mindful Monday &some News

President and Mrs. Obama are hosting a Science Fair

Today.  I have been hearing more BS than ever from “the Media”  which is sad …people need to stop listening to the cable noise, the radio and get the facts -media opinion news is just that -an opinion!!- The Democratic and or President’s message that they speak of was not just held up by Republicans but cable and or mainstream tv that feature politics have held up the message  as well choosing to move more right of center each and every day as the Midterm elections come closer. I blame Republicans of course but the fact is”the Media” has to take some responsibility for their lack of getting any sort of fair and or balanced News from the Democratic Party out to the people wondering just what is the truth behind any story getting airtime. It is obvious that some people unfortunately believe the panel, guests or so-called experts who talk about an issue or a politician but ask yourself why don’t they just have the subject of discussion on for a rebuttal -that would be too easy right

I received and appreciate all the comments on the articles posted here. This week two articles got several responses but one person responded to two of them; one article was about Saving the Country, Murdoch style by MMA and the other was a response to one that came from Senator Barney Franck directly. My responses to both articles are below with some adjustments.

The first Comment was in response to Senator Barney Frank

(1)Well isn’t Barny the guy who said,  “it’s okay to have buddies with money”?  I guess he must of meant it was only okay if they were democrats.  So much for tolerance, eh?

Senator Frank is a politician and anyone with any sense knows that the fight is on to keep their seats in Congress and in doing so that not only means great campaigning, politicking or having the preferred ideology but money. If money meant nothing people would not be backing Angle, Fiorina, Whitman, Brewer, Palin or Christine O’Donnell because none of these embarrassing women are qualified to hold public office. I have no idea what you are asking me when you say – tolerance. The fact is people with or without money can be offensive.

Comment(2)

Tell me something, did you mind when Murdoch supported Hillary not so long ago? http://civillibertarian.blogspot.com/2006/05/rupert-murdoch-backs-hillary-clinton.html Do you have a problem …

Actually, my personal comments and or complaints when reading articles are about what I read first. I honestly do not care what side of the aisle the writer, journalist, cable and or mainstream view given to us by them is even though I am a democrat; I call them as i see them and when one side decides to push the envelope too far for me i respond… ah the wonders and need to tweet, FB or blog …and your comments about liberals having all the cable, major newspapers, magazines and whatnot …i know you are joking right? if you listen folks like Murdoch give to both sides of the issue and when one side becomes more of a commodity and gets more airtime he feeds it…everyone knows that -right? Again, people like him do not care just like the NRA they support 58 democrats as well as a whole lot of Republicans. What i do object to are the lies coming from Fox News the race baiting this station engages in …even CNN has moved right and that rhetoric though has 1st amendment on its side is offensive. As a person of colour and as a mom hearing Glenn beck send subliminal nonsense out into the airwaves with actual people choosing wrong instead of right -and people get hurt or worse …that is my prob. My sense of democracy means total cooperation from both sides of an economic collapse yet RTP has decided oh we will take all the money you’re handing out but we will vote no or scale it down as well as throw our own constituents under the bus to regain power -that is not democracy.

Weekend review &some News -The Heritage Foundation

***Lately, cableheads have been giving out sources for their various claims with the preface of who and where they got their accurate, good or great News info lately and for a news junkie it slightly amused me, definitely annoyed me so the rant is on. I watch and listen to all things Political on the tele but i rarely feel any group, single person or guest on cable is truly giving me the truth.  It is all opinion News and while we all know this the News just seems different  since the first African-American President was elected by 53%. I get the impression from some stations that they are still having a tough time with it and quite possibly the stations who probably are folks leaning to the right of all issues paying folks to those of us left of center tidbits that seems reasonable, fair and balance though i still am not drinking the kool-aid. If you are paying attention you hear what talkingheads consider then spew the news over the course of a 15minute set and all of a sudden a jab, a knock or personal complaint is thrown at President Obama or “The Government” without naming names… which is not just offensive to me but the viewer should get it most cableheads lean right .

