just another rant …

I saw a story and video on a website called rawstory re: rep. Waters comments about President Obama to what looks like a small group of people looking to do something negative with an on camera performance. The first question I thought of is why the Democratic Party always seems to sabotage ourselves when in the majority let alone when we are not and in serious need of acting as a cohesive Political Party ready to defeat the extreme conservative right. What we all saw in 2009 was a group of lefties worried about election2010 while trying to control the message and lawmaking instead of governing with the Democratic President. I get it, the Democratic tent is huge, and so are the degrees of how left we all lean but contrary to how some not all act in this Party of and for the People. I did not vote for President Puppet and leader only when convenient as some progressive representatives seem to want. I am no expert nor do i have Political influence but having watched the Waters video repeatedly on msm at some point; it occurred to me that it looked staged for the media, which was beyond disappointing. I am still wondering … why blame President Obama for what members of Congress are supposed to do and while some folks still have that do as we say not as we do mentality that behavior has no place on the Hill especially when it is beyond critical to circle the wagons. I voted for change in 2008 and in 2012 I am hoping for a change in Congress willing to work for ALL Americans and President Obama or be kicked to the curb. The video is below …

California Rep. calls on the Black community to pressure Obama

With all due respect, to Rep. Waters; Black unemployment has been in the double digits for years. The question for me as well as some folks i know is should Rep.Waters, the CBC, and other African American members of Congress take a huge amount of responsibility for the lack of progress for Black Unemployment over the last few years. I wish people would ask Rep.Waters what she and the CBC have done for the last few years to fight for jobs to lower the ever present high unemployment numbers for minorities. I want to make sure folks know I went to the CBC website and while there seems to be a lot of things going on doing stuff the truth is unemployment numbers for people of colour have not changed that much over the last few years.  Yes, Teapublicans in Congress have made this effort to help People of Colour practically an impossibility. The notion that a Black President in the White House is the remedy to years of discrimination or the cause of current problems or that President Obama’s supposed lack of effort to make direct moves to change the status or plight of just African Americans is not only offensive it sounds slightly ignorant. To play the race card is just wrong but then that is just me. We all have our opinions. I get it though, we are not only in class warfare; the middle class is fighting for the rights of women, children and minorities of all kinds. If you stop to think, but not too long the conservative right looks to be on the wrong side of History on so many issues affecting their fellow Americans.  There are reports and rumors that most in the CBC wanted and supported Hillary Clinton in 2008 but her campaign was terrible, she said some questionable racial things and was maybe still is a hawk. I get it folks have opinions about Obama but we do not have Kings… Congress is responsible for creating and making laws… Call your member of Congress – ask them how and who they are voting for

Americans need a Congress willing to work for everyone … for Economic Inequality hell Equality on so many levels –

