When you give now, every $ will be matched by Democratic Senators

Republicans steamrolled into the House with empty promises of economic renewal. But instead they’ve chosen Big Oil over Medicare, health care companies over women’s rights, the rich over the middle class.

We’ve been able to stop them with our Democratic majority in the Senate. But if they capture just four of the 23 Democratic seats up for grabs in 2012, anything they dream up will sail through Congress while no progressive ideas survive.

Two years ago, we averted that nightmare scenario. We can do it again now, but only if Democrats pull together and rise up to make a difference. Please give whatever you can to the DSCC today and help them raise $683,000 by their crucial June 30 end-of-quarter deadline. Democratic senators will match every dollar you give, because falling short of this goal could mean the Senate slips from our grasp.

The GOP is playing politics with serious issues. One day they’re threatening to shut down the government, putting people out of work and delaying benefits seniors and veterans depend upon. The next, they’re willing to let the economy go into default while spending billions of tax dollars on Big Oil subsidies.

As they perform these political stunts, Republicans seem to have no problem turning a blind eye to the struggles of hardworking Americans, pressing forward with a reckless budget that so clearly hurts working families who struggle to survive from paycheck to paycheck.

So how can they possibly win? The GOP is a master of the old bait and switch. They did it in 2010, and they’ll surely try it in 2012. So it’s up to us to make sure they don’t get away with it.

Give now to the DSCC so we can fight for our Democratic majority in the Senate. Republicans will have 23 opportunities to take away four of our seats next year, so we’ve got to start working now to protect our senators who are up for re-election and support our great Democratic challengers.

There’s no question about it—the math is daunting. We’ve got 23 seats up for grabs; they’ve got only 10. All they need to do is grab four to win the Senate. But if we do everything we can right now, I know we can win.

                                Sincerely,

Going over the numbers at my desk, and here’s the situation— we’re about $14,000 short of our May goal with about 6 hours until the FEC deadline. Below is a screenshot of where we’re at. If everyone kicks in $5 we’ll hit the goal, can you help out?

If we make it, that means we go full throttle after the Republicans who voted to destroy Medicare. And believe me, our plan is to put every single one of them out of work.  But we need the funds to do it.

Can you help us out before midnight?

Thanks,
Jason

a word from …Nancy Pelosi Democratic Leader

Tonight’s FEC deadline is our first big test since our big win in New York’s 26th district.

The media and pundits will use our totals tonight as a signal of our will to hold Republicans accountable nationwide for their extremist stance of ending Medicare — just as we did in NY-26.

As we enter the final hours, we remain just $21,914 shy of our $250,000 grassroots goal. A contribution today can be put to work immediately towards our rapid response efforts this summer including mobilizing volunteers, targeted advertising and yard signs.

Please contribute $3 or more before tonight’s Midnight Deadline so we may continue holding Republicans accountable for voting to end Medicare for seniors while giving tax cuts to Big Oil companies and the ultra rich.

Republicans and their shadowy special interest groups went all in and spent a breathtaking $3.4 million to try to hold a seat in this heavily Republican district. It’s a sign of things to come: This is going to be one of the most costly election cycles ever. We know we have the right ideas on our side, but this special election proved that we also must have the resources we need to hold Republicans accountable and push back against their misleading right-wing attacks.

With the world watching, now is our opportunity to show that Americans are united against the GOP plan to end Medicare and grassroots Democrats are as strong as ever. But we must raise $21,914 more by Midnight Tonight.

It’s a dead heat. In a race that is already dealing a major blow to Speaker Boehner and House Republicans’ extreme agenda to end Medicare, all the polls show that Democrat Kathy Hochul is charging into the lead in the New York special election.

Now, shadowy, right-wing special interest groups are dumping money into this deep-red district to avoid a shocking defeat. We can’t let the right-wing control the airwaves in the critical closing days of this election.

Make no mistake: it’s because of your hard work fighting against the Republicans’ plan to end Medicare as we know it, that this deep-red district is now competitive.

The fact that we now have polls showing Democrat Kathy Hochul narrowly leading shows what a huge liability ending Medicare and protecting Big Oil has become for Republicans. Even Speaker Boehner himself was forced to rush up this weekend for an event to try and bail the Republican out. Now they’ve called in Karl Rove and his shadowy swift-boat group to dump in hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Help us fight back against right-wing special interest attacks — Check out our new TV ad in the New York special election and contribute $3 or more to the DCCC today.

Don’t get me wrong, this is an uphill battle. This is a district that Carl Paladino, George Bush, and John McCain won despite losing big in the rest of New York. But we know that we have to go on offense to take back the majority and take the fight into their turf, even when it’s an uphill battle.

We owe it to ourselves to fight this fight and send a message loud and clear that Republicans completely overstepped on Medicare and are losing the independent voters and seniors who voted them into office last year. I hope you’ll join us in this fight. Contribute to the DCCC today >> http://www.dccc.org/page/m/1d63ca8d/1b9dd8ab/4ab9cecb/4e0ce9ca/3694608018/VEsC/

288 reasons to fight

First they tried to shut down the government to defund women’s health.

Then two weeks ago they passed a budget that demolishes Medicare.

And all the while, GOP leaders in both houses are still pushing to give more huge tax cuts to big corporations that ship American jobs overseas — including handouts to Big Oil even before the first anniversary of BP’s Gulf Coast disaster.

There are reasons we need to keep fighting. In fact, 288 Republican members of the House and Senate mean we have 288 reasons. And if we aren’t strong enough or committed enough to stop their agenda, we will lose our country as we know it.

Your support is crucial as we challenge the Republican Party for the future of our nation. Help us fight their agenda by contributing $10, $20, $35, or more right now.

My biggest focus as I lead the Senate majority is helping families across the country weather this recession. There still are obstacles. College costs are rising faster than paychecks, too many Nevadans are still out of work, and not even our veterans are immune to falling on hard times — and just one homeless veteran is one too many.

These challenges tell us that we must do better. But we can’t reach the kind of success America is known for so long as Republicans in the House and Senate continue to line the pockets of their corporate buddies while letting their Tea Party wing lead an agenda of partisan wedge issues.

Our opposition is strong. There are 288 of them. They’re well-financed, and they have the resources to wreak havoc on our nation’s future if we don’t succeed in stopping them.

I know there’s still fight left in us. Chip in $10 today because there are 288 reasons we can’t stop standing up for what we know is important.

Thanks for everything,

Harry Reid
