Wow, so many well-known folks are on the West Coast this week! The President and Mrs. Obama will be holding rallies to move America forward on the left Coast reinforcing what folks should already know; Vice President Biden and President Clinton all in town to show solidarity to move America forward.  The 2008 Presidential elections was only the beginning of what will be a long journey leading Americans not only into the 21st Century but a country we can all say works for everyone not just a select few, or for the extreme and or willing to throw everyone under the bus to regain power. It is important that we all realize even though Republicans refuse to admit it is that what happened to the US was a non-partisan reality. The Republican Tea Party chose in my opinion to abuse Americans and misuse their power of authority on the floor of Congress with filibusters, the 60-vote rule, stalling, blocking, and making the Senate scale back on Job Bills, putting in Amendments that no one would vote for to get legislation thrown out. After getting the facts, I cannot understand why anyone would want them to take over or part of Congress with all that they have done or to be more accurate what they have not done while supposedly representing “We the People.” We need people in Congress that will work not just for the people but allow the governing party to do just that; govern. But with comments from the likes of a Michael Steele who feels bipartisanship is overrated, that is in fact the way folks should behave in Congress when the impact of any crisis happens, it is their job to come together to make the corrections needed. If anyone out there is still undecided after 20 months of NO from the Republican Tea Party then i just do not know what to say.

I do know that the current topics of conversation by Politicians and cable heads are hot and when Congress comes back will create more conflicts among all who should be proud to represent all the people not just your state and stop behaving like children who continually have tantrums until they get their way. The American public is very tired of it and maybe it is not the way to govern but if needed i say to the left to the left

Today, my rant is about those issues like abortion, religious freedom just lying in wait until after the November elections and while some Politicians have edged over to bring up these topics those on the right who belong to the birther crowd demanding or questioning the validity of our President they are demanding people stay out of their personal lives. odd. The fact is, this do as we say not as we do Political Party has my blood boiling as the comments, complaints and vile talk about our President’s background, history and earlier behavior became major discussion on every type of media you can imagine. These same people who call themselves Republicans, Tea party and or libertarians continue to feel they are above the questions and not be held accountable, questioned or treated just like the President. These same people have accused President Obama of withholding information from the public yet they get offended when asked to provide more information please because they are running for public office. I feel their constituents deserve to know, the public and Americans deserve to know how these people will vote on issues of religion…will their beliefs dictate to how the vote and impact our constitutional rights. If you are listening and are paying attention conservatives and some conservadems are pushing the discussion of women’s rights, religion, race and gender preference up to the surface to rile their base but what has me confused is why is it mostly conservatives, mostly southern men who still have a need to control women and their bodies or healthcare needs in the year 2010. It’s bad enough that women on the Republican side mostly extreme tea party members say they are fiscal conservatives and want less government in their(our) lives yet topics like abortion, stem cell research/experiments and religious freedom have them not just flustered but their undies are in a bunch. I could not vote for a woman who feels I have no right to choose because they are pro-life because no one chooses an alternative options just because and if nothing else having a safe procedure is better than having a woman be desperate enough to take actions that would put her life at risk. It is my body and The Hyde amendment should be enough for folks on the right. I always want to scream hey, stay out of my life but here I am sounding off the alarm because they will be working on making it harder for women to have the right to choose will Congress comes back. Though we are in 21st Century the ideology is barbaric and because the old school dogma crosses the line it solidifies how elitist the comments and behavior from Republicans as of late. If you live under a Republican State or conservative ideology, which promotes a class system, that feels they want government out of their lives but not the people they represent or practices systematic discrimination or blatant hate, you should think about the impact repealing, replacing and eliminating will have on his or her own families, friend’s co-workers. The idea that some Republicans want to go back to a time when women and people of colour had no rights sounds silly but before you laugh, take some time and listen closely.

just when I thought, we were all moving into the 21st century

Get-Out-The-Vote

15 Days Until the ElectionA few hundred votes…

That’s what will separate the winner from the loser in dozens of House races on Election Day.

It’s pretty simple: Whichever party can stay on the air with hard hitting ads and has the superior ground game to get their voters to the polls is the party that will win. And, we need to make sure it’s us.