The article below was first written February of 2009. I only included a portion of it, so if you want to read the complete article i guess you have to go to their website but it is apparent the article was intended for fellow members of the Heritage Foundation. The problem for me is that this group was on just about every News station all during the 2008 election campaign  giving out information that the public was asked to absorb and believe as the truth …We are now about 2 years later and while they are not on main stream tv as much the rhetoric has become nastier and they  have taken to CSPAN with what I consider dangerous rhetoric.   The point is that the Heritage Foundation is not a neutral organization as many have claimed and even ed shultz had to question their intent last week as well as a few other cableheads.  If you are listening to Republicans on any given day on any talk show all you hear are talking points given to them by the Heritage Foundation and these candidates are spewing them almost verbatim…it is offensive. This article grabbed my attention in 2/2009 and it just keeps being played over and over verbally by the right even now.

Stimulus Bill Abolishes Welfare Reform and Adds New Welfare Spending …

by Robert E. Rector and Katherine Bradley … To heritage foundation members

But overturning welfare reform is just the beginning. In his recent press conference, President Obama explained that the stimulus bill would provide “tax relief” and “direct investment” in infrastructure. He neglected to mention that of the $816 billion in new spending and tax cuts in the House stimulus bill–32 percent or $264 billion–is new means-tested welfare spending, providing cash, food, housing, and medical care to poor and low income Americans.[5] (The figure in the Senate bill is about 15 percent lower.)

I have to ask is what the Heritage Foundation saying truly an American attitude?

TGIF …&some News …Mrs.Obama’s speech while in Wisconsin

Congress is still on break…sigh ..so much work to do, so many bills to get through… only if we had more(truer) Democrats on the floor of both Chambers of Congress. Vote Dems on Nov.2nd

***Today started out like another day of nasty weather just like the rest of the country and while the weather does affect, maybe set the mood for the day it is on a very rare occasion that the weather makes a person or group of people act out in ways that are not just extreme, obscene and or pack like but their actions and their words have influenced some ugly behavior from their followers. The words and comments being made by rightwing radio hosts, protesters and cableheads but mostly Republican Tea Party candidates continue to race bait, promote violence, lean to the extreme as promises of repealing, replacing and eliminating looms over the middle class if the Republican Tea Party gains control. I have to say contrary to what progressives are saying on the airwaves the  land  of the middle class is not ruled or inhabited only by white folks like keith o and ed Shultz would have us all believe. I appreciate the advocacy they do and the variety of guests but it is getting tiring to hear that “those people” in need, the poor blah blah blah they talk about are black or Latino …I am not naïve but being poor is not about colour Keith and or Ed Shultz, there a lot of poor white people in need too as well as there being non-whites who are or should be included in your so-called Middle Class monologue yo.  The words coming from the right definitely upsets me but I gotta say tuning into so-called progressive stations playing the class war game as well is making me tune out almost completely.

The great speech while in Wisconsin by Mrs. O is below

We have two weeks before we all vote and though people like Palin love trying to engage in the art of fear mongering it would be great if the public finally gets it and turns off the nasty vitriol.  Words still matter, words hurt as we have seen over the last few weeks and this seems to have been lost on a whole lot of people on the right. The blood pressure of Americans seems to have been pushed up by rhetoric that is just full of miss-information.  After watching the latest round of debates the need to fact-check not only the news but right-wingers and their candidates because the do as we say not as we do is in full effect and while we all expect truthfulness this 2010 group of Republicans have decided to lie…luckily for folks who care can log into YouTube and plug in any candidate and hear their views their real opinions because it got caught on tape.

The changes the Obama admin and Congress have been able to put in place despite the Political Party of no will affect all our lives, our children and our jobs. The new HCR laws  will transform the lives of people who previously were denied coverage due to an illness, people who have kids just about to turn 22, usually get dropped will now be able to stay on your insurance until age 26 and as for being a woman… def a pre-existing condition has been dealt with and while some of us didn’t have these new laws in place when we needed them it is with great pride that others will not be subjected to insurance and or health care discrimination; hopefully, all the changes will happen in a positive way; create healthier people and jobs in the future.