just another rant

Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that the Supreme Court will hear the HCR Affordable Health Care Law during the Presidential Election Campaign2012. The Supreme Court will have the responsibility of deciding if HCR merits or meets the constitutionality rules policies and procedures under what we all hope to be based on the favorable outcomes from the lower courts, compassion of what the new law will provide, healthy debate yet unbiased opinions with a strong use of the facts . Unfortunately, the big news is not that more people have an opportunity to be covered, people under 26 can be covered under parents insurance, or that the awful rule about pre-conditions will be no more least we forget HCR is also a JOBs bill. The fact that HCR enrollment will increase by 30million, which is a whole lot more people to serve and all those who do, will be cashing in as well as employing many more Americans. The fact is more Teapublicans, which includes Washington State’s AG McKenna; who happens to be running for Governor other current Governors some in the midst of recall efforts and Teapublican leaders of Congress are still challenging HCR. Though reports and or polls from MSM state most Americans do not want HCR they, if given the details of HCR like it.  The poeple in Massachuetts did not like their Universal Health Care at first but after awhile 80% did and do not want to repeals theirs.  The fact is …the law is so similar to the Massachusetts because then Governor Romney‘s staff helped formulate it. While Romney and his fellow Teapublicans keep stating they want to repeal health care reform even after three years of debate, stalling, and refusal to cooperate; the hcr Bill passed and is the new law of the land. It is not lost on most … well, now anyway, that Teapublicans will do and say just about anything to set themselves apart from the President of the US; even as offensive as it is they continue to push forward on the McConnell mission which is to make President Obama a one term President. I have to say as a voter the first Mission is to get America back on track though McConnell has tunnel vision gotta hope it all backfires with a sudden burst of Sanity Please just like in 2008 when we all faced the idea of a Palin/McCain in the White House. The current group of Teapublicans running for President of the US of A are far from being qualified almost amusing though scary considering what they say they have to offer. If you have been watching and or listening to the crap coming from Teapublican lawmakers in Congress it is obvious Party and Profit over People is a pledge they took and little room for compromise. The facts regarding HCR have been twisted turned and avoided by most Teapublicans and unfortunately, some of my fellow Americans believe the noise coming from the right, frankly, Teapublicans would rather fight moving into the 21st Century while attempting to bring the President down than help others and our economy by bringing down the cost of health care/insurance. The problem we have was not created by the current President yet these Corporatists are still trying to convince their supporters that big government equals the sitting President. It is with great sadness that there are so many of our fellow Americans drinking the kook-aid because the best example of big government was during the house of Bush and the lack of regulation which really means the people hired to do their jobs …did not. The economy slipped into a ditch created by the spending that Bush did and if anyone is willing to listen… the facts the truth is a close as your nose. Then President43 did not pay for the 2wars President Obama has to draw down or those bush tax bonus $$ and left an incredible deficit hole that has yet to be fixed; while it is true that the solution was to throw money at it and most economists believe it had to be done. There was not only a problem with how much money to throw but like all legislation on the Hill since President Obama took office and most if not all efforts were blocked, changed, scaled down or nasty amendments attached to great bills that no one could vote for in good consciousness. The idea that we keep the status quo is to say nothing needs to be changed but what better time is it than now to improve upon a system that has long been broken. If not now when and what better group than Democrats to fix the problems… because Republicans are proving on a daily basis that not only are they fiscally irresponsible they also practice overt class warfare, exclusion and some might say the current words are laced with hate and or racism …

Jim Messina: One Million Person-to-Person Conversations – Obama For America

Something special happened in Colorado a few days ago: One of our volunteers called up an ’08 supporter in Denver, and they had the millionth conversation of this campaign.

The person on the other end of the line had never volunteered before. But as a result of this call, he decided to attend an event in his area to connect with other volunteers in his community. Over the next 12 months, he could start dozens, maybe hundreds, more one-on-one conversations with voters. And they’ll start conversations of their own.

That will all have started with this one conversation. This is how we build this campaign.

Messina recorded a message reporting back on what this means, and why our opponents won’t have this kind of grassroots enthusiasm. You’re going to want to take a look at this one.

While we are all excited about this 1 million milestone, right now, we’re training our eyes on the next million conversations.

Some of these conversations will be with supporters who have always believed in the President. Others might be with folks who haven’t engaged with us for a while. It’s on all of us to reach out to these people — and you don’t have to wait for a phone bank or a canvass to do it. You can start making calls right now.

When I think about 1 million conversations, I can’t help but think back to March 2007, when I began organizing for then-Senator Obama’s campaign.

Back then, a lot of people seemed to think that winning a presidential campaign always came down to big-dollar donations and big-name endorsements, period. They counted out our style of grassroots organizing — said it wouldn’t get people to the polls.

We didn’t listen to them. We built our organization person by person, one conversation at a time — and that strategy didn’t just get us votes. It was how we won in key states around the country, and how we elected this president.

We’ve got to do that again. Because this time around, the stakes are even higher, and there are still just as many folks on the other side who don’t believe in grassroots organizing. They’re counting you out right now. They think you can’t — or won’t — take individual action to help build this organization.

You can start proving them wrong with the conversations you’re about to have.

Watch Messina’s message, then commit to volunteer in the months ahead, and start some conversations of your own:

Thanks for everything you’ve done — and everything you’re about to do.

just another rant …

Fall back y’all and we did.

