DFA working to protect Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid

On Friday, we asked DFA members to vote on which Republican to target next with our new TV ad exposing the Republican attacks on Medicare, Social Security and education.

It was close, but the winner was clear: Republican Eric Cantor.

Now, we’ll hit him hard across his Virginia district before he heads back to Washington after Labor Day. You told us what to do. Please help make it possible by contributing $5 to get the ad on the air.

As of this morning, we’ve raised $30,000 for in-districts ads, but — to have a lasting impact and send a strong message — we need your help to raise at least $50,000 by Monday morning.

We’re holding Republicans accountable and hitting them where it hurts most — back home in their congressional district.

Please contribute now to make it happen.

Thank you for everything you do.

Call the Whitehouse 202-456-1111 …Tell President Obama to go big bold and bad

Just another rant …

Today, is the last day of August and while the last week has been crisis filled the last 24months has seen record numbers of hurricanes, a lot of flooding displacing numerous Americans with most if not all of us wondering why those on the right don’t believe in climate change or maybe just leaving the bs out for awhile. I think the weather and the damage we have seen should not be used another tool to hold middle America hostage for more spending cuts. It is not the time as this is the beginning of hurricane season covering the entire eastcoast is just or should be a reminder of things that should be reassessed the old taken out while rules regulations and infrastructure be moved into the 21st Century. President Obama spoke to Americans about the Surface Transportation Bill which is due to be reauthorized or expire by the end of September that provides an extension of Federal-aid highway, highway safety, motor carrier safety, transit, and other programs  though given how Teapublicans have been acting this legislation might need “We the People” to push in the current environment. The Political climate is getting heated as the sometimes-ugly rhetoric regarding race religion and gender preferences seem to be the big stick Republicans are wielding at those with truly weak minds who seem unwilling to remember what being an American is all about. It makes you wonder  what is taught at home or at the schools of right leaning people these days given the things we hear happening at the Middle and High School level . It really seems like an overt dogma of exclusion of or violence toward anyone who appears different, which is exactly what so-called adults politicians are behaving and acting out on all levels. My hope that any sane person would think this attitude is not what Americans are all about by any stretch of the imagination. We are a country of immigrants with various types of families that are blended but apparently to Teapublicans and their “family values platform, family is something only they and their religion can support. If you listen to Teapublicans, the meaning of family and marriage is limited and definitely make sense only to them. I do not understand the attitude and do not subscribe to it because it is un-American. While TV is steering clear of the whole “birther” and “other” label once forced upon President Obama and his family. The Right Wing radio airwaves continue to push for tribalism and would have us all believing President Obama among other things is not trust worthy, what with his funny name and family history being proof he just is not the one to vote for the White House. In some circles President Obama has been bashed for not being Black enough or on the other extreme … too Black to represent all Americans which is so offensive in and of itself.  Well, while i do not like opinion news at all it does seem to be all that is offered up these days even with a 24/7 news cycle. I prefer news without a side jab at President Obama and gossip is great …that is if i tuned into a show that does gossip for a living; don’t say you’re a news station then spend time on some celebrities personal life say a couple of strange things and ask viewers to respond. It is a waste of time when there is real news to be reported on stations that call themselves News

lets leave the gossip to gossip shows unless it’s connected to politics but then again one person’s gossip is another’s news … ugh

President Obama made remarks at the American Legion convention in Minneapolis. He talked about his plan to help veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan find jobs.  Unemployment among veterans is at almost 23%, which is double the national average.   More Info »

August …Jason Rosenbaum, DSCC Director of Online Communications

We need to win August. Let me tell you why.

Every single month is a separate fundraising battle with the GOP. Winning these battles means we pick up momentum, and more races get funded. Losing these battles means momentum is lost, and we won’t be able to fund enough races. Pretty simple.

But does that matter now, in late August? You bet it does. Losing a monthly fight will allow Republicans to attack early, taking potentially competitive seats off the map right now. Imagine if Barbara Boxer’s first Senate run had ended before it started because a flood of unanswered attack ads drove her out of the race.

If we win every monthly battle, we can protect future progressive champions and current champions like Sherrod Brown, and make sure President Obama sees four more years. If everyone joins in and we can raise $55,000 in the next three days, it should be enough to win August.

And besides, wouldn’t beating the GOP to end the summer be worth $5? Click here to help make it happen.

Each month is a competition, plain and simple, us vs. the Republicans. Help win August.

Best,
Jason

Fools … James Carville

I’m sorry but these Tea Partyin’ fools in Congress have got to go.

They’re trying to gut the New Deal, attack workers, and end Medicare. But when it comes to tax breaks for their billionaire and Big Oil buddies, it’s hands off.

The Republicans may have Karl Rove’s secret donors and the Tea Party ditto-heads on their side but we’ve got committed grassroots folks like you to help get out the truth.

And boy do we need you right now. Democrats’ campaign to kick the Tea Party right outta Congress is just $38,701 short of their $500,000 goal before the August FEC deadline hits in 24 hours.

Contribute $3 or more today and your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar by a group of House Democrats.

The media and pundits will use our grassroots fundraising totals to judge our will to call out the GOP on their hypocrisy and lies — so I’m asking you to act right now.

Every dollar you give goes right back out the door to help take the fight right to Republicans on their home turf with targeted advertising, grassroots organizing, and rapid response research.

Give today and help Democrats stand strong at this critical deadline.

Friend —

Republicans have just launched a dishonest new TV ad campaign in multiple districts across the country attacking Democrats who are standing strong for Medicare and seniors. Reports say the GOP has spent over $500,000 on this ad campaign of misleading attacks so far.

Now, after weeks of avoiding constituents who are outraged with their votes to destroy Medicare while preserving tax cuts for billionaires and Big Oil, House Republicans are set to return to Washington in a matter of days.

We must raise $500,000 before the August 31st FEC (Federal Election Commission) deadline to show that grassroots Democrats are united and committed to holding Republicans accountable for their reckless Tea Party agenda.       www.dccc.org

Contribute $3 or more before the August 31st FEC deadline and your donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar by a group of House Democrats.

We cannot let Republicans get away with selling out our seniors and the middle class. Stand with me today and help us win back our House Majority.

Thank you,

Nancy Pelosi
Democratic Leader
