My family and I have lived in our South Minneapolis home for the past 7 years, but now, because of a bank error, we fell into foreclosure and were evicted from our home, despite being willing and able to pay a mortgage.

Our family fell into foreclosure when PNC Bank failed to withdraw an online mortgage payment submitted by my father. Unable to pay more than the current month’s payment, we couldn’t afford the two months’ payment the bank demanded as punishment.

After our home fell into foreclosure, we began working with a local nonprofit that was supposed to be working out a loan modification. Despite this, in February, without warning, an agent of the bank came to our house and told us we had 48 hours to leave the property, terrifying our family and ignoring our right to a legal eviction process.

We want to keep our home and want the bank to negotiate a reasonable settlement for our mortgage based on the actual value of the property. Together with Occupy Homes MN we will defend our home from foreclosure and force the bank to do what is right. Until now, many families in the Latino community have been afraid to stand up when they are being mistreated by the banks that fraudulently foreclose on families across the country. The banks have used this fear and manipulation of a complicated legal system to profit from honest, hardworking people.

Because of the support from Occupy Homes MN, community members, and our neighbors and friends, PNC Bank executives committed to looking into our case “to help and rectify the situation.” Despite this, PNC Bank has not yet worked with us to find a solution, but instead has worked with Freddie Mac to push five eviction attempts and twenty-three arrests at our home.

On June 19th, my brother and I are going to PNC Bank’s Pittsburgh headquarters with our modification documents to meet with CEO Jim Rohr and ask him to renegotiate our family’s mortgage. We will not remain silent because we know that if more people are inspired by our example and stand up for their rights the banks will be forced to do what is right for all homeowners. MTV Devoting Platform to Obama Interview Friday

NEW YORK — MTV says it will air a live 30-minute interview with President Barack Obama across its various networks and platforms on Friday at 5 p.m. Eastern time and on tape delay at 5 p.m. Pacific time.

Viewers are being invited to submit questions for the president on MTV’s Facebook page. MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway will interview Obama at the White House, while Andrew Jenks will be reporting from a Washington-area college campus.

MTV hopes many questions will focus on issues important to young voters, such as jobs and the cost of college.

The interview will air on five different networks, MTV.com and its mobile platform.

Spokeswoman Janice Gatti says the network has reached out to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney for a similar special, but hasn’t gotten a response.

Medicare Advantage is George Bush’s plan to “privatize” Medicare and it FAILED.

Paul Ryan‘s plan doubles down on this failed plan to “privatize Medicare” giving millions to insurance companies.

In contrast President Obama gives savings back to seniors by filling the prescription “donut hole.”

Ryan proposes giving all the donuts ($) to the insurance companies.

“Medicare Advantage” failed to reduce costs through competition in the marketplace. Costs under these “Advantage” plans skyrocketed as expenditures for things like “health club memberships” were incurred to entice membership.

The Republican plan is real “crony capitalism.” It feeds profits and waste back into an already bloated insurance industry.

Don’t let Republican ads fool you into thinking that “Medicare Advantage” and “Medicare” are the same thing.

The privatization of Medicare through Medicare Advantage is a bad idea.

It’s an idea that has already been proven a failure.

The Affordable Care Act — The law makes significant reductions to Medicare Advantage, a subset of Medicare plans run by private insurers. Medicare Advantage was started under President George W. Bush, and the idea was that competition among the private insurers would reduce costs. But in recent years the plans have actually cost more than traditional Medicare. So the health care law scales back the payments to private insurers.

Let people know “Medicare Advantage” is no advantage at all. It depletes Medicare funds for all. Republican political candidates are presenting the “reining in of exorbitant costs of this private insurance plan (Medicare Advantage) as cuts to Medicare.
