wicked Wednesday …&some News

As Discrimination breaks out all over the U.S., which we can apply to so many things right about now. In a place that has always welcomed and or cared for like the poor, single mom’s with kids, The constitution; specifically the 14th Amendment, immigration, women’s rights, senior citizens, worker rights. Now has a new look called the Republican Tea Party with even more ugly Colonial ways and ideologies on old issues like – Race, Religion and the rights of its people, equal rights. I use to think all we had to worry about was what side of the political aisle these righties stood on. Now, it is all about why they are pitting the middle class against the working class and eliminating those in need. If you listen to them speak the lines of fair and or balanced behavior becomes so blurry and if they get their way, if they complete their mission, the only ones standing in any kind of line will be those who claim to be a member of the Republican Tea Party

Critical Abortion Vote Looms – Take Action Now

Defund Planned Parenthood? Failed. Eliminate family planning funds? Nope. Still attacking women’s health? You betcha.

Since the start of this Congress, House leadership has pursued an agenda seeking to reduce women’s access to reproductive health care services. Now they are pushing H.R. 3, a bill that proposes dangerous restrictions on insurance coverage for abortion.

It’s time to send Speaker Boehner and House leadership a message. Tell your Representative to stop the attacks on women’s health and vote NO on H.R. 3.

H.R. 3 would harm women’s health and would even raise taxes on individuals and small businesses to punish private health care decisions. Now we are hearing that this bill may come to the House floor for a vote as early as next week. We must stop them. Tell your Representative to oppose this harmful bill and protect women’s health.

www.nwlc.org

H.R. 3 reduces women’s access to abortion care in many ways, but here are some of its most outrageous provisions —Raises taxes and increases costs on many individuals and small businesses with insurance plans that cover abortion, which could force individuals and employers to drop abortion coverage from their health insurance plans. It could even shut down the entire private market for insurance coverage that includes abortion.

Writes into permanent law a ban on abortion coverage for ALL women who depend on the government for their health care. This includes low-income women currently covered under Medicaid, women who will become eligible for Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, women serving in the U.S. military, federal employees, residents of the District of Columbia, women in federal prisons and women covered by the Indian Health Service.

Unbelievably, H.R. 3 contains no exceptions for circumstances where a woman faces serious health consequences, even if continuing the pregnancy could cause permanent damage to her heart, lungs, or kidneys.

We refuse to stand by as they continue their outrageous attack on women’s health. Tell your Representative to vote NO on H.R. 3 and its dangerous restrictions on women’s health care coverage today.

Thank you for helping us protect women’s access to reproductive health services. We will continue to work tirelessly to defeat this bill.

Sincerely,

Judy Waxman

Super Green Foods

By Chester Ku-Leapublished October 31, 2005

Super green foods are derived from young cereal grasses such as wheat, barley, rye, oats and alfalfa, as well as spirulina, chlorella, kelp, dulse and other sea vegetables. Perhaps the most nutrient-dense foods on earth, these grasses are richer in nutrients than spinach, broccoli, eggs and chicken in virtually all categories including protein, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium, zinc, copper, manganese, vitamin C, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, folic acid, vitamin B12, carotenoids and vitamin E.

Super green foods are the only foods in the vegetable kingdom that enable animals to continually maintain their weight, strength and optimal health even if consumed alone. They abound in unidentified growth factors, powerful antioxidants, immune boosters and many other health enhancing nutrients.

Super green foods are a category of phytonutrient-rich nutritional products derived from green plants, algae and cereal grasses. Green superfoods contain high concentrations of natural chlorophyll and are harvested seasonally to take advantage of high potencies of naturally occurring vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes. Green superfoods are a natural source of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, plant sterols and other nutritional constituents. There is no better natural source of vitamins than green superfoods. They are safe, effective and the perfect adjunct to your daily diet.

Benefits

• naturally occurring vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes

Video: First look at our campaign plan -Jim Messina

I want to show you a quick presentation I’ve been giving to the first staff coming on board here in Chicago, outlining our strategy to win and our overall approach to this campaign.

In the weeks and months to come, we’ll ask grassroots supporters like you to meet with one another and local organizers to take the first steps to victory on November 6th, 2012.

But before we begin meeting in living rooms and backyards across America, it’s important that we communicate with each other about a set of principles for the organization and our overall strategic thinking about how the race will shape up.

