Never forget the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf.

Greenpeace says   … the White House and BP have been hiding the truth about the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf.
The (horrible) picture below is of a “critically endangered” Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle. It’s just one of many never-before-seen images we’ve obtained that paints a very different picture than what we were being told at the time. We have to act.

Demand the Truth. Take Action!

Other pictures show garbage bags full of dead sea turtles, a dolphin struggling to hold on for life in the poisoned water and sperm whales swimming through a sheen of oil. What else about the Gulf disaster is the White House and Big Oil hiding from the public before they finish the settlement?
It’s not too late. The government has yet to announce the amount of money BP owes for the damages caused by the disaster.
Take action and demand that the White House immediately make publicly available all the images, files and documentation before they reach a settlement with BP.

It’s important that the public know exactly what BP is being held accountable for and that the White House is holding the oil giant to it in the settlement.
President Obama likes to talk about how much land and coastal area his administration has opened up for drilling. The administration has even given oil giant Shell the green light to drill for oil in the pristine waters off the coast of Alaska this summer. Is this damage the risk that the administration finds acceptable with offshore drilling?

Tell the White House to publicly release everything they have around the Gulf disaster, make BP pay what they owe and put a stop to ALL new offshore drilling right now.

P.S. Send the White House a message and then forward this to your friends and family. We have to expose the truth about the BP disaster in the Gulf if we want to stop offshore drilling.

HILARIOUS “12 Days of Congress”

Do you have 44 seconds to spare?

You HAVE to watch this hilarious, holiday-themed takedown of what Republicans have been up to this year.

We’ve been watching it all day in the office and trust us — you’re
going to want to pass this one along to your friends who don’t mind a
good swipe at the Tea Party.

out our “12 Days of Congress” site where you can download the song
(featuring Bowzer from Sha Na Na) for free and put in on your holiday
mix. You can even get it as a ringtone!

From Big Oil subsidies to bonuses for bigwigs, the GOP has stuffed some
extra special goodies in the stockings of corporations and the
ultra-wealthy this year, while giving the rest of us a lump of coal. And
don’t get us started on Republicans’ idea of outreach to women.

The Climate Reality Project

The Climate Reality Project

Deniers claim there’s no scientific consensus on climate change. They claim man-made global warming is a hoax. They blame volcanoes and sunspots. Deniers are the roadblocks to real progress — and we need to do something about it.

So today, we’re asking for your help.

Congress is back in session this month. And some of these very decision makers heading back to Washington this month are still in denial.

If it’s anything like we’ve been seeing lately, it’s likely that any legislative progress will continue to be stalled … especially progress towards a solution that puts a price on carbon pollution.

Look, you and I know the scientific consensus on climate change is abundantly clear — in fact — 97 percent of all climate scientists will tell you human activities are causing our atmosphere to heat up. And this fundamental change in our climate is having devastating effects across the globe.

That’s why we’re asking you to help set the record straight with a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. Last month, you helped us put the heat on climate change deniers by debunking myths through Reality Drop and social media. Today, we hope you’ll take your dedication to a different media — your local paper.

Writing a letter to the editor is quick, easy, and best of all, extremely effective. We’ve even got you started with some base language. Feel free to use as much or as little as you want. Click here for step-by-step instructions and a bank of denier quotes to help drive your point home.

Climate change is happening. You know it. We know it. Get your message into your local newspaper, and even more people will know the truth about climate change.

Thanks for your continued activism,

Al Gore has a message for us all !

The Climate Reality Project

Destructive sea-level rise. Devastating storms. Collapsing fisheries. Rising asthma rates.

This is just a short list of what continuing climate change could mean for all of us.

But deniers still seem to ignore the problem. They say: “So what if there’s a little climate change? What’s wrong with a couple extra days at the beach?”

That’s a red-hot lie that you can remedy with a cold dose of truth. The list of what’s wrong here is long … and it’s growing every day. That’s why this week, we’re turning the heat up on the anti-science deniers who claim, “It’s not that bad.”

The “It’s Not Bad” myth is one of the most dangerous misconceptions in the denier repertoire. Because the truth is this:

  • Rising seas are already damaging homes and businesses near the water.
  • The quality of the air we breathe is getting worse and threatening our health.
  • Oceans are becoming more acidic, putting fisheries and the ocean’s — and the world’s — food chain at risk.
  • Many scientists believe that climate change will encourage the expansion of disease-bearing pests into new areas.

And that’s just naming a few.

From Alaska to Zimbabwe, wherever we live, climate change poses serious risks to our everyday lives … as well as the lives of our loved ones. But Big Oil, Big Coal, and the deniers living in their pockets are trying to mask the problem. They continue to claim that climate change isn’t a bad thing … if it’s happening at all.

We’re counting on your help today to destroy another climate change mega-myth: the “It’s Not Bad” myth. Use the facts on RealityDrop.org and help set the record straight: climate change is extremely dangerous. But when we take action together, we can change the course of our future.

Thanks for all your hard work, The Climate Reality Team

P.S. Use Twitter to help us reach our goal of sharing the truth 50,000 times on key articles across the net by using the hash tag #HeatOnDenial.

We don’t usually send you emails on the weekend, but we just wanted to share with you this great interview that our founder, Al Gore, had with popular Washington Post columnist Ezra Klein earlier this week.

Mr. Gore explains why he’s so optimistic about stopping global warming. And as one of our closest friends, we thought the interview would give you some great talking points … and a whole lot of hope. It certainly has for us.

Click here to read the interview. Please make sure to spread it far and wide — on Facebook, Twitter, or if you don’t use either of those social media outlets, simply forward this email to a friend.

We continue to face many challenges, and as Mr. Gore makes clear, we still have a long road ahead of us to solve climate change once and for all. But together we’re making real progress, and the tide is starting to turn in our favor, both culturally and politically. And that’s reason to be hopeful.

The Climate Reality Team

P.S. Make sure you read through to the end of the interview — in the last question Mr. Gore talks about winning the conversation… which is exactly what you are helping us accomplish every day with your dedicated support for Climate Reality.

It’s Us Alright

The Climate Reality Project Can you feel the heat? We sure can.

And while temperatures rise, big corporations and Congress continue to claim, “It’s not us — it’s natural,” when you and I both know they’re repeating lies coming straight from Big Oil and Big Coal.

“It’s not us” is another abominable myth about climate change… and we need your voice to help destroy this myth today. Let’s crank up the heat on climate change deniers.

Deniers love to say: “Okay, climate change is happening. But it has natural causes, and humans have nothing to do with it.”

Just ask 97 percent of climate scientists: Man-made carbon pollution is the cause of global warming. The consensus is overwhelming.

Yet somehow, deniers just keep rehashing these same old myths and the news media keeps repeating them — confusing the public when people like you and I know the truth is cut and dry.

That’s why this week, in response to Organizing for Action‘s efforts to keep the climate change conversation top-of-mind, we’re putting the #HeatOnDenial by making anti-science deniers sweat. Together with our friends at Organizing For America, we can raise the temperature of this hot topic.

So take a moment, head to our Reality Drop application, and help destroy the “It’s Not Us” myth –– and together we’ll be one step closer to solving the climate crisis.

Thanks for your continued dedication,
The Climate Reality Team