Anyone with a mom, sister, daughter or wife should celebrate because the new law of the land will increase her ability to live longer.

wacky Wednesday &some News

So …did you receive your ballot in the mail yet …gotta say comments about the Democratic Party not being excited seems like a story line … but if it helps keep pushing it because it ain’t over til it’s over right?

The News of campaigns and or debates putting the Republican Tea Party at an advantage has my blood boiling especially when these people are walking back nasty comments and responses like they did not word it right or that they meant no disrespect if they offended anyone …open your eyes folks.  The Brown/Whitman debate seemed skewed in my opinion.  i was offended at how Tom Brokaw used the N-word as a comparison to the word used to describe Meg Whitmans‘   behavior. I was more upset that she is getting away with buying endorsements and or votes. The fact that an aide used the offensive word not the soon to be Governor of Cali Jerry Brown is also offensive because the media made a decision not to give all of the information surrounding the incident which gave Whitman more airplay . I’m no angel but this incident should not cause women to stop supporting Jerry Brown’s bid for the office of Governor. I would suggest he might need to get rid of the aid, watch his back, apologize and move forward.  The choices in this election year are obvious to me but ask yourself if you are still trying to decide; do you want someone with experience, who will work for all of the people or someone who has engaged in do as we say not as we do  like so many other Republican Tea Party campaigners. This incident is not that serious, what is serious, what viewers should consider and vote for should be based on are Meg Whitman’s actions and the facts behind Meg Whitman’s actions. Okay, who*e is bad but in the context in which it was used was on point. It is obvious that Whitman did some backroom deals, which, if anyone has been paying attention Whitman stated that backroom deals are indefensible and has accused Jerry Brown and the Obama admin of doing so, yet Meg Whitman feels her actions should be given a pass. As a woman and mom with not only a multi-ethnic but a culturally mixed family we have been taught to respect people and treat them just as you would want to be treated instead the do as I say not as I do attitude Whitman and her other extreme right colleagues have seems to be taking hold and it makes me sick. I have to say her behavior toward her housekeeper and nanny let alone the reports of how she treated her female worker is all i need. I honestly feel she should not even be in the running because as someone who feels my worth has been not just denounced by the Republican Tea Party but used a vehicle of shame, fear and “the thing” in the room that needs to be taken down as implied by most of the extreme right politicians or their supporters.

I do not know about you but the idea that anyone would vote for people who clearly have no respect for the office of President let alone using the fact that we have the first President of colour and then treat voters as if they are not paying attention is not just offensive it is so ill advised. People came to their senses before the 2008 elections and they can do the same for the midterms.

I am hopeful but in this year of  2010 sometimes it feels like another time what with the latest candidates not just making discriminatory comments they are using or portraying minorities as criminals in campaign videos. They have regressed even further into primal scare tactics of i guess the white middle class by using i guess scary hip hop music as the background to life in the scary lane and this combined with the words obviously filled with fear mongering if you are gullible. The tactic is offensive, it lacks compassion, lacks intelligence and knowledge of most Americans in this 21st Century. I want white people to know they have nothing to fear, most know folks who have blended families, work with a lot of people different from themselves and have not suffered any real repercussions in my opinion. Actually, no one should  allow the words coming from the Republican Tea Party make you vote against your own best interest. At some point people have to admit  that the Tea party has problems with the way people live and want to control personal issues with their family values platform. The Republican Tea Party  practices exclusion, engages in race baiting and discrimination, denounces freedom of religion, want to control and devalue women’s rights issues, disrespect gender identification and preference issues all the while stating they want government out of our lives. The ideology they practice is exclusion and divisive; this is truly un-American. I’m not gonna lie the extreme movement scares me because they have used race, religion, sharia law and money to manipulate the facts, manipulate i guess white people to gain power and trust of Americans who are angry. I get it but the fact remains that the last guy and his Republican Tea Party clearly are at fault for the financial problems and the lack of regulations not just with the Banks, Wall Street, but for the insurance companies selling banking products and people who got housing loans but could not pay for them. Again, i get it but why be angry and uninformed. If nothing else think about how if you were apart of that 53% who worked hard and voted for change made your decision between Barack Obama and the McCain/Palin ticket in 2008 but are discouraged right now. People sorted out the info, the videos and crazy talk and made the right choice now the midterms will be a vote that moves us into the 21st Century instead of backward like the RTP.  The choice was obvious then and people need to be honest these extreme tea party candidates are definitely not qualified to hold public office. They are suppose to represent all the people in their various States but they promote and practice exclusion, some have lied about their education, others have outsourced jobs in prior positions of power, employed the undocumented,  lack educational experience  and have financial problems, racists and quite possibly most are obviously homophobes. It is offensive that they managed to get this far but it is now a reality that the Democratic Party definitely anyone that is a “protected class” needs to fight back against these people with your vote for Dems on Nov.2nd.  The “Media” says voters from the right are likely to prevail.