My friends at the DCCC have the most sophisticated turnout models and Get-Out-The-Vote operation I’ve ever seen. And, the plans for their air campaign are second to none. But in order to execute this plan, they’ve got to hit this $300,000 goal by tomorrow night’s Two Weeks Out deadline.

Contribute $5, $10 or more before Midnight Tomorrow. This deadline is so important that a group of committed Democrats will match every dollar you give with one of their own.

I’m looking at the polls every day. And Democratic strategists are literally making decisions where to spend money on an hourly basis. The margin of victory in many races is going to be minuscule, just like in 2008, when Democrats won 16 races by 5% of the vote or less — including one by 727 votes.

There’s a real danger the massive amount of corporate money pouring into the elections in these last weeks can tip some of these close races in favor of many of the 129 tea party wing nuts running in House races.

If they manage to get themselves elected, they’re going to try and take us back to the bad old days when Wall Street, Big Oil and Big Insurance companies were calling the shots in Congress.

Contribute $5, $10 or more before Midnight Tomorrow. This deadline is so important that a group of committed Democrats will match every dollar you give with one of their own.

In these final days, these shadowy Republican front groups are throwing everything they’ve got at our candidates. They’re literally trying to buy this election right out from under the American people.

Well, I’m not about to stand by and watch that happen. And, I need you to stand with me and rush your contribution to support our Democratic candidates right now. Contribute Now.

James Carville

P.S. I guarantee you every single vote is going to count in this election. Don’t risk waking up the day after the election with any regrets about not having done more. Help House Democrats turn out the vote. Contribute before Midnight Tomorrow. This deadline is so important that a group of committed Democrats will match every dollar you give with one of their own.

A major announcement

Jack Conway and 200 Dems -- Social Security champs

Rand Paul, the Tea Party leader running against me for Senate in Kentucky, thinks Social Security is unconstitutional. Other Republicans across the nation are also campaigning on privatization and Social Security cuts.

With a Tea Party deep on the fringe, the way for Democrats to win in 2010 is to have a spine — and go on offense.

That’s why today, I am proud to announce with my friends at the Progressive Change Campaign Committee that over 200 congressional candidates and members of Congress are promising to oppose any cuts to Social Security.

We’re saying no privatization, no raising the retirement age, no messing with the best program for seniors and workers in American history — and no mincing words about it.

Can you show your support for Democrats who stand on principle and go “on offense” by signing a statement of support for today’s big move by 200 candidates? Click here.

We’ll make sure the political insiders and the media take notice of where the grassroots want Democratic leaders to be.

The PCCC has done a great job working with me and other Democratic candidates to go on offense on Social Security — and I’ve been taking the Social Security fight directly to Rand Paul in debates, speeches, and media events.

The 200 others include:

  • Senate candidates Scott McAdams (AK), Roxanne Conlin (IA), Lee Fisher (OH), Alexi Giannoulias (IL), Kendrick Meek (FL), Paul Hodes (NH), Elaine Marshall (NC), and others
  • House candidates Ann McLane Kuster (NH), Joe Garcia (FL), Bill Hedrick (CA), Rob Miller (SC), Julia Lassa (WI), Manan Trivedi (PA), Ed Potosnak (NJ), Michael Oliverio (WV), and others
  • Members of Congress Raul Grijalva (AZ), Mary Jo Kilroy (OH), Alan Grayson (FL), Michael Acuri (NY), Carol Shea-Porter (NH), Ed Potosnak (NJ), Bill Owens (NY), John Boccieri (OH), and others
  • The full list is at SocialSecurityProtectors.com

As Rachel Maddow would say, “This is what it looks like when Democrats go on offense.”

Can you support Democrats who stand on principle and go “on offense” by signing a statement of support for today’s big move by 200 candidates? Click here.