The most important aspect is this: Our campaign will be grounded in President Obama’s experience as a community organizer. This notion of ordinary people taking responsibility for the organization at the neighborhood level is not only the way to win, it’s also the way politics ought to work. Our campaign will be an example of innovation and efficiency, but it will also be an example of civic engagement at its best and most rewarding.

Have a look at the briefing, then share it with your friends and neighbors and ask them to help build this campaign with us:

This plan will evolve as we get feedback from grassroots supporters like you over the weeks and months ahead. That’s already happening — as you know, we’ve already started the process of having one-on-one conversations with people in every state to gather thoughts and ideas, and thousands more talks will take place over this spring and summer.

But this briefing should give you a sense of our current thinking about how we’ll build an unprecedented grassroots campaign to win — with you leading it.

Thank you,

Messina

Can we trust Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives to fix our long-term deficit problems in a responsible way?

Obviously not. On April 15, they passed an all-out assault on vital programs, including Medicare, to pay for massive giveaways to millionaires and billionaires—while doing almost nothing to balance the budget. The bill was passed without even a single Democratic vote.

This “budget” bill is a fraud on the American people—not a starting point for debate or negotiations. It is no more of a deficit reduction plan than Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s taking away rights from workers was a budget plan.1

A budget that’s only passed the U.S. House of Representatives isn’t law. But the big danger is that the Senate will try to cut a deal that meets House Republicans halfway and worsens the imbalance in our economy. We can’t let that happen.

Tell your senators and President Obama to reject the House Republican budget fraud—and create a responsible 2012 budget that funds the America we believe in.

http://act.aflcio.org/salsa/track.jsp?v=2&c=QcH2CyD0Ij%2FKE7feNKIh6JXmnd4KeRbV

Congressional Republicans have hidden the motivations behind their policies again and again. Here are the facts:

They told us it was about reducing the deficit. But the budget House Republicans passed does virtually nothing about the long-term deficit problem. It cuts $4.3 billion in spending while handing out $4.2 trillion in tax giveaways that disproportionately favor corporations and the rich. The net deficit reduction? A pathetic $155 billion.1

They told us it was about reining in out-of-control health care costs for seniors. But the budget House Republicans passed forces seniors to pay dramatically more for less health care—it does nothing to control health care costs, but destroys Medicare as we know it, replacing it with underfunded vouchers. Under the House-passed 2012 budget, out-of-pocket health care costs for a typical 65-year-old will more than double in the first year alone, increasing by more than $6,000.2

They told us it was about addressing the jobs crisis. But the budget House Republicans passed will eliminate an estimated 1.7 million to 2.2 million jobs over two years.3

They told us it was about creating a better future for our children. But the budget House Republicans passed literally takes food out of the mouths of hungry children by cutting food assistance for low-income families. It kicks 200,000 kids out of Head Start, cuts funding for elementary and secondary schools by 25 percent and slashes college aid for 8 million students.4

No matter what House Republicans say, the bill they passed—which does almost nothing to reduce the deficit, demolishes Medicare and gives $4.2 trillion in tax cuts to the wealthy—shows they’re squarely siding with corporate America and against working families.

Sign our petition: Demand that your senators and President Obama reject this complete budget fraud that devastates working families, children and seniors.

President Obama recognizes we can’t follow the path of radical House Republicans who are willing to kill millions of jobs, destroy Medicare, give away $4.2 billion in tax breaks disproportionately to corporations and the rich and do almost nothing about the deficit. He’s made clear he understands why Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security are so important to working people.

But even the president does not have the balance right yet between spending cuts and the need to raise revenue from Wall Street, corporations and the millionaires and billionaires who have benefited for years from our broken economy, which has failed working people miserably.

Corporate CEOs have seen explosive income growth and declining tax burdens for years. And they caused our economic crisis. It’s time for them to pay their fair share to create jobs and fix our crumbling infrastructure. Once that happens, working people can do our part to fix our long-term budget problems. But it’s got to be done in a fair way.

Sign our petition: Urge President Obama and your senators to reject the outrageous House Republican budget bill.

Whether you’re a Republican, an Independent or a Democrat, I hope you recognize today’s corporate Republican politicians—from Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker to U.S. House Speaker John Boehner—have swung too far toward favoring corporate America at the expense of the rest of us. And I hope you’ll join us in opposing the House Republican budget.

Thanks for joining our fight for sanity in the federal budget.

In Solidarity,