I cannot imagine one person who can say that repealing, replacing, or eliminating government programs or employees will not affect them or a family member, a friend let alone co-workers, or neighbors. We all need to  ask ourselves what will our neighborhoods look like without Cops, emts, Teachers, Firefighters and other government workers who keep the streets clean, process your relatives social security checks oh wait they want to cut that too.

Weekend reviews &some News

I forgot to add that President  Obama and VP Biden will be in Philadelphia today campaigning…reports of it being broadcast are great … so left coast be aware …the Band Roots will entertain…love them …FYI!!!The president spoke to more than 17,000 voters last week in Madison, Wis., where many more thousands watched on screens in an overflow area.

Weekend buzz … and rants include “the Media” screaming to all that will listen that it’s a tidal wave coming but if you are listening to the way the poll questions are configured and or how the hosts or commentators talk you start to get the sense that people have not been getting all the information so that they can make an intelligent decision when it is time to vote or maybe the question is skewed. Some days i want to wipe my nose with the stuff i hear from Political Pundits yet because i am not an insider some of it has to have some foundation and that is troubling. We are in the final weeks leading to the midterm elections and some interesting stories are coming out of the woodwork regarding a few candidates clearly on the extreme right and while it seems we cannot boot them out for their extreme ideology it is important to expose them on as many levels as possible: The fact that Meg Whitman or any other candidate would employ an undocumented worker while talking the political hard line against immigration is practicing hypocrisy at its worst…to be honest the whole wh**e comment does not bother me because Brown did not say it and why it was said proves Whitman is in fact buying votes and or endorsements which she is against right… sigh. The story about the guy who used to play Nazi dress up on weekends who is now running for a Public Service job is so outrageous as well the story about Governor Christie trying to dump the Hudson Tunnel Project which did not get enough airplay and it epitomizes why its likely we are not improving …how many other Republican officials have or are trying to lay people off or dumping projects and if so what do we assume their intent is and should they be responsible for paying back the money they took from the stimulus fund —that is a Hell yes! To continue …After the latest comments from Senator DeMint i wonder what his constituents are saying and what seems even clearer for me is DeMint definitely is telling Americans to do as we (Republican Tea Party) say not as we do and that truly is un-American. I am still trying to get over how DeMint was able to implement Universal Health Care but managed to give the rest of us the proverbial finger. I know that even though the people in Massachusetts hated the process, hated who was implementing HCR, some even protested what they call the sausage making yet while Congress was putting HCR together Massachusetts voted for a tea party guy into Congress complaining about HCR, but when you asked them 80% stated they wouldn’t give up the Universal Health Care that DeMint and others implemented but I guess they did not want the rest of us to have it. I believe the current dissent in the country is not just class warfare, race, religion so on and so forth it is because this Congress did not take a hard left and while that might be what we all want it is not what the office of President is all about. Unfortunately, Republicans refuse to let President Obama govern, refuse to be apart of the solution and well here we are – I blame the Republican Tea Party

