NEW CHARLESTON POLL: Americans Want #ActionNotWords
While some Republican candidates are demonstrating a real profile in courage by obscuring their positions on the Confederate flag, America has made up its mind. A Public Policy Polling survey commissioned for the Center for American Progress Action Fund released this morning finds that a large majority of Americans want to remove the Confederate flag from government buildings like the South Carolina state capitol grounds. Additionally, the nation wants action, not words, when it comes to preventing gun violence in our communities. The new poll finds that nine in ten Americans support criminal background checks for all gun sales, and three-quarters believe places of worship have the right to bar people from carrying guns on their property. As of April 29, 2015, survivors of domestic violence may apply for health insurance through healthcare.gov at ANY TIME. They do not need to wait for Open Enrollment. They qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) because they are survivors of domestic violence.
This important policy was released on May 6, 2015 by the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) in their weekly “assister newsletter” that gives guidance on ACA enrollment to Navigators and in-person assisters. This is formal CCIIO guidance—but the language has not yet been updated on healthcare.gov. The update should happen soon—but the policy is already in place.
