PITTSBURGH – Giant Eagle, Inc. has issued a voluntarily recall of multiple bakery items containing peanut butter sold at three Pennsylvania supermarkets in Ebensburg, Indiana and Northern Cambria due to potential salmonella contamination. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
The impacted bakery products were sold in clam shell packaging, have sell by dates through May 28, 2022 and can be identified by the following 11 PLU numbers:

The recalled items were sold in the bakery departments of the three Giant Eagle stores only and most guests who have purchased the impacted product have already been contacted directly. The recalled items were sold in 120 transactions total. There have been no reports of illness associated with this recall to date.
Giant Eagle was made aware of the issue during the retailer’s investigation into the recently announced nationwide Jif brand peanut butter recall from the J.M Smucker Company. The peanut butter included in the recalled bakery items is included in the Jif peanut butter recall.
Guests who have purchased the affected product should dispose of it or return a qualifying receipt to the local Giant Eagle store for a refund. Guests with questions may call Giant Eagle Customer Care at 1-800-553-2324 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST.
In addition to this public communication regarding this recall, Giant Eagle initiated its consumer recall telephone notification process. ** Freshpet Inc. is announcing a voluntary recall of a single lot of Freshpet Select Fresh From the Kitchen Home Cooked Chicken Recipe (4.5 lb. bag), with sell by date of 10/29/22, due to potential contamination with Salmonella.
Salmonella can affect animals eating the product and there is risk to humans, notably children, the elderly, and the immunocompromised, when handling contaminated products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or surfaces exposed to these products.
Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever. Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare provider.
Dogs with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some dogs will have only decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. ** June 23, 2022, Daily Harvest, Inc., New York, NY. Daily Harvest has voluntarily recalled all French Lentil + Leek Crumbles due to consumer reports of gastrointestinal illness and potential liver function issues.
From April 28 to June 17, 2022, approximately 28,000 units of the recalled product were distributed to consumers in the continental United States through online sales and direct delivery, as well as through retail sales at the Daily Harvest store in Chicago, IL and a “pop-up” store in Los Angeles, CA. Samples were also provided to a small number of consumers. Daily Harvest directly notified by email those consumers who were shipped the affected product, and other consumers for whom the company had contact information, and consumers were issued a credit for the recalled product.
Consumers who may still have the recalled product in their freezers should immediately dispose of it.
French Lentil + Leek Crumbles is a frozen product packaged in a 12oz white pouch with the words “Daily Harvest” at the top, a large “CRUMBLES” immediately below the top and the words “French Lentil + Leek” in bold, as shown below. In non-immunocompromised patients, the population most likely to use the product, the use of the defective product may result in infectious complications, for instance bacteremia or noninvasive fungal rhinosinusitis, but in this population the infections are expected to be less severe and more readily responsive to treatment. Hepatitis A is a contagious virus that can cause liver disease. A Hepatitis A virus (HAV) infection can range in severity from a mild illness lasting a few weeks to a severe illness lasting several months. In rare cases, particularly consumers who have a pre-existing severe illness or are immune compromised, Hepatitis A infections can progress to liver failure. Illness usually occurs within 15 to 50 days after eating or drinking contaminated food or water. Symptoms of Hepatitis A infection include fever, headache, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, jaundice, dark urine or pale stool. In some instances, particularly in children under the age of six, Hepatitis A infection may be asymptomatic.

Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

| TOPIC: Ukoniq (umbralisib): Drug Safety Communication – FDA Approval of Lymphoma Medicine is Withdrawn Due to Safety Concerns AUDIENCE: Oncology, Patient, Health Professional, Pharmacy ISSUE: Due to safety concerns, the FDA has withdrawn its approval for the cancer medicine Ukoniq (umbralisib). Updated findings from the UNITY-CLL clinical trial continued to show a possible increased risk of death in patients receiving Ukoniq. As a result, the FDA determined the risks of treatment with Ukoniq outweigh its benefits. Based upon this determination, the drug’s manufacturer, TG Therapeutics, announced it was voluntarily withdrawing Ukoniq from the market for the approved uses in marginal zone lymphoma and follicular lymphoma. BACKGROUND: Ukoniq was approved to treat two specific types of lymphoma: marginal zone lymphoma and follicular lymphoma. RECOMMENDATIONS: Health care professionals should stop prescribing Ukoniq and switch patients to alternative treatments. Inform patients currently taking Ukoniq of the increased risk of death seen in the clinical trial and advise them to stop taking the medicine. In limited circumstances in which a patient may be receiving benefit from Ukoniq, TG Therapeutics plans to make it available under expanded access. ** Rocky Hill, CT — Henkel Corporation (“Henkel”) is voluntarily recalling 180 bottles of its 4.2 ounce Alterna Bond Repair Leave-in Heat Protection Spray, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Burkholderia cepacia complex (Bcc), which poses little medical risk to healthy people, but can cause an increased risk for illness or infection in people who have certain health problems, such as weakened immune systems, chronic lung diseases, chronic granulomatous disease, or wound infections. Patients with underlying lung disease (especially cystic fibrosis) might be at increased risk for severe infections with Bcc.
The potential for product contamination was noted after testing performed by Henkel revealed the presence of Bcc in some 4.2 ounce bottles of Alterna Bond Repair Leave-in Heat Protection Spray.
While Henkel has received no reports of harm or injury in connection with this product, the company is proactively recalling the product. If you have experienced any symptoms, or have any medical questions associated with this recall, please consult your physician immediately.

** Albanese Confectionery Group, Inc. of Merrillville, Indiana is voluntarily recalling Albanese® Mini and Giant Peanut Butter Cups because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
This recall is a direct result of the J.M. Smucker Co. Jif® Peanut Butter recall. This product was not manufactured onsite at Albanese Confectionery Group, Inc. No illnesses have been reported to date.
The products were distributed nationwide and reached consumers through select retail stores. The products are sold in bulk bins unpackaged.