I admit it …I feel tense when I listen to the opinion news but because I am listening closely they do fail to convince me that Congress will have a new look after Nov.2nd but if the scream of a tidal wave helps people do their civic duty -Vote for DEMS; then by all means scare us but with folks like ab stoddard all you get is democratic gloom and doom and that is tiring. I have faith that people will come to their senses even those in “the Media” because though they seem to exclude themselves from the inevitable …they too are apart of the voting consortium and should be concerned that crazy people actually have a chance to represent Americans. In the end do we blame “the Media” for what happens in November or the obvious side of the issues they seem to take because money does talk and what with major corporations owning all the cable and main stream stations can we expect them to tell the truth …food for thought eh? the comment below is from our President while at the Chicago rally.

“Sometimes I feel as if we had such a high on election night, and then there was the inauguration and Bono was singing and Beyonce,” Obama said at a fundraiser in Chicago last week. “That was the start, not the finish, of the journey. And it made each of you a shareholder in the mission of rebuilding our country and reclaiming our future.” -President barack obama  -source: charles babington -AP

Saturday …For sure the 206 will be raining, cloudy with frequent bouts of wind… sigh it’s all good this weather could be worse right. The News Tribune reports heavier-than-normal traffic is expected for a holiday weekend at the U.S. -Canada border crossings because Monday is Columbus Day in the United States and Thanksgiving Day in Canada.

My rant today is about the extreme and somewhat silly behavior of the Republican Tea Party. If you are watching the news it is hard to look away from the ugly behavior but now they are becoming downright desperate and oh boy does Meg Whitman symbolize that on so many levels. The rumors that she has been buying votes seems to have become a reality …first of all it was an aid to not the next Gov Jerry Brown and while Whitman has been unleashing the conversation with out the full context or the entire conversation i would like Jeanne and Whitman to know that given the facts behind the comment i agree with the aid. It proves that you madam are definitely buying votes.  The comment was bad for anyone to make but all we heard is what it meant on the surface and a lot of people in “the Media” came out saying oh no he did not say that on all sides of the aisle the facts remained undercover and by late last night most of us heard how and why the aid would say such a thing.  My take is those quiet meetings, backroom deals if you will and include, if the talk is real – a sum of 45million dollars.  It does prove once and for all that Meg Whitman indeed is engaging in desperate moves to get ahead of the competition by buying votes from at least the Police in California but then someone from the Police must have gotten greedy and called Brown’s camp … and i paraphrase -were giving Meg our endorsement unless you deal with our union pensions. bad behavior gone ugly

Last … some days you just have to share right maybe ask  did that strike you as weird too but then i have this need to respond because the comment seemed extreme, the writer seemingly gothic and then again it could be all about sarcasm with a little bit or splash of threatening behavior at the same time. I have a choice of  taking what the writer says seriously or decide that what the writer is sharing is that right of center love or rhetoric that so many of the Republican Tea Party members seem to engage in and spew at any given moment …always lurking under the surface. Well, i decided to share it with everyone, heck this blog is on the interwebs right …Anyway, the article Tattoo is getting some attention, actually the article from Speaker Pelosi received quite a few comments, most were nice and because we do have 1st Amendment rights folks use it and i choose to share it. The article is about the need for the Democratic Party to help support our candidates attack their opponents because clearly the Republican Tea Party has big maybe foreign Corporations funding their party not to mention the rhetoric is ugly at best, it is also filled with mis-information or their truths and should be challenged now more than ever. I have absolutely no problem with someone who wants to use their 1st Amendment rights, share their view or ideology but let’s keep it nice, play fair and don’t throw jabs that seem like threats eh? And btw stay away from my lady parts…. so …below is a comment in response to the article Tattoo

thank you for the comment from

Yes, Americans and American industry has arrayed themselves against the Leftist filth who want to destroy America.

Be thankful that, so far, it’s being handled through elections. Keep to your treasonous ways and we’ll have neither reason or desire to refrain from exterminating your ilk unto the last misborn crotch-dropping of unknown paternity.

For myself, I hope you continue; I look forward to the purge.