Then, please pass this email to your friends who want bold Democrats. Thanks for being a bold progressive.

mindful Monday &some News

President and Mrs. Obama are hosting a Science Fair

Today.  I have been hearing more BS than ever from “the Media”  which is sad …people need to stop listening to the cable noise, the radio and get the facts -media opinion news is just that -an opinion!!- The Democratic and or President’s message that they speak of was not just held up by Republicans but cable and or mainstream tv that feature politics have held up the message  as well choosing to move more right of center each and every day as the Midterm elections come closer. I blame Republicans of course but the fact is”the Media” has to take some responsibility for their lack of getting any sort of fair and or balanced News from the Democratic Party out to the people wondering just what is the truth behind any story getting airtime. It is obvious that some people unfortunately believe the panel, guests or so-called experts who talk about an issue or a politician but ask yourself why don’t they just have the subject of discussion on for a rebuttal -that would be too easy right

I received and appreciate all the comments on the articles posted here. This week two articles got several responses but one person responded to two of them; one article was about Saving the Country, Murdoch style by MMA and the other was a response to one that came from Senator Barney Franck directly. My responses to both articles are below with some adjustments.

The first Comment was in response to Senator Barney Frank

(1)Well isn’t Barny the guy who said,  “it’s okay to have buddies with money”?  I guess he must of meant it was only okay if they were democrats.  So much for tolerance, eh?

Senator Frank is a politician and anyone with any sense knows that the fight is on to keep their seats in Congress and in doing so that not only means great campaigning, politicking or having the preferred ideology but money. If money meant nothing people would not be backing Angle, Fiorina, Whitman, Brewer, Palin or Christine O’Donnell because none of these embarrassing women are qualified to hold public office. I have no idea what you are asking me when you say – tolerance. The fact is people with or without money can be offensive.

Comment(2)

Tell me something, did you mind when Murdoch supported Hillary not so long ago? http://civillibertarian.blogspot.com/2006/05/rupert-murdoch-backs-hillary-clinton.html Do you have a problem …

Actually, my personal comments and or complaints when reading articles are about what I read first. I honestly do not care what side of the aisle the writer, journalist, cable and or mainstream view given to us by them is even though I am a democrat; I call them as i see them and when one side decides to push the envelope too far for me i respond… ah the wonders and need to tweet, FB or blog …and your comments about liberals having all the cable, major newspapers, magazines and whatnot …i know you are joking right? if you listen folks like Murdoch give to both sides of the issue and when one side becomes more of a commodity and gets more airtime he feeds it…everyone knows that -right? Again, people like him do not care just like the NRA they support 58 democrats as well as a whole lot of Republicans. What i do object to are the lies coming from Fox News the race baiting this station engages in …even CNN has moved right and that rhetoric though has 1st amendment on its side is offensive. As a person of colour and as a mom hearing Glenn beck send subliminal nonsense out into the airwaves with actual people choosing wrong instead of right -and people get hurt or worse …that is my prob. My sense of democracy means total cooperation from both sides of an economic collapse yet RTP has decided oh we will take all the money you’re handing out but we will vote no or scale it down as well as throw our own constituents under the bus to regain power -that is not democracy.

FORECAST: Right-wing money to rain on Mass – severe flooding expected

Barney Frank for Congress 2010

Today, the Washington Post reported that “the final two weeks of the campaign will not be for the faint of heart.  A torrent of money, much of it from outside groups whose donors are not disclosed, will rain down on states and congressional districts, disproportionately for Republican candidates. The money will underwrite a barrage of ads, almost all of them wholly negative and highly personal.”

The congressional district I represent will not escape this gloomy forecast of right-wing “rain.”  Yesterday, a shadowy political organization based in Nevada announced that it will spend approximately $200,000 to defeat me and one of my Democratic colleagues in Massachusetts.  Last week, the Tea Party Express announced that I would be one of their top targets in the entire country.  Can outside right-wing organizations rain enough money on Massachusetts to alter the outcome of an election?  Sadly, they can.

You can help me fight this dark, threatening storm which threatens free elections.

The right is not only trying to defeat me personally; it wants to undermine many of the things I have spent my career fighting for.  It would like to roll back a new law to prevent abusive practices by credit card companies, eliminate safeguards against predatory lending, revoke new regulations on risky practices by large financial firms, block new rules on executive compensation, privatize Social Security, prevent reductions in excessive military spending, and restrict a woman’s right to choose.

Please help me ride out this storm so I can continue to fight for the things we care about most.  I will be grateful for your help.
Barney Frank
