Watch Our New Video: Will You Get the Life-Saving Care You Need?

Do you think our nation’s leaders would allow a hospital to refuse to perform an emergency abortion on a woman — even if it means she would die? Unfortunately, if some leaders have their way, the answer would be yes. The House of Representatives actually passed a bill that would allow hospitals to turn away women needing emergency abortion care. This bill is just one example of the recent onslaught of attacks at both the federal and state level that aim to deny women’s access to reproductive health care.

Getting the emergency care a woman needs should not depend on the hospital to which she is taken.

From this bill and others on the spring agenda of the U.S. House of Representatives, to state bills that would mandate transvaginal ultrasounds for women seeking abortion care or that would shut down provider clinics, anti-choice lawmakers continue to take aim at women’s health care at every level. We can’t stand by and wait to see what their next attack brings — watch our new video and tell your leaders to stop the attacks on women’s reproductive health care by saying: My Health is NOT Up for Debate™!

Thank you for continuing to stand up for women’s health.

Sincerely,

Judy Waxman Vice President for Health and Reproductive Rights National Women’s Law Center

The War on Women Continues …a message from Nancy Pelosi

Yesterday, House Republicans mounted another extreme attack to undermine and restrict a woman’s access to reproductive health care.

Instead of creating jobs, improving our economy and strengthening small businesses, for the seventh time this year Republicans voted on a bill that assaults women’s health care.

We cannot sit silent in the face of House Republicans’ extremist agenda against women. We must act now to stop it.

Help us raise $100,000 for the DCCC Women’s Health Rapid Response Fund so we can hold the Republicans accountable.

Please make an urgent contribution of $3 or more to the DCCC’s Women’s Health Rapid Response Fund. Your generous support will send a powerful show of grassroots strength against the Republicans’ extreme agenda.

House Republicans are pursuing the most comprehensive and radical assault on women’s health and reproductive freedom in our lifetime. They should be working to help put Americans back to work, not waging an outrageous war against women and their private health decisions.

Let us never allow the health of American women to come under attack.

Birth Control: We’ve Got You Covered … Judy Waxman, National Women’s Law Center

Couples who want to delay having another child because of uncertain economic times need to be covered. College students who decide to go to graduate school before starting families need to be covered. Millions of women in the United States trying to prevent an unintended pregnancy need to be covered.

It’s time to move women’s health forward, and for us to say — we’ve got you covered. Join the effort to make prescription birth control available in new health plans without a co-pay.

For many years, the National Women’s Law Center has been working to get contraception covered in all health insurance plans. Thanks to your support of our efforts on the health care law, we are finally within reach of achieving this critical goal for women. In the next several months, the Department of Health and Human Services will decide which preventive services should be covered by new health insurance plans without a co-pay or other out-of-pocket costs, and we need you to join this effort to make prescription birth control available in all new health plans without a co-pay.

Women need access to birth control to prevent unintended pregnancies, plan the size of their families, and protect their health. Be part of the effort! Sign our petition and be part of the effort to make prescription birth control more affordable and accessible to all women.  http://www.nwlc.org/action/petition-birth-control-weve-got-you-covered    <<< Petition

Republicans continue to choose -Anti-Choice Legislation

Last night House Republicans voted in favor of an appalling piece of anti-choice legislation that could force victims or rape and incest to relive their trauma during an IRS audit and deny millions of American women access to life-saving reproductive health care.

Their assault on women has nothing to do with saving money and everything to do with forcing extremist beliefs into the tax code of the United States of America.

And they didn’t stop there. They used the occasion to sneak in a provision restricting the definition of rape to deny victims access to reproductive health care — even after they claimed to have removed the language in the face of overwhelming public opposition.

We must take immediate, decisive action against this attack on women’s health and reproductive freedom.

Help us hold House Republicans accountable: Contribute $3 or more right now so we can get hard-hitting Rapid Response ads up holding Republican extremists in Congress accountable for their radical assault on women’s health care and reproductive freedom.

Republicans’ H.R. 3 bill would drastically restrict women’s options for reproductive services by imposing burdensome new regulations on public and private insurance coverage. If made law, women would be denied using money from their personal health savings accounts to pay for abortion services.

I know how important it is for all women to have access to reproductive health care and it is unconscionable that one party would hold women’s health hostage and use the tax code as a moral club to force their religious beliefs on every American.

We are just $27,215 short of our emergency Rapid Response goal of $100,000 by Midnight Tonight to fight this Republican extremism.
