bullets passed through a wall into the neighboring apartment. Both officers were rookies, one with two years and the other with one year on duty. It was negligent and reckless for Sergeant Lefkowitz to send two rookies into a mental health crisis. The 911 dispatcher, the first responders, and the police NEVER called in ANY mental health professionals. Chico Police Chief O’Brien and DA Ramsey claimed that the Officers involved had gone through Critical Incident Training. However, Sheriff Duch who teaches de-escalation training, resigned in protest citing that the Police and DA were lying about the training Officers Fliehr, Gagnebin, and others have had. Sheriff Duch said that the officers who killed my son had never attended one of his de-escalation trainings. Butte County District Attorney Michael Ramsey has ruled that the murder was “justified” and will not be pressing criminal charges. During each public statement DA Ramsey gave during the investigation, his version of what happened has changed in multiple ways. The two Officers who killed Desmond got a paid vacation (administrative leave, during the investigation) and are now back on duty. The present a huge threat to anyone that lives in Chico. How many Black people must be killed by law enforcement before we see justice for their families, serious consequences for the killers, and changes in policy and procedure? join me in demanding justice for my son Desmond Phillips. Thank You, David Phillips |

We’re hiring Seattle’s next mayor — shouldn’t we interview the applicants?

We, the people of Seattle, are hiring a new mayor and two City Council members. Working Washington wants your help interviewing them for the jobs.
Tell us what to ask the candidates in their “job interviews.”
Workers need to know as much as we can about all the candidates before we vote — and we’re looking at some crowded races. As the Seattle Times put it, “the once-drowsy Seattle mayor race has become a mind-boggling free-for-all with more than a dozen serious candidates.” Plus, there are 15 candidates for two City Council positions.
Running Seattle is a big job — and since we’re the ones hiring for it, we want a chance to interview the candidates. We should all get to ask candidates about the issues that are most important to us, and find out who is going to hear what Seattle workers have to say.
What do you want to ask Seattle’s mayor and City Council candidates?
Your questions will help us give the candidates a “job interview” before the primary. We’ll be in touch soon with more details.
Thanks for your help,
Emily, Working Washington

Clean Energy … Tell your Governor to Commit
a message from Barack …

The 115th congress … no better than the 113th or 114th
… just another rant
So, in 2016-2017, Paul Ryan told CNBC that republicans have spent years getting ready for a “UnifiedGovt” and are now going to “rock and roll.” There are several disturbing questions that come to mind! Like … what actions have republicans been taking to get here, was trump in on any of the steps toward a trifecta government, who exactly helped them over the years, did they cross that line of ethics and will some members of congress get kicked out and or held accountable for sudden sweeping of necessary oversight of Congress under a dirty House rug!, which was and still is led by Republicans btw.
Things to be reminded of … Congress, paid for by taxpayers lest we talk about the GOP’s seemingly big issue with “political privilege” could be on the agenda of several in Congress and putting the department under the House jurisdiction quashing not only the whole idea of an “independent oversight office of ethics” and that is absolutely offensive on its own, but knowing they planned, held a secret meeting quietly voting somewhere in Congress just seems appears and is un-American. Though, if we reach back to say… when the 113th Congress’ actions were found out, those of ted cruz and others, you are reminded this is basically the same crew who were willing to shut our government down twice; who also met in some restaurant pledging to do nothing for 4-8yrs because the likes of a President Obama,a bi-racial man was holding down the highest office in the land? And offended to him being in their White House on January 20, 2008-2017, but that’s my opinion. This move obviously means their plan will be to dump, cut, slash and burn what those of us leaning left of center believe are #AmericanValues
Again, just to remind you! Congress, led by republicans when Paul Ryan was there killed transparency, good governance, the ability for folks to file complaints, a path to reconcile any conflict of interest issues, ended a vehicle to challenge the behavior of congressional member’s that act up. If you have heard or watched any of the horrible stories your jaw would lock up .
and … on the list of honey do it to me, my family friends and co-workers