The President and Mrs. Obama are at the APEC summit in Hawaii. The rest of us have to hear the continuous drone from Teapublicans who still think Americans want repeal HCR, Wall Street reform, cut Education by 20%, replace and eliminate social service programs that women, vets, older folks and the new poor use. I have to say Teapublicans in Congress must have taken a Pledge to wear earplugs in order to get through all their just say not campaign. Suffice it to say if these Teapublicans continue to go after the Middle Class Social Security Medicare/caid instead of JOBS it would definitely seem to be a recipe for trouble and likely force the USA into a double dip or deeper recession and will be the reason they will become unemployed; hopefully. I happen to think we went right into a depression what with losing 750 thousand jobs a month even before President Obama took office. The current rhetoric has absolutely nothing to do with JOBS or the Economy …If people are listening they have no intention of helping Americans unless it is on the backs of the Middle and Lower classes people …get that in your head!!! The Party of NO will be in control for about a minute and what we as Democrats need to remember is that we have to call Teapublicans out on every move they make to ruin the current President instead of focusing on and or creating Jobs. I have to say anyone with any common sense knows that the top 2% will not spend their tax cuts to create an environment so that people will be hired or create jobs and if they do it will be to outsource them for lower wages in China, Mexico etc. If you do not believe it, just tune into CNBC occasionally, and hear the words coming from various Teapublicans Ludlow and associates trot out on any given day.

I hope everyone is asking their Teapublican member of Congress what exactly the top 2% did with the Bush giveaways because it could not have been on hiring and creating jobs or we would not be in worse shape since the 2010 Midterm elections or see the mess all around us. I feel that after three years of gridlock from the Teapublican Party of No things are about to get heated within their own Family Values Platform party. Reports are and maybe Teapublicans need reminding that over 70% of Americans want to tax millionaires and billionaires, most do not want cuts to Soc.Security or Medicare, over half  of us want the new Affordable Health Care Act to be law. Yet, conservative members of Congress have given themselves over to Mr. Norquist as well as the big money brothers Koch and if you start to think about it that ditch President Obama pulled us from is a whole lot closer now that we have an extreme part of Congress controlling the House of Representatives … The question is do Teapublicans care what happens to their own family friends and co-workers jobs  and status in life if they continue this lemming march toward disaster?

 Anyway –

“Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.” –George Orwell

I personally do not want to go back to colonial days we must move forward stay in the present so discrimination fails …the past fails and equal rights for all prevails.

a message from … Jeremy Bird, BarackObama.com

Exactly one year ago, millions of Americans will head to polling places all around the country.

We’ve been reminding you of that a lot lately because so much is at stake.

And it’s time to kick up our organizing efforts, no matter where you live.

Today, we’re rolling out an interactive campaign calendar that’s going to play a crucial role in keeping us all looped in on the organizing we’re doing. It’s got it all — from upcoming primaries and debates to neighborhood canvasses and trainings happening in your community.

We’ll be updating this calendar regularly — and you’ll know about changes as soon as we do, because it can sync with your Outlook and Google calendars online. So important campaign dates, like the last day you can register to vote where you live, will be in the same place with your all your other to-dos.

If you want to be a part of all the building we’re going to do together in the next year, let us know by making a commitment to volunteer in this campaign — then download the calendar to stay in the loop. www.BarackObama.com

Here’s what I think is really cool about this calendar: It doesn’t just keep you up to date on the campaign’s day-to-day activities. It actually maps out our organizing for the next 12 months — lets you know what phase we’re currently in, what that means for your community, and how the work we’re all doing is connected to the bigger picture.

Right now, we’re in the team-building phase — honing in on growing neighborhood teams of supporters in communities across the country. This is the phase that lays the foundation for the four phases to come. Click on one of the links in this message, and have a look for yourself.

When you do, you’ll see a number — 365 — the number of days we have to build teams and reach out to voters between now and Election Day. That time is a gift — but only if we use it. Let’s go.

Commit to volunteer for 2012, and stay up to date by downloading our new interactive calendar:
